Like the title? I think she was either, with that laugh!

@Hygge this is the spoiler-free thread. People on tgis tgread specifically don't want to know what's said in adverts, papers, magazines, online etc.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 21/03/2018 21:23

I was a bit Hmm when Carla poured herself a glass of wine thought she would be a bit more cautious. it’s amazing how you can get a new kidney these days and be out of hospital with 48 hours, living your life as before, she is a medical marvel that one! Looking forward to the showdown with ‘Chelle when she finds out Carla has been bumping uglies with her son!

ChevalierTialys · 21/03/2018 21:24

Wasn't the anniversary or Ruari's death a few months ago? Michelle went to the beach where they scattered his ashes and got mad at Steve for taking Oliver there. Or did I dream that?

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 21/03/2018 21:26

Also disappointed that Sally’s house revamp is just a jokey side show, I have been itching for them to rip the 90’s style wallpaper off and put in an up to date kitchen, it’s still the same decor that Claire and Ashley put up ffs!

SumAndSubstance · 21/03/2018 21:37

In addition to the totally absurd baby triangle, I can't cope with Michelle's sudden angst over her son coming to the wedding. She had totally forgotten about this son/not son and is only thinking of inviting him because he (totally plausibly) ended up doing a placement in her local GP surgery. She's totally forgotten about her other son/not son Ryan. Is he invited to the wedding?

YoohooDorothy · 21/03/2018 22:30

Fair enough @ChevalierTialys i'm pleased that it was referenced! Google tells me it was January, i thought it was a little later!

Kikashi · 21/03/2018 22:38

Ali is the most unconvincing trainee GP ever. Also, surely if he had explained even slightly what had happened to him there is no way he would have been given that placement.

YoohooDorothy · 22/03/2018 07:26

Yeah Ali is quite cocky and mardy for a caring profession like a GP. He doesn't seem like he has got much patience or empathy. It doesn't fit with his personality that he would have just accepted this placement.

The80sweregreat · 22/03/2018 10:04

started watching again - not tuned in since the late 80s!

was David raped? did the other man drug him?

it seems very dark at the moment with Phelan. - i only know a few stories from reading tv guides, there are a few faces still around i noticed - Steve mcdonald and Gail's mum, i remember her coming in the show the first time around. ( im old)

HarryPottersSecretSister · 22/03/2018 10:31

SumAndSubstance yes - Ryan is invited to the wedding. When Carla and Michelle were sitting at the table going on about the seating plan, M mentioned she'd been speaking to Ryan about the wedding and they were laughing about how he probably asked if he could DJ and could he borrow a few pound for a suit.

Agree its ridiculous though.

I only watched the first episode last night. Little Ruby breaks my heart. The actress is the most adorable little thing ever. Really upset me when Ty slapped her Sad

SumAndSubstance · 22/03/2018 10:59

Ah, thank you - I missed that about Ryan. I'll let them off a little bit, but it's still stupid Grin.

And yes, Ruby is adorable! She's also a much better actor than many of the adults.
As for Ali being cocky and mardy, yes he is. Why does he have to stand all the time with his chin pointing at the ceiling?

Woollysheepsheep · 22/03/2018 12:00

I couldn't watch the bit last night when Tyrone hit Ruby.

It made me soooo angry (I have to remember it's not real), how can he call his ex Kirsty a psycho then himself hit a small defenceless little girl.

Then he blamed Fiz that he'd hit her (and I absolutely hate Fiz), but no Tyrone, you hit her and are in control of your own actions.

MolliewithOllie · 22/03/2018 13:31

CS is NOT real - no-one was hurt in the filming Hmm
It was meant to be a very light tap on her leg - (done so quickly that it was difficult to tell that actually no contact was made.)
They were acting. Really I get far more upset by real-life child abuse that goes on and does not get reported on until a child is seriously hurt or dies. That is what I reserve my anger for.

HarryPottersSecretSister · 22/03/2018 14:20

Eh Mollie people tend to watch television programmes/ films and read books and pretend that they are real. That's the point of them. We are aware they are acting. I strongly suspect that I can speak for anyone else when I say of course we are all far more upset by real-life child abuse than what we see on television/ read but it still causes a reaction (as its intended to do)

Woollysheepsheep · 22/03/2018 14:26

I do know it's not real.

I was angry with Tyrone the character. Not Alan Halsall the actor. Same as I hate Fizz, but I don't actually hate Jennie McAlpine.

I thought the whole point of this thread was to discuss the show.

ElspethFlashman · 22/03/2018 14:38

I havent watched this show since Hayley ended her life, but caught up with the rape episode as David was always one of my favourite characters.

Can someone explain to me please who the hell is his girlfriend? And how they are all still living with his Mum?

Oh and how many kids does he have now??? I cant imagine him as a Dad at all. Hes so young and mardy.

HarryPottersSecretSister · 22/03/2018 14:41

Elspeth he has two kids. Max is his stepson and Lily is his daughter.

He's a widow now and his girlfriend is the mother of the teenager who stabbed and murdered his (David's) wife (yep!).

He's still living with his mum but he bought out the house so she's kind of his lodger now.

And just so you're aware - David wasn't actually raped. They were acting. The programme isn't actually real - no one was raped during the filming of David's rape scene. Its not allowed to affect you in any way.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 22/03/2018 15:22

Shock

Hmm err thanks for that.

Why are you on the thread?

southeastdweller · 22/03/2018 15:23

Mollie It’s actually possible to be angry at fictionalised physical abuse at the same time as being angry about real life abuse.

Hygge · 22/03/2018 15:26

Smeaton I think that Blondie Buttock and Boingo are half-brothers aren't they?

Kylie and Callum had Blondie Buttock, then split up. David became Blondie Buttock's step-dad.

Whoysit Platt then met Callum while he was visiting Blondie Buttock, and they had Boingo, although by that point I think Callum was buried under the extension.

So baby Boingo lives with both of his half-siblings, Blondie Buttock (as David's child) and Bethany (as Whoysit's daughter).
