I don't think it's a good as it was when it first started, and it can be a tad predictable at times but I still love this show

This episode seemed to go on for ages!

Actress playing Trixie was so obviously pregnant! We’ve already had the alcoholic story line, why can’t the writers just let her be happy with the dentist?

I found the two wives thing rather patronising and it all worked out a bit too happy. Dr Turner comparing his own situation to having two wives?!

Hmm well I am wrong about the sewing machine injury then I guess! I do sew quite a bit but won't try sewing over my finger to test out the theory... Smile
The two wives storyline and Dr Turner... argh. Had to switch off and remove the batteries from my feminist-o-meter on this episode. The "good" husband hugging both his wives made me retch.

Glad to see a the nuns being more involved again. It really works better with them as well as the midwives/nurses.

I still can't get over how noticeable Trixie's pregnancy was last night. Even DH noticed ffs! And when Sister Julienne was telling her she could have 6 months off her eyes kept dropping from Trixie's face to where her bump would be which made me wonder whether she was supposed to be pregnant in series or not especially with the stuff earlier in the series about sharing a hotel room with the dentist. Compared to the rest of the series where they've been very careful to keep it hidden, it was almost ridiculous how obvious her bump was throughout.

It would have been a more realistic storyline if the older wife had completely taken over the baby, and the young girl was seen watching them with slight jealousy, even though she didn't want the baby at first. Anyone else wondering what the sleeping arrangements were in that household?

I had really hoped Trixie and Christopher were going to work out! It would be nice to see her have some happiness.

And I was expecting the young Indian girl to do a runner leaving the cousin and husband to bring up the baby they'd longed for. I felt the happy family conclusion wasn't realistic.

The vow of obedience only applies to the church and the order. I,e, going where she is sent. Even if she doesn't want to go. Friends who are priests/ or religious think it's the hardest vow to obey as you have to relinquish control of your own life. Medical things wouldn't be covered by a vow of obedience.

That's exactly how I read it. I thought we were supposed to think Trixie was pregnant and that's the real reason she broke it off with Christopher - she doesn't want to feel as though she's co-ercing him into marrying her. Giving her six months off, and thereby effectively throwing her out of her home and cutting her off from her support network, doesn't make sense except to allow her to have the baby with the option of coming back as though it had never happened.

Sister MJ has become increasingly lucid since the series started. She's getting younger every day.

Actually I wasn't aware the actress was pregnant. Now you mention it she did look bigger than the thin as rake usual trixy I suppose.
It was a good episode but I agree there is a lot more tolerance than there would have been in the real 60s. Still it's a good show.

I like sister MJ and am glad she had the operation. The polygamy issue was quite well done. I tink the age of consent was 16 then as now so altyough she can have her baby she can't have sexual relationship with her husband again in England until she is 16 and couldn't then although I doubt anyone is policing then or now every 15 year old girl in the country.

That episode felt very much like modern sensibilities imposed on the 60s with the second (under age) wife.

Modern sensibilities would have had the husband beaten as a “paedophile”.

Never has Trixie worn so much loose clothing.
Bit desperate to have her splitting from her boyfriend and turning to alcohol surely.
