Good God... how did they win best soap? The best soap is Molten Brown. Fact. (Lime and Patchouli, specifically!) What with dozy Rosie, booed Jude and airy-fairy Rosemary... think we'll all be reaching for the remote control by the time Jude has emerged from his kennel!

i really believed he had come to his senses and realized that Jenny has been wonderful to him

I'm with you. I think he has. I do hope so

eddiemairswife · 21/07/2018 15:54

Is it easy to run a pub? My son's friend's mother went into the pub landlord business, and she had to go on a training course first.

Honeyroar · 21/07/2018 16:10

Whether he's come to his senses or not (I'd say not, he's still nasty and bitter) it will still come out that he's slept with Liz...

Honeyroar · 21/07/2018 16:12

No I don't think running a pub would be easy. Most I know regularly get closed down and taken over. I guess the Rovers is different as everyone in the vicinity has their weddings, funerals, leaving dos, christenings and general dramatic family arguements there, so it must make money!

kikashi · 21/07/2018 16:44

Running a pub is not easy: 5 or 6 am deliveries, changing barrels, cleaning pipes, ordering and monitoring stock, managing bar staff, cooking staff, cleaners, getting the toilets fixed or clearing blockages, doing payroll and accounts, paying taxes to HMRC, running a kitchen and all that entails (unless you sublet that bit) - have to be open 7 days a week and long, long hours. Constantly thinking and trying new ways to bring in custom - quiz nights, live music, themed nights etc Pressure from the brewery if you are a tied house (if you do well they increase your rent often). It's very tough.

ATM the Rovers has no apparent food offer, cleaners or a strong person to change barrels and move crates etc. Seems to run with 1 person on bar duty. It was more realistically portrayed in Classic Corrie days.

Weatherfield is bucking the national trends- the pub is selling within a few weeks (rather than closing down) and there is competition for a shop unit (instead of it lying empty/becoming a charity shop).

SuperSuperSuper · 21/07/2018 17:59

Yes, the shop unit thing was odd. I can't believe a hardware store would make money when there's a B & Q on "the ring road". And surely Sinead would be better off operating from a market stall or via eBay/etsy? I don't know, I'm ignorant about that kind of business.

Deadringer · 21/07/2018 18:44

Weatherfield is awash with money it seems, most of the residents have their own business. However little business a hardware store would make, can you imagine how many customers a vintage clothes shop would attract in that area? And Sinead doesn't strike me as a business magnate.

Clionba · 21/07/2018 19:22

You bet your life Sineads little vintage clothes shop will be filled with purchasing customers , even though she'll spend every lunchtime at Roy's Rolls or in the Rovers.

coolncalm · 21/07/2018 19:23

Johnny is showing a very cunning nasty side to him if he's pretending ing to love Jenny just to serve his own purpose. I hope he comes unstuck, He doesn't deserve Jenny and he doesn't deserve Liz. Who does he think he is, he's hardly a great catch anyway.

crazycatgal · 22/07/2018 10:39

Sinead definitely has a Rochdale accent not Bury.

coolncalm · 22/07/2018 11:54

Where's Sinead getting the money from to refurbish and stock a shop, also the rent in advance. As always in Corrie the whole process from start to finish will happen by magic, probably within a week.

kikashi · 22/07/2018 11:59

Vinny's mum Flora gave her the money.

SgtFredColon · 22/07/2018 12:45

I can’t bear Kayla. Have to fast forward all her scenes. And Gemma and Henry - I didn’t mind Gemma before but this storyline is stupid. I also can’t stand Cathy and Brian or Jude and Angie and Mary. Skip all there scenes. So it takes me about 5 minutes to watch an episode of Corrie these days.

SgtFredColon · 22/07/2018 12:45

*their

SgtFredColon · 22/07/2018 12:46

I think Jenny is a fantastic actress. Loved her genuine concern for Johnny and giving the meds to Liz etc. Johnny is a prick (but a good actor!)

petrolpump28 · 22/07/2018 12:47

I thought there was going to be some massive mystery to Jude. But no, he is an abysmally wooden actor.

eddiemairswife · 22/07/2018 13:45

I suppose the massive mystery was that he never, ever had been a marine biologist.

Clionba · 22/07/2018 14:21

Jenny is excellent. She's bringing such pathos to the role.

coolncalm · 22/07/2018 14:54

I agree about Jenny, great actress, then compare her with the likes of Fizz, Sophie, Michelle, Leanne. Hmm

coolncalm · 22/07/2018 14:59

SgtFred I'm the same, there's so many scenes i can't bear to watch, Anything that has Fizz, Maria, Sean, Kayla, Sinead in. They irritate the hell out of me and their "acting" is painful to watch. I'm sure there's loads more, but they're just off the top of my head.

EachandEveryone · 22/07/2018 15:39

I wonder if the other ones that can act feel the same? It’s money for old rope

MrsSteveMcDonald · 22/07/2018 16:09

Not impressed with Steve being called a sloth in bed, he wouldn't be with me ;)

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 22/07/2018 16:46

Who in their right mind would open a vintage/customised clothing shop on a residential street in Wetherfield where the only person who shows even the slightest interest in vintage clothing is the dressmaker herself! A hardware store is far more sensible in a place like that.

EachandEveryone · 22/07/2018 17:17

It’s hardly Afflecks Palace

Seniorcitizen1 · 22/07/2018 20:29

My memory is that in the olden days Corrie attracted very good actors and actresses. Caught an episode of classic Corrie the other day and can’t believe what a terrible actress her who played Vers was - so poor very poor, makes even the likes of fizz sean etc look like oscar winners
