Slightly copying the old thread's title...

Come on Corrie writers! Get a grip! This is the thread to moan about the utter tosh that we end up watching, or in some cases to praise the actors because some of them are actually pretty good! Let's discuss!

No. He led but Billy didn’t know he knows. He thinks peter kept it quiet

olliegarchy99 · 27/01/2018 08:22

minor niggle - why has Leanne started doing that stupid 'giggle' (like Eva's ) - so irritating and unnecessary.

SnowannaRainbow · 27/01/2018 10:40

Ate it up like a trifle? What the fuck are the writers on?!

I'm just watching on catch up and Sally is complaining about a stray flip flop in her garden with "who wears flip flops in December" so clearly the writers can't remember which month they are actually writing an episode for Grin.

Spam88 · 27/01/2018 10:44

snow I had a similar thought regarding Tyrone holding the interview in the beer garden. Bit cold surely..?

CeriBerry · 27/01/2018 11:20

Snow She said the flip flop was on New Year’s Day morning. So it would have been December then.

I enjoyed last night’s. I thought Audrey was particularly funny and it felt a bit more like Corrie of old

SnowannaRainbow · 27/01/2018 11:30

Ah, I was only half listening, Corrie'ing and MNing at the same time.

eddiemairswife · 27/01/2018 11:57

Gary gets everywhere poking his nose in. He'd be better off finding himself a job and spending a bit of time with his son.

deadringer · 27/01/2018 14:19

I enjoyed Fridays episodes, Audrey and Gail really are great when they are given screen time together.

scrabbler3 · 27/01/2018 14:28

Loved the scene in the sleazy club. Audrey was v funny. Lulu's look of incredulity! Always good to have a mention of Claudia, too. That scene was proper Corrie.

I really like the actress who plays Toyah. She's very nuanced and subtle. I'm liking her closeness to Eva, they're unalike but clearly fond of each other. I know a few RL friendships like that.

yawning801 · 27/01/2018 16:46

Apparently Kate Oates is fighting for her job now after a backlash about the dark storylines! No surprise there!

OP posts:
lizzieoak · 27/01/2018 17:28

Personally I feel Kate Oates has done so much damage to the show I wouldn’t be able to forgive that and trust that going forward it wouldn’t go all dark again. She’s made a name, she can go off and produce episodes of Hinterland type things. Bring in someone w a sense of humour and who appreciates character driven soaps with more realistic storylines. Corrie being noir leaves a gap in the market for a short program that balances humour and small-scale drama (and no, I didn’t like the Richard Hillman storyline either).

CatherineCawood · 27/01/2018 17:32

I couldn't quite believe that Audrey left a £50 tip in the lap dancing club! Gail said we spent £100 and Audrey said it was £150 after I left a tip!!

I just can't wait for Phelan to get caught. I'm actually enjoying it and looking forward to the episodes as I don't know what's going to happen. I hate spoliers.

Plumes · 27/01/2018 17:33

The scene where Phelan shot dead Andy and that other bloke still seems weird to me. So unnecessarily dark for cosy Corrie.

scrabbler3 · 27/01/2018 17:48

Viewers are threatening to switch off once Phelan has been revealed as a murderer - they're just awaiting his comeuppance. Who knows whether they actually will stop watching. However, it's not a risk the powers-that-be should take. They need to make changes asap and reassure viewers that things will get better.

SheepySheepy · 27/01/2018 18:09

What did Kate Oates do before? Anyone got any general info on her?

AnneEyhtMeyer · 27/01/2018 18:40

Wasn't she from Emmerdale? I stopped watching that when they killed off Archie.

LoveMySituation · 27/01/2018 20:20

Kate Oates I think oversaw the Aaron sexual abuse storyline. And brought Robert back

SymphonyofShadows · 27/01/2018 20:43

I didn't see the dark Emmerdale stuff but she seems to be repeating it all at Corrie.

I didn't watch during the 'Killer Katie' time, was that as bad as this?

That’s ok i don’t read magazines or the type of newspapers that devote pages to soap story lines. So lots of us are none the wiser.

ChevalierTialys · 28/01/2018 01:17

Just read a spoiler about the upcoming storyline and I am out. OUT. It's not what I want from my evenings "light" entertainment. I cannot deal with that subject matter AT ALL so I'm done. It's just too triggering. Sad

deadringer · 28/01/2018 01:25

CORRIE - the soap with more holes than swiss cheese! *SPOILER-FREE ZONE*
yawning801 · 28/01/2018 15:18

I'm done too. I watched ten minutes of Friday's Corrie and then took myself and my laptop upstairs. I even said to DM "I'm not dealing with this shite any more. They've had their chance and they've blown it.". So I'll probably have it on as background noise more than anything.

I wish Kate Oates could see this...

OP posts:
blackbunny · 28/01/2018 16:52

I'm sure lots of people on the Corrie production team study social media closely, including mumsnet. It's whether they take note of what's being said, isn't it?

luckylavender · 28/01/2018 17:47

There's something really bugging me about Corrie. What about Anna's flat & all her stuff? Who is paying the bills & why doesn't Gary live there with Faye?
