I know, all the cliches, well, one obvious one anyway! But I do enjoy watching this, seeing the contestants develop confidence, improve their techniques and grow as artists is very satisfying. Not being a painter I don't understand how to put paint on paper and make it look like anything but flat colour, but watching and listening to the painters and their mentors really opens my eyes.

Too early for a favourite yet, but I like the young guy who does the photo realism, I think he will loosen up and produce something amazing as the series progresses.

Oh goody a thread. I love this show. Glad pascal is back and the other one. Can’t believe Ray is 90!

The public always pick the one I hate the most. I secrey think they feel sorry for them and think well they are bound to be booted off let give them a pass.

Yes love photo guy though how he makes things in short space of time I don’t know.

FlaviaAlbia · 01/04/2018 19:57

Oh, I love this and I didn't realise it was back on, thanks viques!

LIZS · 01/04/2018 20:02

Like Ray and think he handled the advice better than others. Not sure about Chris, being vi must make it tricky to consider his work alongside the others.

RebootYourEngine · 01/04/2018 20:08

I am so glad this is back. Not sure the right person went this week.

FeistyColl · 01/04/2018 21:53

Just watched it and was surprised by both the artist saved by the public and the one sent home by the judges ... Loved Daphne saying the public had a sense of humour!!

PinkBuffalo · 01/04/2018 22:10

akire the public always pick the one I think is the worst too Grin
If Lachlan wasn't in it, it wouldn't be the same. I love him so much!

RebootYourEngine · 02/04/2018 04:29

I think the girl who was saved should have gone home, i know she does abstract paintings but they just looked very amateur.

Springnowplease · 02/04/2018 06:33

So glad there's a thread about it. I love the show. I think the public had a sense pf humour as well, she should have gone.

GnotherGnu · 02/04/2018 09:49

I'm a bit surprised they'd take someone who so obviously struggles with figurative painting, but maybe they hope she will learn as the series progresses. It'll be interesting to see if she does.

Akire · 02/04/2018 09:59

Glad others agree with me about Booksni. Her dress from still life just looked like a blob no depth at all and they had about 3h!! Plus she brought dress so if was me I’d have practised or if fabric wasn’t my thing (it so isn’t) I would brough something else.

The photo guy was amazing. If I spent 500h on a picture it would never look that good. So glossy and real.

I think maybe sent her home because they kept saying to her or you saw sitting then paint sitting. She was ignoring so maybe she booted herself for not listening. Unlike Ray who was doing everything.

Hands up who’s inspired to write their paints out? Anyone up for a painting challenge? Grin

FlaviaAlbia · 02/04/2018 10:19

Good point Akire they did really emphasise it was about who could learn and progress the most so it could have been that.

I loved Bokani's paintings in the preview, they were the only ones that made me look twice.

Akire · 08/04/2018 18:03

BUmps thread ready for tonight

Springnowplease · 08/04/2018 18:03

It's on now!

Akire · 08/04/2018 18:07

I know Grin Don’t fancy dog painting myself. 2h not very long

Akire · 08/04/2018 18:13

Susan Is trying do what someone did last year with dancers, doing lots to show movement. It’s not working so far.

Poor ray don’t think water colours are helping.

Akire · 08/04/2018 18:18

I really liked janes, some dog poses are lovely. Can’t beilve she didn’t attempt a painting. She must be on naughty list to go

Springnowplease · 08/04/2018 18:52

Bokani's on the bus, I think.

MissWimpyDimple · 08/04/2018 18:56

Bokani is dreadful.

We love this and do a "paint-a-long" every week 😀

Akire · 08/04/2018 18:56

RAy was also close. I really liked janes, thought Oliver’s was much worse.

Akire · 08/04/2018 18:57

Oh what do you paint?

viques · 08/04/2018 19:10

Oh damn, missed the dog bit, will have to go back and watch it on iplayer - why doesn't the BBC do a plus I function, makes life so much easier for forgetful people !

Right choice for Bukani to go home I think, I hope Ray stays for a bit, he is having fun, learning and trying to develop as a painter and I think he is terrific. I am cross with the ones who are not picking up the clues about observation, it has been emphasised enough.

We do a very amateur attempt at whatever they are doing. DD is 11 and I'm not very good but we give it a shot! These are this weeks doggy portraits!

love this

the action man guy is great :)

FuzzyCustard · 08/04/2018 19:36

Hurrah, A thread!
DH and I both love this programme.

At the moment my favourite is Anil and I think the right person went today. She seemed to have no confidence in her painting, despite talking the talk. Her dog looked like a Goth Dog from Hell.

It definitely makes me want to get my paints out again.

FeistyColl · 08/04/2018 20:11

The public had less of a sense of humour today Wink
