Shiney new thread for the final

OP posts:
SchadenfreudePersonified · 09/04/2018 21:59

Octopus and piranha.

I might just have a bag of crisps . . .

Paranormalbouquet · 09/04/2018 22:00

I was in Peru for a month as a poor student. I didn’t have any wanky food. Guinea pig, quinoa (well before it was popular) and chicken feet. All served a la plancha.

Papplewapplewoo · 09/04/2018 22:00

NO not moonira!

squoosh · 09/04/2018 22:00

Why are you gutted for Kenny? He's fine.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 09/04/2018 22:01

Does that mean they put it on a plate Paranormal?

Footle · 09/04/2018 22:01

Moonira just knew.
I think it's between Nawamin and David.

Fontella · 09/04/2018 22:02

I've never really minded who goes and who wins in Masterchef but I must admit in this series I really am rooting for Alex.

Out of all the contestants, she's the one whose food I would most like to eat and I also find her immensely likeable.

I hate to say it but I think we've already got our winner (and it's not Alex), but I'm glad she's still in.

Paranormalbouquet · 09/04/2018 22:08

@SchadenfreudePersonified I think it means grilled. Everything I could afford was grilled. And for some reason everything was served with cold veg.

My food budget was around £5 a day to be fair so unsurprising I didn’t get any Michelin standard meals! Lost a load of weight, came home lovely and thin after the Inca trail and awful food!

Paranormalbouquet · 09/04/2018 22:09

@Fontella I don’t think she’ll win either.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 09/04/2018 22:20

I would be thin too, Paranormal, if all I could buy was grilled guinea-pig and cold veg. I would only be able to eat the veg.

MrsTommyBanks · 09/04/2018 22:21

@squoosh (love your username btw)

I think because I empathise when you have a really good idea. But feck it up in the process. Also I like him. He seems like a decent young man. Maybe a good prospect for SchadenfreudePersonified DD Grin

MrsTommyBanks · 09/04/2018 22:24

Also I really like the look of that plate. It was right up my alley. I remember the seaside with my amazing Nan. Always seafood to be had.
Candy floss and donuts do the same.

Paranormalbouquet · 09/04/2018 22:25

@SchadenfreudePersonified they are very proud of eating guinea pig. The pictures of the last supper in churches feature a guinea pig! I didn’t really like it but I doubt I was getting the best of it.

Sadly I am the opposite of thin now. All this masterchef preparation goes straight to my thighs.

squoosh · 09/04/2018 22:26

I hate to say it but......if he promised to provide a private chef for Crimbo day I wouldn't put it past Schaden to try and set her daughter up with......Gregg!

(too far?)

MrsTommyBanks · 09/04/2018 22:33

@squoosh Anything to have a chef in the family you mean?
My DD is dating her second chef. It's not an easy occupation to deal with.

Lottapianos · 09/04/2018 22:35

Bad decision tonight. Would have preferred to see Alex go, although she's lovely too.

I'm glad I'm not the only one baffled by Moonira's hair Confused

Chef Tommy was a bit hunky, eh? I liked his food too. Lord and Lady were so posh that I wasn't entirely sure they weren't a pisstakeGrin

squoosh · 09/04/2018 22:36

MrsTommyBanks my experience of chefs is that they're a hard living lot.

Wh0Kn0wsWhereTheT1meG0es · 09/04/2018 22:37

Coming in late to the thread but we too want to know the secret of the hair, been discussing it this evening more than the food.

MrsTommyBanks · 09/04/2018 22:38

The previous one I had to hand over the Christmas gravy. I'm almost 50, I pride myself on my Christmas gravy. But his was better.
DDs current DP is a more accomplished chef apparently. I'm hoping she has left home by Christmas. I shall go to St Lucia and leave them to it Smile

MrsTommyBanks · 09/04/2018 22:39

Yes to the hard living. Tis a worry tbf.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 09/04/2018 22:55

Kenny is not svelte enough for my DD MrsTommy.

He always looks scruffy.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 09/04/2018 23:02

squoosh

Wash your keyboard out!!!!!

There is no way the gurning grocer would get anywhere near the fruit of my womb - if he was the last man* on earth and the only person with access to a professional chef, then I would live on raw kale and parsnips.

If she chose to frolic with him of her own free will, I would beat her to death with stick of celery. It would be a kindness.

*man in the technical sense

Paranormalbouquet · 09/04/2018 23:02

Kenny is married? He talked about his wedding meal one night?

MolliewithOllie · 10/04/2018 07:13

I find Nawamin a bit too 'try hard' with his cooking/plating up
He did mess up with the Yorkshire meal - his fondants did not rise! He is excellent at Thai food and OTT plating so I can see him running a cliquey 'Thai with a differance' foodie restaurant but I prefer my masterchefs more flexible.
I think Noomira did well with the 'posh meal' as she was a bit out of her depth with scallops and celeriac.

BertrandRussell · 10/04/2018 07:19

My dd works in a Thai restaurant and they taught her how to carve vegetables in a couple of hours. For a while no carrot was safe and we had two very baffled ponies.
