Anyone watching? Loved Mary and full of admiration for the crews, carrying on regardless. Why was it their job to check the suicide for notes though?

God, I’m sat here sobbing Sad

frazzled3ds · 31/05/2018 21:39

I really feel for all those involved in this episode - I can't begin to imagine how they feel...

DartfordBridge · 31/05/2018 21:40

Awful

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 31/05/2018 21:41

I’m about 15 mins behind but it doesn’t seem real. Just awful

TheBlackMadonna · 31/05/2018 21:45

Omg. How the hell they coped is amazing. I hope they’re all ok after witnessing such horror. They are truly beyond heroic

frazzled3ds · 31/05/2018 21:47

And now a shooting incident with armed police all over it too...... the guys and gals working as paramedics, controllers, police and fire personnel are angels, saints and amazing people. How on earth do they maintain a calm and composed 'front' when dealing with such trying situations?!

Toddlerteaplease · 31/05/2018 21:49

They are all amazing. I believe that case was in court a few days ago.

PuppetOnAString · 31/05/2018 21:58

I couldn’t be a paramedic, massive respect for what they have to deal with (I’m a nurse).

FoofFighter · 31/05/2018 21:59

Amazing people

PuppetOnAString · 31/05/2018 22:07

Bless her.

CoolCarrie · 31/05/2018 22:22

God that was so sad, the old lady and those people in the crash, I remember that incident on the news and poor taxi driver had 6 children left without a dad because the driver of the car was drugged up and speeding!

tapdancingmum · 31/05/2018 22:24

It was a very harrowing one tonight. Hats off to all of them. This programme really brings home how hard they work and what they have to go through.

I remember that happening as DD1 was living in Birmingham at the time and had been out for Christmas drinks. She was getting a taxi home and was fast asleep when I messaged her to see if she was ok.

My youngest was watching and now wants to be a paramedic.

Fantastic programme and look forward to the new series.

Micah · 31/05/2018 22:44

OP, I also wondered why the paramedics were searching the body for notes. Especially when the police were present. I was curious about that

Didn’t see the programme, but i think it’s because you can’t just assume suicide. If there’s a note, it’s evidence for. The paramedics will search because a) fewer people comtaminating the body the better, and b) the earlier a note is secured and documented the sooner a suicide can be declared. Plus chain of custody- by the time the paramedics, police, undertakers have been through everything it will no longer stand up in court as anyone could have placed it, or it could get lost in amongst belongings.

Very sobering watch

Ollivander84 · 31/05/2018 23:45

frazzled - you just have to do it. On one of my calls once, the caller had hung up but it carries on recording for a few seconds and you could hear me start to cry at the very end of the call
It's strange, tiny things like oversleeping will have me frantic but in an emergency I'm icy calm. Did CPR on a stranger (he survived) after he stopped breathing while I was out shopping, the whole time I was staring at his lanyard ID. Afterwards it was a bit "did that just happen?" And I couldn't even tell you what the ID said
You just deal with it and I amaze myself Grin
There are calls I've taken that I will never, ever forget

whatdoidonowffs · 01/06/2018 06:34

That guy who’d been shot in the ass though Angry they must have felt like dropping him

frazzled3ds · 01/06/2018 10:02

Ollivander - hats off to you, and your colleagues. After watching this series my admiration for emergency service personnel has increased massively, along with my frustrations at both the ever increasing pressures the services are under, and the sometime stupidity of people who thoughtlessly add to those pressures by not thinking sensibly about what they actually need.

Ollivander84 · 01/06/2018 10:02

Thank you. I've actually left after a decade Sad

MadisonAvenue · 01/06/2018 10:10

Last night's was difficult to watch with the horrific accident on Belgrave Middleway, especially after reading news reports of the inquest this week.

Definitely not a job I could do.

paradyning · 01/06/2018 20:10

That was incredibly sobering. One of the victims is known to colleagues sadly. So very surreal to watch.
Utmost respect
