Dear God Swedish, you nearly said the most traitorest of things: that the UK might not be the best at something.

For all our faux modesty and self depreciation, we still don't like to admit that there are somethings we are a bit shut at, and others who are far smaller inferior to us, do better.

All this wanting to leave because we don't win, is just being sore losers and having a problem with the mere concept that it's the taking part that matters more.

Yesterday I had a Eurovision conversation with an Albanian man I know. (Obviously this sample of one is entirely representative of every European living in the UK!) He voted for Cyprus. He was telling me that everyone he knows back home is mad about Eurovision and there is much dissection of the songs and artists. Not quite the same here or in the other “Big Nations”.

I loved Blue but Lee Ryan screwed it up on the night.
It came 11th so even with the bum note still better than many recent UK entries.
but...that's not why I'm here!
