So, classic Eastenders starts airing on the UKTV Drama channel from tomorrow! Two episodes from noon, and they’ll also be on UKTV catchup.

Use this thread to talk about Den, Angie, Arthur, poodle perms, poor fashion choices and Ethel’s Willy.

Loving the Sharon/Chelle two hander. Bloody brilliant acting but I’m shocked at the language! Slag, bitch...

Me too, thought it was excellent. Was Shock at the language too, especially when Sharon said "dickhead". At least it was a bit more realistic.

Another thing I noticed was how quickly they seemed to speak compared to today, as soon as one person finished speaking the other person was straight in. No slight pause between people speaking, that natural reaction time. This was even at the start of the episode so not because of heightened emotions etc.

Vicky must sleep like a log not to wake up during all that! She even stayed asleep when Sharon went charging in the bedroom clattering around in the wardrobe. Wish mine slept that well!

Tink1990 · 10/06/2019 19:27

I also thought that, re: the language! Im loving it, im even behind on the current eastenders now as im enjoying watching these episodes in the evening! (recorded on sky+ in the afternoon)

I loved today's double-hander episode too. So now Sharon knows! I still don't understand why Michelle told her (apart from creating a new interesting plot twist).

How come Den's body hasn't been found? Didn't he just fall straight into the canal and should be bobbing about in there? Or is it that he isn't really dead - in which case, why would the police declare his death following the discovery of a bloodstain and a confession from the gunman with the daffodils?

x2boys · 11/06/2019 09:03

Den is assumed dead,I think they do find a body in a few months that is identified as Dens, however as we know he turned up.fourteen years later lots of resurrection ,s in eastenders.....,I appear to have missed one of two episodes s including the death by daffodils😰so.i.have a couple of questions, where's Colin? Why is All having a go at she for kissing Mehmet, when he's slept with Donna?

x2boys · 11/06/2019 09:04

Ali having a go at sue*

Limer · 11/06/2019 10:34

Colin's in Bristol staying with his brother.

Ali thinks he's allowed to sleep around, because he's a man! And he's abiding by the mysterious "Turkish Rules" that Guizin & Mehmet also live by - the man can do whatever he wants, but the woman has to be a perfectly obedient wife and mother. Double standards - there's lots of this in Eastenders which I think is great. Loads of strong women and useless men.

Dot says it's a year since Tom died. Crikey it moves fast

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 21/06/2019 14:47

Loved Arthur on the game show today, with Pauline in the audience wearing her best and only smart clothes!

Was Cat and Mouse ever a real game show back in the 80s? If it was, I don't remember it.

Limer · 21/06/2019 17:34

One long-standing mystery solved! The Fowlers are council tenants! Is this the start of them buying the house?

Cat & Mouse wasn't a real game show. I liked the question about Coronation Street, Arthur obviously watches it!

I was wondering the other day when Pat & Frank would finally tie the knot, looks like it'll be sometime next week Grin

I definitely think Dot looks 65, but she must be quite a bit younger, if she was a child during WW2 she was probably born in the late 1930s, so would be about 50 in 1989. That's a bit depressing because she's younger than I am now Grin

igotdemons · 21/06/2019 17:51

Yes Limer, that’s the house question finally answered! I’m interested to see just how much the Council say they can buy it for and how easily the Fowler’s are able to get a mortgage. Also wondering where Arthur is getting the money for all the extravagant alterations he’s got planned! 😂

Tink1990 · 22/06/2019 23:08

Im loving it! Yes, I love how its so much more natural etc. And the fact they referenced Corrie!

x2boys · 23/06/2019 12:53

Arthur won £2000 on the game show as well.as the holiday ,I expect £2000,went much further 30 years ago than it does now, i know the council house question has finally been answered but Lou always said the house was her,s ,so would Pauline and Arthur have been tenants all those years and therefore entitled to a big discount Confused?I'm guessing Cindy finds out she's pregnant with Stevan pretty soon, how does she know that Simon is the Dad not Ian,she must also have been sleeping with ian,did they ever do a paternity test?

qazxc · 23/06/2019 18:15

What are the Turkish rules?

x2boys · 23/06/2019 18:56

I.don't think.anyone's quite sure @qazxc but it seemed to involved Ali and Mehmet being able to do pretty much as they wanted with regards to gambling and sleeping around but Sue and Guizin have to remain faithful and dutifulHmm

qazxc · 24/06/2019 07:29

But clearly they must have some sort of medical condition that means they cannot help but put their penis in any willing woman. Because according to Ali, it's all Donna's fault, he's not remotely responsible for any of it.

x2boys · 24/06/2019 09:04

Indeed @qazxc, it's not even as if they are that attractive .

x2boys · 26/06/2019 20:54

Janine!

Limer · 02/07/2019 15:50

Just done a massive binge-watch of the last 12 episodes!

Poor Pat! She’s got Frank, but she’s also lumbered with 3 of his kids, his mother and his tin-pot used car lot!

Finally Carmel has found some inner strength. I think they’ve done that storyline really well, especially with Carmel being a professional woman who understands exactly what domestic violence is all about.

I liked all the old women ganging up on Dr Samuels!

Hope Dot divorces Charlie – but I didn’t understand what happened with the woman who appeared from nowhere who was also married to Charlie – was it Dot or her who married him first?

Oh dear – little Ali at an unregistered childminder, that’s bound to end in tears.

x2boys · 02/07/2019 20:18

I was watching today's episode and I'm a bit confused as to where Dr legg .lives I thought he had a house somewhere else not in the square so why was he pottering around the surgery in his pajamas?and I thought he had retired?

Sux2buthen · 02/07/2019 21:26

He lives above the surgery I think.
When I was a kid watching this I thought cindy was awful for cheating on Ian but now I get her point Grin
They seem to have a new make up artist or something as well, everyone suddenly seems to have had a slight makeover.

x2boys · 02/07/2019 21:32

Ethel and Lofty used to live above the surgery though ,has he always lived there or recently ?

x2boys · 02/07/2019 21:33

I did notice Michelle looked a bit less frumpy .

Cornettoninja · 04/07/2019 00:01

They seem to have a new make up artist or something as well, everyone suddenly seems to have had a slight makeover

I thought that! Even Ethel and Marge looked a fraction snazzier.

Weirdly Junior all of a sudden looks much older too.

It’s all very disconcerting when these episodes are so close together Grin

x2boys · 04/07/2019 08:31

Yes I noticed that about Junior ,he seems to have aged about five years in a couple of weeks ,I know the years go by quickly in classic Eastenders but not that quickly it's the same actor too! I can't work out how old he is ,is he
at high school? He seems to.have a lot of responsibility for one so young,he always looking after Aisha, and yet Carmel slags off everyone else,s parenting ability Hmm

Limer · 04/07/2019 08:57

Yes - Junior seemed to be about 8 last week, and now he looks more like 12! Also, if he's at school with Melody, and she's in the Brownies, she can't be older than 10. Yet Junior's school report (for the end of the school year) had different subjects listed - French, Maths, History, Woodwork etc., so definitely a secondary school.

Something else that's puzzling me, how come "the stall" is now apparently providing both Pete and Arthur with enough money to live off?
