Anyone watching? Loved Mary and full of admiration for the crews, carrying on regardless. Why was it their job to check the suicide for notes though?

I've just watched this. Mary was brilliant - such fun.

WishingOnABar · 26/04/2018 22:06

My heart was in my mouth waiting to find out if Jessica was ok, the poor mother. Absolutely in awe of paramedics, she was up all night with her daughter and back on shift the next day

ilovemykittyy · 26/04/2018 22:06

Mary was lovely! Such a sweetie

Elvisola · 26/04/2018 22:08

Even though I'm full of compassion for the suicide victim I don't understand why they would also condemn 3 dogs to a horrible death by starvation?

I know mental health issues run deep but it really upset me that they could have starved to death before being found.

WishingOnABar · 26/04/2018 22:18

There was no electric when they arrived. I cant help but wonder if the suicide was financially motivated. There are so many people in dire straits who just cant see a way out atm Sad

purpleme12 · 26/04/2018 23:52

It's so affecting and real this programme. I could say so much about all the people.

I wonder if these people in the control room checking on the paramedics know a face to put to a voice. Do they meet these paramedics?

Ollivander84 · 27/04/2018 00:24

purple - yes sometimes, other times it's just a name and a voice but you might have been speaking to them for years and years!

CoolCarrie · 27/04/2018 00:31

It was sad tonight with the poor soul who ended his life, he was have been desperate to do that. I hope his dogs found good homes. The 101 year old lady was a sweetheart.

FatBallsAndSunflowerSeeds · 27/04/2018 12:26

It was an incredibly powerful episode, more like a drama like ER or something.

The 101 year old lady was incredible wasn't she. And all the HCP staff were wonderful caring people, including the mental health nurse who really got through to that man.

I lost it when they found the poor doggies. Don't know what that says about me TBH

Wendalicious · 27/04/2018 13:09

I was engrossed in this- mary was wonderful and that poor lady and her daughter x

MissEliza · 27/04/2018 14:43

I have to say I think Natalie the paramedic is an amazing person. I thought she was great in the last series but knowing her background, I have so much respect for her. Thank god her daughter was ok. Let's hope she continues to defy the odds.

Elvisola · 27/04/2018 16:00

I would love to be a paramedic. It's like my career calling but 20 years too late ☹️This programme makes me want to do it even more.

Toddlerteaplease · 28/04/2018 13:01

The 101 year old lady was just brilliant. Loved the flirting with the paramedic! I wondered about the dogs. Very sad.

I think the two "Nats" are a brilliant team - so mutually supportive.

We started to watch series one as my husband had done some stints of media training with members of the West Midlands Ambulance Service and was keen to see if anyone he had trained would be on the programme.
We became hooked, as it makes such brilliant TV: the best of human compassion (and humour) evident in each episode. My husband was in touch with the press officer yesterday, who said that Nat had been very anxious about the emergency with her own daughter being aired, but was reassured in the end that all would be well. The PO also said that this series will be a lot "darker" than the last (which was pretty evident from the hanging call-out) - featuring some fairly harrowing call-outs. The last series was happy endings, for the most part.

MissEliza · 28/04/2018 19:40

The way the hanging incident was filmed was chilling. They just showed Nat looking up and I couldn't figure out what was going on. It took a couple of minutes to figure out what was going on.
As someone else has said, I would love to be a paramedic but I'm too old (45). At our local carnival last year, they were letting people look around one. I think the guy thought I was a weirdo because I was asking way more questions than the little kids!

Olivo · 28/04/2018 20:01

Thank you, I didn't realise this was aka on. Luckily, my lovely sky box has picked it up and recorded it! Tonight's viewing sorted!

Cynara · 28/04/2018 20:06

MissEliza you are not too old. I'm a paramedic mentor and regularly work with trainee staff in their 50s. They have lots of life experience and are fantastic and an asset to the profession. If you want to do it, give it a go!

Blanikbalm · 28/04/2018 20:09

Elvisola, you wouldn't make a great paramedic if you can't even understand how someone who is about to KILL themselves isn't thinking clearly enough to rehome their dogs first.

Polkadot1974 · 28/04/2018 20:10

It was excellent. I didn’t watch enough to know what was wrong with her daughter? Is she ok? Mary was fabulous and I’d love to be like that

Findingdotty · 28/04/2018 21:31

I love this programme. So much better than most of the trash on tv and highlights the ups and downs our emergency service personnel face everyday.
OP, I also wondered why the paramedics were searching the body for notes. Especially when the police were present. I was curious about that.

purpleme12 · 28/04/2018 22:43

Yes I thought it would be a police job too.

I didn't think they'd put this programme on at the same time as 999 what's your emergency though. I watch both.

MissEliza · 28/04/2018 23:23

Cynara I'd love some advice.

Cynara · 29/04/2018 12:04

I've PM'd you MissEliza.

Blobbyweeble · 01/05/2018 22:13

MissEliza I qualified as a paramedic aged 50 as have a few of my colleagues. It’s never too late.

CoolCarrie · 02/05/2018 14:19

Go for it MissEliza!
