at magi's request here is the first grass thread ( we will probably need more than one!).

Can't believe it time for Queen's again. Hope the weather holds out- bit gloomy in the north west.Grin

( can't link to other thread as on my phone).

See you all later- the only thing I'm not looking forward to is the likelihood it will be Mr Castle in the commentary box.Grin

That was a great match between Rafa and Muller. It wasn't a great Wimbledon last year was it, IIRC? But that was so exciting, and so close. Loved it.
I'm working tomorrow so unlikely to see much tennis then either, v annoying.

I see Cilic has taken the second set...

Raahh · 20/06/2018 18:08

Oh, I've managed to get my red button to work.

That rarely ever happens.

Thiem is out of Halle. I think that's the end of the tennis for today.

Fizzywinegum · 20/06/2018 18:12

I saw my old boss yesterday - he saw the Rafa/muller match at Wimbledon last year. The match went on for so long that his friend got heatstroke.

JaneJeffer · 20/06/2018 18:19

I need to sort out my red button before Wimbledon. Drama helped me find them before but now I'm just getting a high pitched test card. Sky is annoying in Ireland because the ITV channels and the red button options are under Other Channels and you have to find out the frequencies and input them and then they go and change the numbers.

Raahh · 20/06/2018 18:22

Fizzy blimey! It did go on for ages, didn't it. It was so stressful Sad. I wanted Rafa to go through so much.

Jane I've discovered that on Virgin, my red button is 991-996 or something. Which is much easier than faffing with the red button itself.

Aww, I do like Marin.

Not really surprised Thiem lost really.

Doubles on next.

Hewitt is playing doubles with Kyrgios- I hope he gave him a piece of his mind after his antics yesterday. I've always liked Hewitt, he's so intense when he plays. I'd end up throttling Nick though.

They are playing Mahut/Herbert, who I like very much.

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 20/06/2018 18:33

Hewitt looked great yesterday.

Raahh · 20/06/2018 18:39

It's funny listening to them talking about how Lleyton retired, and he's not been a major player for years- when he's about 37. Which Roger will be in August Grin. Of course, he's one of the players who had big problems with their hips, quite early on.

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 20/06/2018 18:48

I think one of his feet is wrecked as well and is held together by metal! He's such a trooper though. Are the "Let's go" lot there? They used to drive me mad.

Raahh · 20/06/2018 18:57

Oh, the Aussie fanatics are very annoying. I don't miss them Grin

Kyrgios does seem to be playing better today. At least, he's not feigning injury yet.

Yes Hewitt was always a fighter - I hope he does give Krygios a piece of his mind when they’re playing doubles.

I like Cilic as well - I was admiring his beard earlier Grin

Raahh · 20/06/2018 19:08

FIzzy Grin

I do love a nice beard. As does Andrew Castle Grin.

Just saw this on The Daily Mash Guide To Football
"The man with the whistle is the umpire. Like tennis, a really good sport, the umpire controls everything and can award a player with a yellow or red card if they think their hair is shit."
I think it might be a bit of a giveaway that you don't know anything about football if you say umpire instead of referee though Grin

Raahh · 21/06/2018 11:33
Grin

today, I will be waiting for A.C. award points for facial hair.

My mum was telling me this morning that my granny has been getting irate at Castle too. So much so, she was actually glad when Murray lost ( and she's a massive fan) because she was fed up with hearing about how many months it had been since he had played.Grin

Your poor Gran Grin

I'm watching Coric/Basilashvili in Halle. Basilashvili has a lovely beard which would go down well with AC.

The commentator mentioned something about curry wurst sausages. They love their food.

Raahh · 21/06/2018 14:28

I've spent another few hours at a hospital appointment with ds. Am going to miss most of the tennis today.Sad

Food is obviously a big discussion point with tennis commentators Grin

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 21/06/2018 14:33

Hope your DS is ok.

An easy win for Coric.

kazzaD66 · 21/06/2018 14:42

Am watching Edmund vs Kyrgios and I have to say, it's a pleasant surprise not to have to listen to the inane witterings of AC. I thought he'd be doing this match but maybe he's having a long lunch. I notice Jason Issacs is in Edmund's box. I've always had a soft spot for him since Capital City about 30 years ago Grin
Was Kyrgios a dog in a prior life? Why does he carry his towel around in his mouth all the time? He sits with it in his mouth at the changeover Confused

Raahh · 21/06/2018 14:45

Thanks Jane, he's o.k. Got a bit bored in the hospital, though, and was starving Grin.

Oh, heck. Kyrgios is beating Kyle.

Well, that's just made my afternoon! What a lovely bloke Jason was in that interview Smile

84CharingCrossRoad · 21/06/2018 14:49

Come on Kyrgios!!!!

84CharingCrossRoad · 21/06/2018 14:56

Only came in a few minutes ago. I had the M v K match on at work the other day! My boss wasn't overly impressed with me!!
