Is Summer a really poor actress? In the scene with Amy last night the contrast between them was quite striking. Summer spoke in the same tone throughout.

Yes, that was a very awkward scene. I used to think Amy was rather good, but now she has the same cocky sneering manner for nearly all her dialogue, no light and shade at all. And Summer is just rather wooden.

I also thought the scene with Summer and Amy was wooden. Summer isn't very good - she even looked like she was recalling her lines at one point before she spoke.

Fizz telling TY to leave ! - it's his house. She was staying at Chesney's. Is Fizz going to look after Ruby - if not where is Ty supposed to take her?

I agree Ty was wrong to sleep with Gemma but Fizz was dreadful about Ruby.

I think Tyrone was absolutely right to sleep with Gemma. Can't bloody stand Fizz and her bleating on about poor 'Ope and evil Rubah.

Yes, I noticed that the acting in the Summer/Amy scene was dreadful, but normally I think the actress who plays Summer is much better than that.

How come we can all tell that it's Hope who's doing all the mischief, but the thought hasn't even crossed Tyrone's mind?!

I agree about Amy and her cocky sneering attitude. It's the same in every scene. Does she ever smile. She'd be horrible to be around. I know she's only young but it's awful acting. Why can't she just be normal.

The only time Amy showed any vulnerability was at the party, when the boy tried to get her to go further than kissing. She acted that well, and it made a nice change from the unrelenting arrogance. The writers want her to be a mini Tracy which is fine and makes sense, but she shouldn't be one-dimensional. In Classic Corrie, Jenny is a teenager and her character is nuanced. I seem to remember Tyrone, Fiz, Maria et al being well-written youth characters 15 odd years ago, and Steve, Leanne, Maxine etc before that. It's a shame they can't write for teenagers now, nor give the actors guidance.

They should do what they did with Tracey I, send her upstairs to listen to cassettes for five years and then re-introduce her character with a new actress.

Agree that summer is very monotone, they need to give her far fewer lines; she only has one expression too. Amy is just passable but in that scene her performance was oscar worthy compared to summer's. I wonder if Joseph will start getting naughty now if he starts hanging out with Hope.

I was also distracted by the tiny top loader and also by the condom wrapper. It seemed a very inferior type, certainly no product placement from Durex - with weird orange and pink graphics/ markings on the packet (kind of fake Chinese writing). Who supplied it - they were both meant to be "bladdered" and Gemma's bag was downstairs. Guess there won't be the traditional Corrie one night stand pregnancy.

Why are they even showing condom wrapppers before the watershed, as if they'd have done that years ago. Why should we have to explain what they are to kids. It's gone so tacky now, no thought for the younger viewers.

I thought the same. I suppose they're working on the basis that nobody is ever completely evil, or completely good. Makes for more credible characters, maybe?

Yes that’s probably it. I suppose because summer is no threat at all to him he can be sweetness and light as he doesn’t need to keep her in her place. She isn’t challenging him over anything.

I agree logicalmum, I hated the lap dancing scenes too, no need for them.
