I certainly am

I don't think it's a good as it was when it first started, and it can be a tad predictable at times but I still love this show

I'd never watched it before the Xmas special, which I watched at the weekend. All I could think about was a post I'd read (maybe on a thread to do with what you can waffle on about for ages?), that said how beautifully paired the colours were. And they were - gloriously so!

So yes, I'm looking forward to it, to see the lovely colours.

BeyondWW · 16/01/2018 11:02

Me!! Yes it can be a bit predictable and a bit umm... twee at times, but I love it

isittheholidaysyet · 16/01/2018 11:05

Well, I'm excited now I've read your OP. Thanks for letting me know.
I shall be in front of the telly at the appointed time!

HollyJollyDillydolly · 16/01/2018 11:14

Me! Love CTM

Housewife2010 · 16/01/2018 11:26

I adore it. Because In spite of the tweeness Grin

Katescurios · 16/01/2018 12:48

So so excited and also already dreading the end of the far too short series. Call the midwife is the only programme I watch on TV, o just so Netflix for box sets otherwise.

My husband and all friends and family know not to contact me during CTM or they will be ignored till they go away!

BikeRunSki · 16/01/2018 12:52

Meeeeeee!!!!
DH texted me when I was out one evening last week when he saw the trailer, to let me know. Love him. Smile

Bochdew · 16/01/2018 12:59

Ooh I haven't even got around to watching the xmas special yet! Must get a move on.

CompassionateKebab · 16/01/2018 13:00

I love it.

Mrsknackered · 16/01/2018 14:18

It's twee, acting is crap at times, predictable, medical side of things are questionable.

But I really bloody love it and can't wait.

I was a little Hmm at the Christmas special though, it had a lot of heavy going topics that could've really hit a nerve for some (and little prewarning)

AnneEyhtMeyer · 16/01/2018 23:03

I'm not holding out much hope after the Christmas episode and a trailer I saw which looked like the awful awful doctor and his simpering wife will still feature heavily.

I was also a bit Hmm when I saw an article where the doctor's real-life wife who is the writer described herself as the creator of the series, seemingly overlooking Jennifer Worth.

That’s what I want on a Sunday evening

Tigresswoods · 17/01/2018 13:07

I love CTM & have watched it from the outset BUT it totally has got a bit twee. The Xmas episode especially was one to forget.

Also, & I may get flamed for this, I'm very up for showing the multi cultural side of London at that time but I feel the non-white characters are always a bit one dimensional & their only story as such is that they're non-white. The new midwife has been described as a "person of colour" & I hope there's more to her & she's not just another simpering lovely person.

Bring on the grittiness of the first few seasons, I don't want pretty dresses & community parties.

JustDanceAddict · 17/01/2018 18:10

MEEee! I love ctm - great Sunday night winter viewing.

Fallulah · 17/01/2018 18:12

Haven't seen the trailer - any sign of Chummy or Jenny coming back? I too am sick of Trixie.

Tigresswoods · 17/01/2018 18:15

Nah, those actresses don't have time for CTM!

Chrisinthemorning · 17/01/2018 18:18

Me too- just re watched from the beginning on Netflix Grin

NNchangedforthis · 17/01/2018 18:29

Me too Chris - just finished!

NewtScamandersNaughtyNiffler · 17/01/2018 18:32

Can't wait. I'm currently binge watching the old ones on netflix Grin

MustBeThursday · 17/01/2018 18:38

Call The Midwife is one of the few tv series I follow, love it.

AnneEyhtMeyer unless the writer means the storylines in the later series - I think they'd used almost all of Jennifer Worth's stories by the first Xmas special ( possibly the second) and it's now credited as inspired by or something similar not based on as the stories are now based on other social history sources?

NamedyChangedy · 18/01/2018 08:12

Ooh didn't know it was coming back, how very exciting. I adore this show, for some reason!

IrenetheQuaint · 18/01/2018 08:18

Yes I love the social history too. Though I've developed a nervous twitch in response to the patronising Vanessa Redgrave voiceover Grin
