Did anyone watch this? The first episode was completely up its own arse but I think I’ll stick with it!

Anybody have any ideas what the Mum is doing keep touching her eyelashes? Does she have that condition where you pull your hair out?

Watching episode 6. God it's so slow...... and I can barely hear what they are saying if there's any other noise around me. But I shall stick with it. I agree it seems likey it's a female killer

I’m loving it, and I don’t think it’s slow just building carefully. It’s from the first book by the writer of Gone Girl so I’m expecting a big twist.

The scenes in the hospital aren’t meant to be long ago, there’s references to Camille recently leaving hospital so I think it’s a very recent flashback. She hasn’t been home in a while but doesn’t mean she hasn’t been speaking to her Mum and stepdad in that time.

Clawdy Adora said that the Calhouns brought the house into the family and the Preakers brought the money. Or the other way round. But she did not appear to refer to Camille's father, more like her grandfather or even earlier.

Ah, right, I missed that.

I was thinking today that the slow pace and hued lighting is exact how life would look if you drank as much as Camille.

And Amma is very much creeping me out.

Seemed very unlikely that Camille would have been dragged along to a young teen party like that. And why did John and his girlfriend get invited too? Very odd episode.

Report
Toyboysrus · 15/08/2018 13:26

Clawdy, I agree about the teen party, one of boys even said in the car she's old enough to be his mother. I think John and Ashley are being thrusted at us viewers as the main suspects now so it obviously won't be them as a PP has mentioned a twist. I think Amma is behind it but manipulating a fella to do the actual murders, possibly the teacher?

Toyboysrus · 15/08/2018 13:59

Forgot to say, a few episodes back a little boy said the murdered girls were taken by the Woman in White. That could be Amma wearing the white dress she loaned to Camille.

Is she in fact Amma's mother? After what happened in the woods?

Ooooh that would be a good twist!

I'm just finding it so slow and I can hardly hear a word they are saying. Although I am intrigued so I'll watch it til the end.

I've been watching on my iPad on sky go and you really notice the difference in volume when it goes to the adverts - not sure why it's so quiet and mumbly

AveaBanana I was thinking about your brilliant theory. There were actually 3 clues in this episode:

  1. The fact that Camille was told she is old enough to be the young ones mother.
  2. The former football player apologising for the gang rape.
  3. The other women saying that Camille is not a whole woman and cannot feel their sorrow for the dead girls, because she is not a mother. Camille was saying "But I am sad." Or something like that.

You have got to love Jackie.

Elena, that's all true and when you set out the facts like that it seems so obvious! I do love Jackie, she would be such fun to go for a boozy night out with.

One of the best things on tv atm. Amy Adams is perfect.

Very dark episode. Adora is terrifying. But there may be a final twist, can't really see why she would kill Ann or Natalie?

Report
Toyboysrus · 21/08/2018 11:05

Camille and John!!!!

Great episode I feel like we are getting somewhere at last. I don't think Adora had reason to kill A and N, I still think Amma did it, with assistance from someone stronger to pull the teeth out.

Can't wait to see it.

I'm so glad I found this thread and the comments on the sound. I really thought I was going deaf. Ive been turning the volume up higher and higher but it makes no difference. I'm guessing half of what they are saying.
But although veeerryy slow it is really dark and interesting. Those houses and this weird part of the US. Are there really areas like that.
I don't think Adora did it. She had no reason to and you'd need to be quite strong. I think Amma is involved.
Very sad when Amma said that she drunk so that her mother would look after her.

I find it compelling but am torn between willing Camille on to find the murderer/s and find some peace, banish her demons. And wanting to shout at her "Don't go to the party!" "Don't have sex with John - the police are on their way!"

Also wondered about the teeth. That's savage. And what about Ashley whose ear was partially bitten off? Amma has access to the hog farm - maybe there's a tool there she could have used. But then how would she transport the bodies? That would point to Adora. Punishment for not being the pliant girls she was tutoring as well as seeing them as a threat to Amma?

Report
RayneDance · 21/08/2018 21:29

So adora tutors these girls?

I can't hear a fucking thing in it!!

I have a crush on Amy Adams though.

So adora had camille young. That man is her step dad.

Her first sister died from?! Suicide at being fed up with her mum?

Amma had a feeding tube and also went through this munchousen by proxy? But how it's quite gentle... Ie taking care of her with hang over.

The family own the hog farm??

Camille was raped.

Someone else made these marks on camille on her back. Who.

Amma is at once totally constrained but also totally free and wild at night!!
She's clearly disturbed but a child killer??

The mum adora movements are soooo slow and deliberate she isn't quick enough to kill and slaughter children.

Report
RayneDance · 21/08/2018 21:32

Maybe it's just the step dad in return for the death of his dd?? He knows his wife is bonkers so he punishes her for her loss of dd and his dd.. By bringing home... Constant talk of dead children.. Ie she can't escape form it
