Ok i'm all caught up, think it's going to be very close.

Oh my was there a tear in Johns eye at the end there

See you all tomorrow, and I would like thank you all for your company on ellentours.com to Lima Peru.

Erm, there are some outstanding fees for seats so if you could all oblige that would be great, @gofundellentours

The food in that fancy Peruvian restaurant - I have no words. I wouldn't have eaten any of it - sorry. It just looked like a load of unappetising pretentious nonsense to me - but what do I know?

The street food on the other hand looked fab - rice / chips - that soup of Alex's looked sublime - doughnuts etc. Good hearty grub and it was a nice move to feed the fishermen.

I am so biased towards Alex it's ridiculous. I find myself willing her to do well in every round. I've never had a 'favourite' before, but at the risk of sounding like a cliche - you can see how she's come out of her shell round by round and as someone said earlier - she cooks from the heart. I don't think she's going to win it and I think tomorrow it will be her or Kenny who goes.

The winner is already chosen I reckon ... but there is one who flies planes who maybe could upset the applecart?

Hope I'm completely wrong with my predictions and it is lovely Alex who raises the trophy on Friday.

I thought the same about the Peruvian restaurant - totally pretentious. Now a nice dish of lomo saltado - yes, I really liked that when I went to Peru. Washed down with a glass of Inca cola.

Ickyockycocky · 11/04/2018 22:17

I didn’t think death pilot did so well tonight. All that raw fish looked revolting to me.

OneInAMillionYou · 12/04/2018 01:58

I never enjoy this episode when they go to the restaurant abroad. This year I thought the food looked revolting. Dried Alpaca Heart shaved over Kenny's dish??? No thanks, very glad I don't live in Peru!

I think Greg is on Masterchef to fill some quota on the BBC, in the common as muck, thick as mince box! Every word he says irritates me.

The number of food professionals who could do a better job must be in the thousands.

Peregrina · 12/04/2018 07:24

No thanks, very glad I don't live in Peru!

There's plenty of good ordinary restaurants in Peru, although they do like their rice and chips. Miraflores, where they were, has whole streets of decent restaurants.

Did I miss it; did anyone cook cuy i.e. guinea pig? That is what David should have cooked up and made his signature dish. DH tried it when we were there - a bit chicken/rabbity, but not a lot of meat on it. Once was enough.

Paranormalbouquet · 12/04/2018 07:35

@Peregrina no guinea pig. Odd as it’s the national dish for celebrations etc. I suspect BBC were worried about offending pet owners!

Footle · 12/04/2018 08:24

I'd love Alex to win.

Peregrina · 12/04/2018 08:35

I think Nawamin will win myself, although David has definitely improved as the series has gone on. Some of the stuff Nawamin has produced looks absolutely ridiculous, but they don't seem to be able to get enough of it!

CaptainHammer · 12/04/2018 08:44

I’d like Alex to win too, she’s been my favourite from the start. The one I like the most never wins though, sorry fellow Alex fans!

My preferred order is Alex, Kenny, David and Nawamin. I don’t think Nawamin has grown or taken on as much as the others. Everything is Thai or has Thai influence when normally John/Greg moan that the contestant doesn’t have enough variation.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 12/04/2018 08:58

Oh my was there a tear in Johns eye at the end there

There would be more than one tear in my eye if I had had to pretend to savour that piranha-headed salty muck!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 12/04/2018 08:59

Almost anyone would be better! But what about Noel Fielding? Ge's lovely on Bake-off, and totally not up his own arse.

no guinea pig. Odd as it’s the national dish for celebrations etc. I suspect BBC were worried about offending pet owners!

Perhaps worried that no hutch would be safe from aspiring chefs Paranormal. Sad-face pictures of sobbing children pointing to an empty hutch, side-by-side with a photo of delicious guinea-pig en cocotte and with the headline "Who stole Mr Squeaky?" is not the sort of publicity the BBC are going for.

My preferred order is Alex, Kenny, David and Nawamin. I don’t think Nawamin has grown or taken on as much as the others.

Aye, aye to this Captain. Nawamin is pretty much a one-trick pony.

Alex is luvverley - she loves food, and has grown in skill and confidence, and really enjoys what she is doing.

She is also the only person I have ever seen who gets prettier and prettier that hotter and hotter the kitchen becomes. I have had to fight down my natural jealousy of anyone who can stride through steam and come out looking like a goddess.

Fontella · 12/04/2018 09:22

Well as we are naming names - I think the trophy has got Nawamin's name on it, and has done for some time.

I think David will be runner up.

Tonight, I think it will be either Alex or Kenny who goes.

I really hope I'm wrong as I would love Alex to win.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 12/04/2018 09:29

Sadly Fontanella, I think you will be proved right.

MissPiggysKarateChop · 12/04/2018 11:37

but I reckon its Nawamin or Moonira to win

They are my favourites but I'm slightly bias with Nawamin as I adore Thai food and I want to eat everything he makes.

MissPiggysKarateChop · 12/04/2018 11:38

I don’t think Nawamin has grown or taken on as much as the others.

I hate to say it (see my post above) as I love him but you do have a very good point here.

listsandbudgets · 12/04/2018 13:20

I think they should ban anything that derives from chilli or coconut in the next round and see how Nawamin fares. I like him but I actually cringed when he announced he was doing Thai Peruvian fusion last night. Can someone remind me whether he got through the Italian food round without coconut or chilli?

Best none Thai thing I've seen from him was that huge bread and butter pudding for the RAF

Zampa · 12/04/2018 16:33

I know he's the man we love to hate but this made me laugh -

inews.co.uk/light-relief/humour/gregg-wallace-masterchef-quotes/amp/

Would love Alex to win. Adored her fangirling chef last night. Kenny to go tonight, I think.

CaptainHammer · 12/04/2018 17:19

I can’t rememeber what he did for Italian week lists. Just had a look on Twitter to see if there was any photos. Couldn’t find one but Nawamin must have heard us, according to his twitter he is doing “fine dining British food” tonight!

Ickyockycocky · 12/04/2018 18:30

It's a really good point about Nawamin! I really want Alex to win, although Kenny would be okay too. I so don't want death pilot to win. His cooking seems clinical compared with the others who all seem to cook with their hearts.

ellenanora5 · 12/04/2018 19:36

Saliha who won last year never cooked much except her preferred cuisine, it drove me mad when she won, and I said she was earmarked as the winner from early on so ye I reckon Nawamin will win but I really want Alex to, and if she doesn't then Dave is my second choice.
