at magi's request here is the first grass thread ( we will probably need more than one!).

Can't believe it time for Queen's again. Hope the weather holds out- bit gloomy in the north west.

Just seen a cracking shot by Bemelmans against Isner.

And Isner is throwing a bit of a strop.

And now he's been warned- I've never liked Isner much. Despite the Mahut match. I wanted Mahut to win it. .

Things are not looking good for Stan. He's never come back from 2 sets down at Wimbledon, has he?

I hope after this, he can re-group for the US Open, go to Canada /Cinci first maybe. His ranking is shot at the moment.

I really hated that Isner-Mahut match, sorry if I've gone on about it before. It was awful and ridiculous. Plus the way they made them do that presentation the next day and poor Mahut had to stand there and go through with it!! And Mac was like "What a great advertisement for our sport" - no. It was torture!!

Oh I'm upset that Caroline is out. I like watching her and she doesn't screech. Some of the women are unwatchable for me because they get on my nerves with the noises they make. God knows what they're like when they're up to other things

They changed the red button again when I left the room and put Stan on BBC2. I'm starting to get suspicious!

Raahh no apparently he (Stan) hasn't - first time for everything but presumably his match fitness will come into it at some stage.

I want Tsitsipas to win! I want to see more diving volleys!!

As much as I'm enjoying the Tsitsipas match, I have to say I've been distracted by ump Carlos Ramos - pretty easy on the eye (and more age appropriate than the players)

I felt sorry for Mahut too- and the fact he came away with same money for his trouble, as one of the women who lost her match 6-0 6-1, in 28 minutes, or similar.

The umpire in the Isner match was very restrained. John was really being a brat. Very unbecoming for someone his age!

Gah! Too much to watch and I keep flitting from match to match. Saw the last set of the Makarova match. Amazed she won actually after losing the 4 set points in the penultimate game. Seemed that Woz wasn't on her usual form, I wonder why. It is a shame she's gone out because I like the way she usually works out a way to win. Cilic is looking very good.

Agree re. the Isner/Mahut match. There must be a better way of finishing a 5 set match (although it probably will never happen again to that extent).

Am I right in thinking that when I'm on iplayer on the tv they only show you a few different courts but iplayer on the laptop shows you a whole lot more - am I doing something wrong on the tv?

Come on Stan - I can’t seem to settle into watching anything but I’ve decided to ignore the housework and watch the Stan match - might not be on for much longer .

I also wanted mahut to win. I think he’d lost his mum not long before the match and cried in the changing room when he lost - so sad. Then Tim henman presented them with a glass vase or something.

John inner is just too tall - I know it’s not his fault and I don’t want to be rude about him but he is just unnaturally tall and his hands are huge.

Looks like Stan is finally waking up.

Poor Mahut- he's a Hobbit-y little fellow, but I've always had a soft spot for him. I was really pleased for him when he won the doubles title at RG this year. And his son did the floss.

I don't mind a bit of grunting but it does seem unnecessary on every point, especially when it gets to shrieking. I mean if Roger can put in maximum effort without grunting why can't everyone?!

Agree about Carlos Ramos

Also agree about some tennis players being too tall. They've just said that Karlovic is 6'11. That just seems like an obscene advantage.
