I think I shall have to actually go out for the semi-final. I normally just have to go into another room or hide on the stairs. Sometimes if he's playing particularly well, I can get away with just pretending I'm not watching, but he's going to need all the help he can get against Djok and so that means me leaving the country house.

I have faith in you, Rafa!

I have to say that I am a bit bored of the endless 5 set matches .

I am referring to the Fed/Anderson one.

I watched the whole match but I honestly got a bit bored in the last set & only carried on watching as I was compelled to see who won.

I am starting to think that after 10 games all in the fifth there should possibly be a tie break???

Thought the Rafe/Delpo match was the best of the day & loved Murray's commentary.

Was switching like a madwoman between the football and tennis during the last set. Poor England. I'll go back and watch the last set again so I can hear what Andy was saying.

Bloody Trump. What an idiot. Hope to god it's not Djoko/Isner final. Don't think I'd bother watching.

This is from Delpo's read conference:
"The crowd were amazing with me. I think I played really good tennis today. Rafa is Rafa, sometimes you play great tennis and it's not enough to beat him."
He said Rafa's a great champion and he can beat Djokovic depending how he recovers from today. That's the other concern isn't it? Djok is going to be fresh as a daisy on Friday.

Oh god, can you imagine a Djokovic v Isner final?! I would struggle to watch that. I probably would tune in, but... With no enthusiasm tbh! I think I've only ever missed one - Hewitt v Nalbandian (2002?) And I started to watch it but fell asleep. Bloody Hewitt. How did he end up with a Wimbledon title and Pat Rafter didn't?! Sport is full of unfairness!!

Mardy Fish has just tweeted that Isner "can absolutely win Wimbledon". Get me out of this awful parallel universe asap! Where's my Federer-Cilic semi final?!

Agree about the final set tiebreak at 10-10 - not 6-6, that seems a bit roulette-like, but if they've reached 10-10 then yes. It's a bit mad otherwise.

Morning all!

All the excitement and 2 glasses of cider, and I fell asleepBlushGrin.

I always watch the final, and the tournament, regardless of who is playing. Just because I'm a Rafa fan doesn't mean I don't like (and can't appreciate) other players. I just like tennis - I fell asleep in the middle of the Hewitt/Nalbandian final too Grin but in my defence, I had recently found out I I was nearly 4 months pg (taking the pill back to back, unplanned blah blah) , and was feeling a bit delicate. I crashed out on my mother's sofa.Grin. I did want Hewitt to win though.

If Rafa was going to lose, I would have preferred it to be against Delpo than Djok. Novak is definitely getting his mojo back- and, well, he doesn't really have a bad surface. That's what made him so good.
I hope Rafa did sustain any kind of injuries from slipping over.

Anderson deserves to beat Isner, purely because what he achieved yesterday was pretty amazing. To come back, playing not only Federer, but 99% of the crowd , and the totally Roger-biased BBC (I wonder if Sue realised what she nearly said?) , was great. He's a nice bloke too.

I really don't want Isner to win. It's a pity Bemelmans couldn't beat him last week.

Hobnobs you certainly aren't gatecrashing. It's always good to have other people around. Most of the year, I do end up talking to myself a bit,Grin if you happen to drop by.

I enjoyed Murray's commentary, it was funny, but informative, and he knows the players well, which showed. I'm glad it was that match he commentated on.

I would prefer Rafa to win, but now Roger is out , I am a lot more relaxed about who wins. In truth I just want to see good tennis, not just serves thundering down .
I want someone to 'win' , not someone to 'lose' with good tennis IYSWIM

Managed to watch the first two sets of the Rafa/Delpo match before the footy took over but was keeping an eye on the scores. Sounded like an amazing match as did the Federer/Anderson one.

Slightly worried about Djokovic - he’s been quietly coming through his matches and seems to be playing ominously well. He will also be fresher than Rafa.

Fingers crossed for a Rafa/Anderson final.

Also heard a bit of Andy Murray’s commentary - he sounded knowledgable but still got a bit of a boring voice Smile

Fizzy I thought Murray's voice would annoy me, but after the beginning, when there were a few 'erms', he got a lot better. And it was a balanced commentary, which has been lacking.

Djok is definitely showing sign of his former self. Which will be difficult for Rafa- and when you think how many matches he has played over the past months, something will give at some point. But I have faith, it's still further than I realistically expected him to go.

It's a good thing it all happened yesterday though- today's drama is having to take dd2 for and emergency dentist appointment at
2.45pm, after she's been up all night with toothache. Which will be fun Grin

Hope your DD is ok Raahh and well done for her on the timing - would have been a disaster yesterday!

I too have faith in Rafa - he’s had his “i mean business” face on all tournament.

Just hoping I can see some of it - at least the semis won’t clash with the footy.
