Morning everyone!

I have been up for hours and haven't even been able to watch tennis.

I have cleaned my oven.

I am going for my 'once every 2-3 yearly' hair cut today. I hate having

my hair cut. It's worse now, because the medication I'm on for my migraines has made me lose about a third of the volume and it falls out in handfuls. So my once thick curly hair now looks like cotton wool. But I will be brave.

I also can't see past my nose without my glasses on, and no longer have a back-up pair of contact lenses - so it will be a shock when I put my specs back on at the end.

Tsitsipas is definitely my favourite newbie- I really like him, and he's progressed so quickly this year. He's proving he can play on all surfaces too.

Jane are you sure Rafa went to the net? I thought he never did that ?

Stan though- that shirt is shocking - nearly as bad as those godawful stripy print nike shirts from last year.

It's a shame you couldn't watch last night, there were quite a few good matches going on. Plus the hair/beard-based commentary

Our day out has been postponed until Sunday thank god, as we were supposed to go to an outdoorsy type place with zip wires and tree walks etc - not my thing at the best of times. I think I'll probably just lurk in the cafe on Sunday while they all go off and be active!!

Re the shot clock, I didn't see Rafa get caught out by it at all, did you Jane? I don't think he is the worst offender for time violations anyway, I think he just has a reputation for it, even though he's speeded (sped??) his routine up a lot the last few years.

Magi I hope your house isn't too quiet without your DGC and you aren't missing him/her too much!

Private Rafa did fine with the clock. I don't think he went over once. As you said Djok is far more annoying with the bouncing. Also Paire managed to get away with flinging his racket about. I think the umpire decided to turn a blind eye as long as he didn't break anything.

Rafa definitely is the one that gets the the most attention when it comes to time violations- and he really isn't the worst. Djokovic and Cilic, to name two, are terrible for it.

I'm more irritated by the other things that players do. Kyrgios must waste far more time swearing and chunnering. And they need a clock for the spectators half the time, never mind the players.

To add to my bad day, dh has just had to take the dog to the vet. He has developed a bit of a limp - I'm hoping it's nothing serious . It doesn't seem to hurt when I touch his foot, but he keeps holding it up. He hates the vet- he gets really stressed when he goes.

Well- I can put it off not longer. I need to leave for my hair cut.

If you never hear from me again, I have left the country, until it grows back. Which could take a while, because it doesn't grow anymore, either !

Yes the spectators are terrible these days. Get back to your seat in time or stay away. So disrespectful to the players.

Vet couldn't find anything specific wrong with the dog's paw, but gave him some drugs anyway, and said we are not to walk him for a week. This will be a nightmare. Raahh dog will go stir crazy. So will I. If he doesn't improve, they will x-ray it. At least Dh is off at the moment, so he can deal with it.

@ the roadkill hedge hog cake. DD1 has always loved hedgehogs- but I cheated and bought her cake from Sainsbury's I think it was .

I did make her a minion cake, the year before they were popular and everywhere.

I haven’t seen any tennis - it’s either raining or on too late - I would love to see Rafa in red. What is it with him and Shakira? Loved his dancing though.

That sounds like a lot of pressure Fizzy! I love baking but I'm not very dextrous and hate faffing around with things, as you can see from the hedgehog cake!!

I’m trying to decide what cake to do - not sure whether to go with a safe one or go for something a bit different - possibly gin and tonic cake. I’m feeling anxious already. Maybe I’ll do a hedgehog cake

Yes I think Rafa and Stan are playing at 8ish Canada time and tsitsipas and Djokovic playing a bit earlier - no idea what time that is in uk - will try and work it out.

It's Rod Laver's birthday today. I'm sure he's had cake. He's 80 .

It was Roger's yesterday.

Raahh yes I was going to mention Rod - Wimbledon have posted a great video on Facebook with some clips of his matches. It's a great watch. Loads of serving and volleying and lobs - although a couple of huge passing shots as well! I loved watching it. He looks just as athletic as a modern player imho although the style is obviously different.

I wonder what Roger did for his birthday?! I can imagine him having a proper cake!
