TBF, whilst I agree he's a shit actor, I'm assuming he's been told to play the withdrawal that way, that's the scriptwriters fault.
I'm addicted to prescription painkillers, lots of people are, and that's ok if you have chronic pain, you don't exceed the dose and it's managed by a Dr, (I'm under the care of a pain clinic).
If there's ever a time they can be changed, or I can come off them it will be managed.
That's why this is ridiculous.

Billy did see the GP last week and she wanted to refer him to a pain clinic but he flounced out saying he couldn't wait. You would also get advice from Izzy since her pain seems to be under control these days. But I know - it's a soap not RL

Yes but he denied being addicted. If he had said he was, which he is, she could have arranged the right help.

I’m not sure how much help she could given him on illegal drugs. She couldn’t have given him any more. Presume drug detox spaces are few and far between.

Does seem strange for long term condition to day here have two weeks worth then any more pain you have wait weeks/months to see someone.

Surely there is something in place to help people addicted to either prescription or illegal drugs?

If he'd been taking more of his proper prescription pain meds then he'd likely puke and feel terrible in that short space of time.
To develop a tolerance big enough for an addiction that takes over the prescribed dose would take months, and there's other pain meds you can have.
I have three as standard, a fourth added in if necessary and two of them could be increased in dose.

My dh has currently replaced his usual shout at the TV of "Go to the police" to "Go to the doctors"

I was really impressed how Billys brother refused to help and was making him suffer. Then it was ruined when he gave him that methadone more suffering to endure

Definitely something very wrong with Aidan 's life. I kept thinking he had discovered he was dying, but the docs would have found that out before the transplant, wouldn't they?

He gets upset whenever someone praises him for being a hero, I think its guilt and he is up to some sort of skulduggery. My best bet is fraud of some kind, perhaps he has mortgaged johnny or carla's flat. I can't guess the motive though, debts maybe, surely they won't do gambling again.

Did Johnny ever buy the flat from Carla or is he still renting. How did Carla mass enough to but a house in Devon and have £25k+ spare to bail out Aidan after all her gambling?

Carla was skint not so long ago, she gambled loads of money away and stole from Nick. He had to bail her out financially and forgave her. Now she has a flat in Victoria Court and a house in Devon. None of it makes sense.
