So, classic Eastenders starts airing on the UKTV Drama channel from tomorrow! Two episodes from noon, and they’ll also be on UKTV catchup.

Use this thread to talk about Den, Angie, Arthur, poodle perms, poor fashion choices and Ethel’s Willy.

Valentine's Day today! And Carmel and Matthew back from their honeymoon, all loved up. Does he turn out to be a nasty piece of work? I can't remember!

I like the odd touches of comedy, like today's multiple cards to all the women of the Square, underlined with the sadness that none of their men actually appreciate them. Poor Dot and her eternal faith that Charlie loves her!

OMG Donna - All my sympathy for her has evaporated now!

Thank god Den's trial is next episode (I think - and Michelle's going to attend after phoning in pretending to be sick to Dr Legg?) What were the scriptwriters thinking with that prison suicide though?

Just want to apologise if I'm giving any spoilers to those of you reading this - I tend to watch later the same afternoon (so I can fast-forward through the adverts) and then post on here!

Limer · 30/05/2019 20:22

Wow - just seen Donna as a pregnant diabetic's mother in an old episode of Call The Midwife! She's perfected that icy-cold steely gaze of simply knowing that she's always right Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/05/2019 21:01

I'm pretty sure Matthew turns out to be a wrong'un .

Valentines Day already Grin . I need to catch up.
Do Pat'n'Frank dress up The Vic for the day ?

x2boys · 30/05/2019 21:13

No ,but Colin and Guido? have a Valentine's day themed dinner party,Ian and Cindy are getting close.....

SinisterBumFacedCat · 31/05/2019 13:49

Just found this today. I’d forgotten how menacing Den was, he’s just constant wound up aggression.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 31/05/2019 15:34

They did the 'identical cards' thing at Christmas , (though it was only a couple of weeks ago in Catch Up Land Grin ) they most likely thought the viewers would forget by Valentines .

x2boys · 31/05/2019 15:38

Was that not a couple of christmas,s ago 70? Time passes so quickly in classic Eastenders Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 31/05/2019 23:28

I cannot remember if it was the most recent Christmas ? Xmas Blush
Cannot remember when the previous one was shown, but they were big, blousey , cutesy cards .

I'm trying to think if Den gave one to Angie or not (if so then its not the most recent one)

Fast forward a couple of years and everyone will buy identical fairy lights from Mickey (Joe Swash) Miller off the market (because nobody every buys fairy lights in November , we all wait till 23rd Dec to buy them) ..................

x2boys · 01/06/2019 09:04

They do year in about ten weeks , so you could be forgiven if you got your Xmas,s mixed up 70!😂The one I recall was Lofty buying Michelle a big card and everyone opening the same big card 😆

Tink1990 · 01/06/2019 11:23

Ive set my series link up for this starting Monday! Cannot wait!

Akire · 01/06/2019 21:53

Still loving this, although fed up of Den gang thing. Just caught up was Donna faking the parent killed thing then? One ended with them giving her money in Pub for her to go visit then her mum show up. But no come back or mention of all her own making up or backlash.

Don’t remember Pete having breakdown at all.

x2boys · 02/06/2019 10:51

I think so Akire but it wasent clear if she really did get a message or not ,although if both her parents had been killed in a car crash I think the police would have made more of an effort to contact her ,not pass on a message telling her to contact the police station, even in the 80,s by my reckoning Dens death by Daffodils must be monday?

Akire · 02/06/2019 15:06

But it ended with mum going in pub and her saying “mum” but wasn’t explained if was her making story for cash or someone else playing trick? Given her lies in passed thought explain it better.

southeastdweller · 02/06/2019 16:50

I remember 1989 as the year EE went for a more softer feel after Donna dies with some new characters we'll meet again soon - Marge, Julie the hairdresser, Paul (who went out with Julie) and his friend Trevor. I don't think it worked but I thought Julie had a lot of potential.

x2boys · 02/06/2019 17:53

When do the Mitchell's ,come into it?

southeastdweller · 02/06/2019 17:59
Tink1990 · 03/06/2019 21:36

Whats wrong with the donna lady? Just started watching this today!

x2boys · 04/06/2019 14:25

She's an unrealistic Heroin addict Tink, she won't be in it for much longer......

Tink1990 · 04/06/2019 18:50

Ooh deaarr. Thanks x2!

gower4 · 05/06/2019 11:50

Does anyone on the thread actually understand the mob storyline and if so can they explain it to me in baby terms? 😂
I understand who they are, and that Den got caught up out of his depth.
Broadly understand the safe house trick and him handing himself in and going on remand.
Lost from there!!

Akire · 05/06/2019 20:13

Can’t help with that myself. I am confused I thought men following him to canal where police. But just the mob? So they found him but not the police?

gower4 · 05/06/2019 22:24

Michelle basically led the mob to him
by going to see that Mr Mantel bloke. The irony!

gower4 · 05/06/2019 22:25

But why didn't he just go directly to a police station once he'd escaped the mob??

Sux2buthen · 06/06/2019 16:15

As much as I'm sure Sharon would be upset she is boring the crap out of me.

pastapestoparmesan · 10/06/2019 14:16

Loving the Sharon/Chelle two hander. Bloody brilliant acting but I’m shocked at the language! Slag, bitch...
