Anyone watching?

OP posts:
DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 27/01/2018 00:40

I loved when he spotted Claire and warned her not to mention the pope! Grin

Eve · 27/01/2018 10:35

There was also the

‘I’m going to lose the rest of my virginity ‘

TheweewitchRoz · 27/01/2018 11:55

I loved that too Eve - it really is a brilliant show! It really resonates with me as it's exactly my age & era, despite not being Catholic or growing up in Derry (from Belfast). I love it! It's fab!

PootlesLovelyHat · 28/01/2018 00:25

I loved it too, also not from NI but I was at school in the early 90s so I'm liking the random 90s music I'd forgotten about. My work colleague is originally from Derry and she wondered how it would translate to an English audience but we both equally loved it.

It's been a while since there's been a decent comedy on that gets you properly laughing. The IT Crowd was my favourite and this is on a par for proper laughs.

Loonoonow · 28/01/2018 16:28

I loved the bit when Saturday night came in and they all started moving in perfect unison. That must have taken ages to rehearse.

iheartmichellemallon · 28/01/2018 16:39

Loved that too Loon.

LouWal · 29/01/2018 00:26

The girls are all from somewhere on the Island of Ireland.... be it North or South. As are most of the cast.

Youcanstayundermyumbrella · 29/01/2018 11:01

We absolutely love it. English, so the accent isn't an issue for us, although we have friends from Derry and it passes to our ears (I suspect they are posh Derry though). But it's so well written. The chip shop episode is my favourite so far I think.

Saturday Night took very little rehearsal though, I bet. That's exactly what happened every time it was played - whole rooms full of people doing that ludicrous dance in unison. Most of us didn't have any formal dance training. Grin

jennymount · 29/01/2018 11:08

What about:

"These IRA boyos came in and tied me to the radiator..."
(Orla, eating chips): "Claaass"

Loved that bit. I'm from NI and my school was exactly like that, down to the annoying prefect in the barbershop group (Jenny Joyce) being a favourite because of her rich parents.

Youcanstayundermyumbrella · 29/01/2018 11:32

The dull uncle was very similar indeed to my FiL. Even physically. DH was cringing.

MissCalamity · 29/01/2018 22:15

I'm not Irish but was 15 back in 1994 so loving the sound track & general teenage angst!
Really enjoyed the last episode with Clive Grin
I remember dashing to the dance floor for "Saturday night" it wouldn't have taken long to get that rehearsed. I was at an event with about 100 other girls there & we were all in time with each other. What a fab night that was!! GrinWink

MrsJayy · 30/01/2018 16:21

Think Clive has had to many disco biscuits on his holidays Grin

This has to be the funniest episode so far

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 30/01/2018 20:51

BTW Grandad is Ser Barrister from Game of Thrones.

I love Erin. Was a bit freaked out by her rubbery mouth at first, but now find it quite hypnotising.

iheartmichellemallon · 30/01/2018 21:01

Me too Jesus Grin

HolyAngelus · 31/01/2018 00:10

‘I like melting things’ now gets said an lot in a demented Orla voice around our house...

jennymount · 01/02/2018 14:41

Us too, Holy!

Beetlejizz · 03/02/2018 22:22

That last episode was hilarious.

MrsJayy · 03/02/2018 22:30

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 03/02/2018 23:59

I think last night was the most I have laughed yet. Very funny. Granda with Gerry really cracks me up.

Groovee · 04/02/2018 07:02

The Grandad was in my Ds's work on Friday night...

He asked her if she watched it... she replied "yes I do, my favourite part was when the dog peed on the Virgin Mary!"

He replied "Jesus there are people watching it!" 😂

Groovee · 04/02/2018 07:02

Dd's work!

She said he was lovely and not up himself at all x

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 04/02/2018 13:45

Grin brilliant!

ReggaetonLente · 04/02/2018 13:47

My ex and his family were from Derry. Watching this almost makes me want to get back in touch.... almost!!

Hardwickwhite · 04/02/2018 13:48

I think it is the best thing on TV for year. I don't remember the last time I laughed till my ribs hurt. It is perfect.

Floralnomad · 04/02/2018 13:49

Dd and I are thoroughly enjoying this series , they should do a spin off with the Nun headmistress as the main character .
