I certainly am

I don't think it's a good as it was when it first started, and it can be a tad predictable at times but I still love this show

They should have let the first wife keep the baby and the child bride packed off back to Pakistan. Tidy.

MargotLovedTom1 · 12/02/2018 19:21

Loose clothing?! That stripey affair was a maternity smock in all but name Grin.

iklboo · 12/02/2018 19:26

I really get the urge to give Dr Smuggy McPatroniser a twazz round the head with a sock full of set baby formula. With a run up. To music.

Every week - 'Sigh, frown, shrug, look down, hand gesture, life affirming speech that suddenly shatters prejudices and changes people's deep rooted ideas, opinions and life choices'.

It really was that was a mothercare jobbie Grin

MrsJayy · 12/02/2018 19:36

I remember threads with us swooning and dreamy Dr Turner now we want to slap him about the face with filled socks !!

MargotLovedTom1 · 12/02/2018 19:58

I can't hold it in any longer (2): I like Dr Turner.

Toddlerteaplease · 12/02/2018 21:07

My best friend met Stephen McGann the other day. He sent me a selfie of him with him. Can't post it as it's very outing.

SadieHH · 12/02/2018 21:08

He’s super charming in the flesh, have met him many times. But he’s very fond of himself. Very fond indeed.

Toddlerteaplease · 12/02/2018 21:09

Yes, that's what my friend said. The rest of the clan were there as well. And constantly acting, so my friend though!

BertieBotts · 12/02/2018 21:13

I genuinely can't remember if he was anything like this in the earlier series - wasn't he much more brusque?

iklboo · 12/02/2018 21:36

It's since he gave up the fags Grin

SweetestThing · 12/02/2018 22:12

I hate the doctor's simpering, sickly, patronising smile.

I feel better now I've said that.

damnsandra · 12/02/2018 22:18

He's just in it too much.

Early on he was just a bit part.

Since the thalidomide story I'm sure he's taken centre stage.

Gurning git.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 12/02/2018 23:13

Agree that there was no attempt at hiding the bump this week! The whole 6 months off felt like they were giving trixie mat leave.

Thought sister julienne telling the 1st wife to make the best of it was a bit off, she had every right to be pissed off ffs!

Kitsandkids · 12/02/2018 23:27

I think everyone accepted the second wife scenario a bit too easily. She was 15 ffs. Isn't Timothy about that now? Surely Dr Turner would have thought that really inappropriate, and had something to say at least behind the husband's back, if not to his face!

And the nun at the end, smiling at the happy family. I don't think many people would really approve!

I thought they were going to kill off the girl after the birth, leaving the first wife to raise the baby. Though that would have been a bit too 'convenient.'

MargotLovedTom1 · 13/02/2018 01:31

Yes, Sister Winifred is the most judgemental of all the nuns; it didn't ring true that she would have simpered at the happy threesome + baby scenario.

Thinking about it, all the regular characters are either practical types or simperers with not much in between. Patsy was great because she had a lot about her and didn't simper; she was far too cool for that. I wonder if 'simper

MargotLovedTom1 · 13/02/2018 01:32

.....'simper' is the most used word on this thread? Grin

iklboo · 13/02/2018 07:10

Simperly the best Grin

I used to lol at SW judginess she would say nothing but glide by conversations judging Grin . Isn't Stephen Mcgans wife produce the programe ? Since the books ended Dr turner has been in the forefront

Clawdy · 13/02/2018 09:36

His wife is Heidi Thomas, who writes and produces the programme. Apparently the series will run until at least 2020.

GinIsIn · 13/02/2018 09:43

Re Trixie - Helen George’s baby was premature so I assumed that by the time they were filming the exit strategy scenes, she’d had the baby and so they weren’t masking her anymore, but she was just a bit bigger because she’d recently given birth?

SoupDragon · 13/02/2018 10:25

I wonder if they had to rush filming the exit scenes when Helen George became unwell. I think that’s why her baby was early.

She says she had a “send off” from the cast and crew before her maternity leave so it doesn’t seem like she’s left unexpectedly and had to finish filming later. Maybe the exit scenes were always going to be slightly odd.

BrutusMcDogface · 13/02/2018 11:02

She had her baby shower with the baby present, didn't she? I'm not sure of details but it did seem rather rushed, and she did look very very pregnant in some scenes and not so much in others.

Vestly · 13/02/2018 11:58

Omg she had one of those cakes with the belly, the baby emerging and them wielding the knife into it!
