Private it was a great tournament- some really amazing stuff over the fortnight- but especially the second week.

Yes agree Raahh. That's the beauty of the red button too I think - if you see what looks like a good match up, you can tune in, even though it might not be shown on the main channels, and could well be a better match. Eg one of my favourite matches this year was Tsitsipas v Donaldson, albeit not very high profile, it was so good.

Raahh · 17/07/2018 19:06

Private Tsitsipas was a revelation, this year. I knew about him from Barcelona, of course, but hadn't seen him play properly. He really impressed me.

Hope you're all enjoying Our Girl Grin

Oops missed the start! And the middle and end.

Fizzywinegum · 17/07/2018 21:48

Just watched the best shots thing on Wimbledon website - that’s what I missed about actually watching Wimbledon at home - all the extra bits. Hoping that the Rafa/Roger documentary is still on iPlayer when I get home.

I think it’s generallly been agreed that Rafa was involved in the two most exciting matches of the tournament - not bad for a baseliner.

I’ve never seen “our girl” either - luckily the “love island” villa is safe from the mini tsunami (another programme I’ve never seen Smile)

JaneJeffer · 17/07/2018 21:59

luckily the “love island” villa is safe from the mini tsunami that's a shame

Fizzywinegum · 17/07/2018 22:12

Indeed Jane Grin

Grin Bugger it, I was so gutted when I had to miss Our Girl to watch the end of the 5th set of Rafa-Delpo (?was it?!) and now I've gone and missed it tonight as well!! Angry

I don't even know what Our Girl is btw - maybe it's really good?!! Grin

PrivateParkin · 17/07/2018 22:20

Fizzy agree about Rafa - definitely the two most exciting matches this Wimbledon. Probably of the whole year! (Although I would put Delpo's match with Fed at Indian Wells up there too)

Just had a long conversation with my gran, before she goes in hospital- she is very pleased that Djok won (she's a big fan).

Ds finally finishes school today (officially has two days left, but tomorrow is the rewards day out trip, and he no longer wants to go- the last day is pointless for him, and the meds he is on now are affecting him a bit).

Dd1 is going to Blackpool tomorrow- it's her first experience of a 'rewards day' (which ends up costing me £££)- she isn't keen on rides, I think she is planning on going on the 'little kid' rides with her best mateGrin.

DD2 still has a week left - she is not impressed by this. Grin

I want to hibernate and pretend everything isn't happening Grin

And I've had a great idea to shake up next year's Wimbledon tournament- forget 'boring baseline battles' GrinWink

Just show 'Our Girl' on a loop Grin (I've never watched it- but from the trailers, they seem to wear a lot of makeup in a war zone Grin).

Trivia question (NB it's not as good as magi's). This was from playing Pointless (board game) last night.

Name a player (men or women) who has successfully defended a grand slam title.

Obv as it's pointless it has to be someone people wouldn't think of. I said Pat Rafter which was pointless - yay - but there were a few others I didn't get.

Any guesses as to who else was Pointless?! Grin Just in case anyone has some spare time on their hands Grin

PrivateParkin · 18/07/2018 13:57

Sorry x-post Raahh!! I'll read your post now.

Raahh · 18/07/2018 14:00

Private ooh! excellent question.

Bruguera?

OP posts:
Raahh · 18/07/2018 14:03

I'm not sure of Jan Kodes defended his titles- but I know he is one of the players who has won 3 slams without making to number 1 (that might have been an Inverdale Quiz during the Australian open Grin).

Raahh · 18/07/2018 14:04

I love Pointless- and tennis questions come up quite a lot.

(Although the programme also gets repeated, so maybe I'm not quite as clever as my dc think I amGrin).

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 18/07/2018 14:08

I hate Pointless. It hurts my brain. It's the quiz show equivalent of maths to me. The Chase is more my thing unless The Vixen is on with her stupid lemon-sucking expression.

Raahh · 18/07/2018 14:10
Grin

Ooh- I think I've got one- Johan Kriek.

Australian Open? he was mentioned the other day when discussing South African players.

Might not be pointless though. Grin

OP posts:
PrivateParkin · 18/07/2018 14:15

Both of those were Pointless Raahh! Gold star Grin
There were two more recent ones as well - one man, one woman.

Raahh · 18/07/2018 14:19

Clay ones are always a good bet.

And Kriek was a lucky guessGrin

Ooh- recent.

I can't imagine Mauresmo being Pointless. Li Na?

OP posts:
PrivateParkin · 18/07/2018 14:24

Li Na wasn't included but our game might be a bit out of date!

Both of the others were at the French Open...

Raahh · 18/07/2018 14:24

I'll still with clay, and go with Guga, Kuerten.

I think he defended the French?
