Good evening all - I was planning to watch a film tonight but might look in on a bit of tennis first...

I agree about Zverev. The stuff he said in his press conference does make him sound a bit entitled, but at least he says what he really thinks, and doesn't just offer the bog-standard responses. Which is quite refreshing.

That's interesting about Tsitsipas "getting under his skin" - definitely the makings of a good rivalry there!

PrivateParkin · 11/08/2018 20:45

Annabel has just tweeted that Tsitsipas is the "Errol Flynn of tennis" Grin I absolutely love Errol Flynn so that's made me like Stefanos even more!

JaneJeffer · 11/08/2018 20:50

Grin he does look very swashbuckling

PrivateParkin · 11/08/2018 20:52

Here's Errol - he was a pretty good player himself Grin

Without his flowing locks in that pic though Grin but still hot

JaneJeffer · 11/08/2018 20:57

Peter Fleming and Petchey agreed with Zverev's comments that it wasn't a great match when you looked at the stats.

PrivateParkin · 11/08/2018 21:05

Yes it was good about half way through - the end of the second set and the tie break - but then there were a fair few errors in the third. But it was still a bit rich for Zverev to say Tsitsipas Errol didn't play well - ok, it mightn't have been his best, but it was good enough to win the match!

PrivateParkin · 11/08/2018 21:37

There are some people in the crowd waving the world's smallest Greek flags Grin - looks v funny

Fizzywinegum · 11/08/2018 21:43

raahh all I know is that 8pm in Canada is 1am here and that’s when Rafa has been playing all of his matches - grr! It did take me ages to work it out though and I’ll get confused again when they move back to USA.

I only watched last nights match from about half way through the second set and thought that Tsitsipas played pretty well. I think Zverev was being a bit unfair to say that they were both terrible. And yes Private Tsitsipas plated well enough to win the match.

Just started watching him play against Anderson - he’s just gone ahead in the second set - he must be knackered!

Would love to see him and Rafa in the final (as long as it’s not on at 1am!)

PrivateParkin · 11/08/2018 21:49

Aw - Marcus has just said this is Tsitsipas' last match as a teenager - he's 20 tomorrow. He's done well to win that second set, staving off (as they say Grin) a few break points.

Hmm - can he win the third though?

JaneJeffer · 11/08/2018 22:10

Well I hope he's not pissing off his mother like my 19 year old is at the moment Angry

PrivateParkin · 11/08/2018 22:20

Jane Grin

Ugh, I hate the foot fault rule. It seems so petty.

Idk how Tsitsipas keeps getting out of these service games without being broken.

JaneJeffer · 11/08/2018 22:47

I'm having to score watch because fecking MOTD is on.

PrivateParkin · 11/08/2018 22:52

Bah that's no good!

This is a very tight nervy tie break and Tsitsipas has been foot faulted and again, and wasted yet another challenge!

PrivateParkin · 11/08/2018 22:53

Wow great defence from Tsitsipas Shock

PrivateParkin · 11/08/2018 22:54

Double fault on match point - or was it?? He's out of challenges.

PrivateParkin · 11/08/2018 22:57

Wow what a backhand match point down from Tsitsipas!!

PrivateParkin · 11/08/2018 22:59

Omg how has he won that?!? Brilliant!!!

JaneJeffer · 11/08/2018 23:01

Well done Tsitsipas. Wish I could have seen it!

PrivateParkin · 11/08/2018 23:05

Annabel is absolutely loving Tsitsipas! Who can blame her?

Fizzywinegum · 11/08/2018 23:12

Yay he’s great - so pleased that he’s through to the final and on his twentieth birthday as well.

Wish I could stay up and watch Rafa but don’t think I’ll be able to - I wish it was on now.

Fizzywinegum · 11/08/2018 23:13

He is rubbish at challenges though Grin

JaneJeffer · 11/08/2018 23:22

I'll stay up a while anyway. And here's a gratuitous photo...

I'm going to have to go to bed. You're hardcore Jane Grin Enjoy Rafa.
