I certainly am

I don't think it's a good as it was when it first started, and it can be a tad predictable at times but I still love this show

Meow, my sister won't watch CTM since they all sat around knitting a blanket for Chummy. When it was given to her it was crochet!

Looking forward to it. But wish there was less Dr Turner. He rarely turned up in earlier series and the midwives dealt with most things. Now he's taken over.

BeyondWW · 18/01/2018 11:06

Dunno - Dr turners growing presence demonstrates the recent medicalisation of childbirth quite nicely. Won't be long and everyone will be in hospital (we've passed my parents DOBs and only one of them was born at home)

Toddlerteaplease · 18/01/2018 11:23

You are right, he's just annoying!!

MustBeThursday · 18/01/2018 13:14

Toddler ooh that mistake with the knitting/crochet blanket really annoyed me too!

To fairly represent Doctors taking over care more, they need an additional - not the writers husband - doctor to come in. Maybe she has a brother or an uncle who can do one facial expression too... Wink

I'll be watching, I love it Grin

Same as a few others here I've just rewatched it all on netflix, the first couple of series were bloody brilliant, I'd forgotten how good they were

CaptainHammer · 18/01/2018 15:46

I’m looking forward to it though Patsy and Delias relationship was my favourite part so it’ll be a shame they aren’t coming back.

LineysRuff · 18/01/2018 16:25

I watch it for Judy Parfitt. Sister Monica Joan's vocabulary is awesome.

Toddlerteaplease · 20/01/2018 17:03

Yes. But she's gone too lucid.

MissMarplesBloomers · 20/01/2018 17:55

Can't wait! It's all set in a part of London that is not far (although t'other side of the Thames) to where I lived and worked as a student nurse, the characters are very familiar although 20+ years before my time!

It has dealt with some gritty social/ medical issues very well I think & yes agree with PP, the doctors role in midwifery started becoming more dominant where previously midwives were the main professionals. No coincidence that C-sections increased after that time too.

Sidsreadingdiary · 20/01/2018 20:36

Beyond, I think the actor who plays the doctor has several brothers who all look a bit like him and can do a similar facial expression.

Alisvolatpropiis · 20/01/2018 20:42

Me! I love it, although I do think it is very noticeable when they moved from Jennifer Worth’s memoirs to random storylines. I think the same about Game of Thrones mind. A book source seems to provide a tighter storyline.

Littlelambpeep · 20/01/2018 20:44

My favourite programme. Agree it is slightly predictable but still love it

scrabbler3 · 20/01/2018 22:05

It's a shame that patsy and delia won't be returning.

I hope that the attraction between Phyllis and the policeman (hinted at during the Christmas ep) comes to something.

RainbowPastel · 20/01/2018 22:36

I hope Shelagh goes out of it. She is the most annoying character.

Toddlerteaplease · 20/01/2018 22:43

Is Cynthia coming back? Would like to see a resolution to her story, though she annoyed me.

scrabbler3 · 20/01/2018 23:40

I don't think so. I read somewhere that the actress (Bryony..?) wants to do other things. I hope I'm wrong!

Housewife2010 · 21/01/2018 18:26

I miss Patsy who was my favourite. I've foynd mannered Trixie more and mire irritating over the years ( I used to like her). Patsy had a beautiful voice and was a great character.

gabsdot · 21/01/2018 19:51

I like Dr Turner. He's very handsome IMO.
But I was very offended at the Christmas special.
I hadn't seen CTM since last years Christmas special so I didn't know that Sheila had a baby.
She was on the phone to Sister Julienne talking about how she wasn't ready to leave the baby to come back to work and SJ said "don't worry, you've waited a long time for this".
It's as if her adopted daughter was just a space filler until the she finally had real, own baby. As if she couldn't possibly be truly fulfilled with just an adopted child

Ugh!!! I was very annoyed. (I'm an adoptive mum BTW)

CannotEvenThink · 21/01/2018 20:01

It's Time!

CannotEvenThink · 21/01/2018 20:24

Oh yay, Patsy and Deliah are seeing the world together. It makes me sad they have left the series but I'm so glad they are together.

Heratnumber7 · 21/01/2018 20:27

Oh my good God! Call the Midwife is now 2 years after I was born. I am feel very old.

CannotEvenThink · 21/01/2018 20:36

I spy rhesus incompatibility.
