Loved season 1 and 2
Lost it in season 3 for me
Will watch though as I love the female leads
not so keen on Noah though!

I'm not sure why I'm still watching it. I have a soft spot for Noah ( and Trevor) , but I really dislike everyone else.
I found the last episode a bit pointless. It seems to have lost its way. Where can the characters go? The women in particular can't really be happy.

MrsAidanTurner · 25/07/2018 19:38

Oh nooooooooooooooo.

I can't bear for Cole to have any more heart ache, will this be them getting back together? Who ends up in the urn?!

I can't bear it. If Alison dies I will be furious.

Utterly furious. It's too much.

MrsAidanTurner · 25/07/2018 19:44

If luisa has joni then it's not luisa behind this because noah says...she's not called about joani (awful name).

Maybe it is Ben.

SuperSuperSuper · 25/07/2018 23:23

Not comfortable about the gratuitous female nudity in the last ep. As a pp said, those actresses couldn't make the stipulations that Ruth did, being lower profile and less successful. It seemed so tacky.

Loopytiles · 26/07/2018 12:44

It’s extra annoying when it’s supposedly a “high end” drama.

DH, who isn’t especially attuned to these things, commented that the two scenes with topless, younger, thin, very similar looking women, seemed gratuitous. He thought one of them was Witney!

Plus the scene in the flash car with the woman talking about sex, older men being better, basically propositioning him, apropos of nothing other than him buying a flash car!

Don’t know who said that a lot of shows aimed at women are written by men projecting their own thoughts and fantasies about women - this is a classic example. Probably doesn’t help that there are insufficient women (or even less sexist men!) in positions of authority in the industry to say “this is bullshit” and improve the writing!

Loopytiles · 26/07/2018 12:45

Hence my disappointment in the male actors. Joshua Jackson especially is A list and could potentially have done something about the scenes he was in. Or is it naive to think that even top actors can make a difference, even post Harvey Weinstein and “me too”?

PunchtheClock · 26/07/2018 15:58

Yes he seems a lovely bloke. He said he finds it hard dating after splitting up with his dp after ten years. Bless him.

I always always think of Dom West to be exactly like Noah. I have no evidence to support this Blush

TomHardysBackpack · 27/07/2018 15:07

I think they've announced that there will be one more series but it will be the last one.
It really annoyed me with the Delphine character..... "I'm not going to cheat on my wife"...... 24 hours later bam

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/07/2018 15:10

Yes if in a loving relationship the ivf and egg donor means a 40/50yr could get preg

I’ve worked for a few mums in my time as a maternity nurse who have done this

But

To have a baby with a man who know is dying to give his parents a grandchild is insane

Yep sexy young next door neighbour SYNDN will be preg

HannahnotAgnes · 28/07/2018 11:45

I felt sorry for Vik & the realisation his whole life was lived for his parents & nothing for himself - even the fact he was with Helen Just to wind his parents up. Buying the car seemed to be the first thing he'd done for himself.

Disappointed in Cole for cheating & also the sympathy shown to his fathers mistress - such a waste of their lives & such an abusive man all because he was unhappy & wanted to be with another woman. I want Cole to be happy but didn't like him cheating & agree the nudity was gratuitous.

5000FingersofDrT · 30/07/2018 15:41

Totally agree that the 'going walkabout' episode was quite remarkably bad. The hippy-dippy older woman-with-a-past, who - hey presto! - turns out to have shagged Cole's dad was all revealed in double-quick time. The scene with the party and then the girl showing him the bedroom and whipping off her top ('I come with the room') was just ludicrous.

So badly written (and, in places, acted), I cringed.

rookiemere · 31/07/2018 22:24

I'm watching it just now - really irritating , hippy woman almost as annoying as French professor from previous series
Just realised that I no longer give a hoot about any of the characters. In the first series both Helen and Alison were compelling and complicated plus there was actually the storyline about the murder. Now it's just limping on past its sell by date.

Should stop watching it really.

EachandEveryone · 01/08/2018 01:06

Omg how boring was that? How did she find out Ben was married? I was falling asleep into my Aldi gin. Why is noah so invested in her? She deceived him massively. I literally dont like any of them. And there is no point in showing each story. It doesnt even make sense anymore.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 01/08/2018 13:11

Watched all series 4 episodes in the last two days and loving it

Series 3 was so boring I wasn’t going to bother but glad I did

Though the walkabout episode was stupid so out of character for Cole he is practical and down to earth

Now I understand why Vic is with the annoying Helen I never got it

I quite like it being partly set in LA and the dofferemt lifestyle/attitude

thatone · 01/08/2018 16:20

I can't help thinking that Alison is a bit dim. She has no sense of safety, going out on a boat with a virtual (creepy) stranger, going alone to a strangers house (her dad, who raped her mum), and just leaving her daughter whenever she's upset. Agree with pp that it is very difficult to like any of the characters

EachandEveryone · 01/08/2018 19:37

Who did she leave the little girl with? What’s the tie with Noah really? They were only married five minutes and she deceived him massively. I missed how she found out the new guy is married?

thatone · 01/08/2018 19:48

She went to his office and his wife was there putting pictures on the wall.

HannahnotAgnes · 02/08/2018 00:06

I'm sure she was married to Noah for a couple of years.

EachandEveryone · 02/08/2018 10:51

And he was in jail for most of that

Loopytiles · 02/08/2018 17:48

Yes, made no sense that Alison would leave Joanie (albeit with her mum who is a good grandparent) to go to California and Noah. Especially when Joanie has suffered before due to her leaving, and when Cole is on walkabout.

Helen would have to be insane to agree to ttc with dying Vik given what his parents are like and her poor relationship with them!

Sunshinesaz86 · 03/08/2018 10:43

I’ve just found and read through this thread.

This series is definitely up on the last, I felt the wheels came off completely and wondered where any of it was going, I still feel they could of jumped straight to series 4 that’s how weird it was! Also hated the random French woman who was shagging her much younger student then onto Noah!

Going against the trend I enjoyed the walk about episode I feel it will have given Cole an insight into why his father was the way he was an answers some of his questions at least. Didn’t appreciate the girl in room scene though. He’d obviously decided by that point him and Luisa we’re going to end. I felt for the hippy lady the fact she never knew Gabriel had died or how he had died and also coles mother finding those letters after his fathers death!

I agree Alison plays the victim and doesn’t take any responsibility for her behaviour.

Really like Vik dislike Helen why are they even together? I know what Vik said about his parents but she’s also very scatty (like Alison). And I don’t get her lips is that bad filler or her acting pout? Or both? She looks confused ALL.THE.TIME

We better find out whether Trevor is gay or not (I can imagine them forgetting to finish that story and they have form) hopefully this series ends up going somewhere unlike the last.

TomHardysBackpack · 04/08/2018 10:15

I'm hoping this will be one of those series where all these random storylines and pieces of information come together in a massive WTF moment.

EachandEveryone · 04/08/2018 11:11

There is something going on in the lip department for both of them. It’s quite distracting

NotPennysBoat · 05/08/2018 08:35

Agree the lips are very distracting and also found myself wondering whether it feels weird to pout all the time or just becomes the norm...?

5000FingersofDrT · 05/08/2018 10:13

I think Maura Tierney has always pouted, to some extent, but she does it almost continuously now and it definitely looks odd. Oi, Maura! Pouting! Less of it, please! Grin
