Anyone watched it? Well acted and gripping, James Norton good as usual. Also nice change to see so many new faces. But I'm not sure about watching seven more episodes........

Last one, in this series, next week?
There is a lot to wrap up, in just one programme. Hope it isn't rushed.

werewolfhowls · 05/02/2018 21:45

I think ludmilla has a part to play yet, and that dmitri, the dad? Will die protecting alex.

octonaught · 05/02/2018 21:58

Yes Ilya, I called him yusul no idea where that came from....
Grey Bob Hair Man

Laquila · 05/02/2018 22:08

I definitely think Ilya is going to turn out to have double crossed Vadim. I also agree that Dmitri will probably end up dead (although it’s sort of a miracle he isn’t already). I don’t really care what happens to Rebecca as she’s SO ANNOYING. I do hope Ludmila rides off into the sunset with Josef although I have my doubts, I’ll be honest!

Fluffychickenmonkey · 05/02/2018 22:14

I love this more and more. The Russian actors are awesome

Taffeta · 05/02/2018 22:24

I think Kleimann will have Ludmilla killed. It’s not sitting right that he’s just let Josef go.

blueskypink · 05/02/2018 22:42

I think James Norton acts really well in this. He's showing lots of inner turmoil and emotion now.

AlbertaSimmons · 06/02/2018 07:48

I think the hot bodyguard is Kliemann’s mole. The thing with Lludmila is to make Alex think the bodyguard will be loyal to him. I think he’s reporting back to Kliemann as to where Alex goes, who he sees, what they talk about.

AuntFidgetWonkhamStrongNajork · 06/02/2018 09:38

I think James Norton acts really well in this. He's showing lots of inner turmoil and emotion now Really? This week he looked very much like he was following the Joey Tribbiani "I smell a fart" school of acting Grin

"Oh no Vadim has caused my fiancee to miscarry - and I'm sure someone's let one go in here somewhere"

BagelGoesWalking · 06/02/2018 10:25

"Vadim's daughter's hair was too bouncy and shiny. It was obvious giveaway she was going to die."

😂😂😂

MissEliza · 06/02/2018 10:27

It's got to be Ilya responsible for the shooting of Natasha. He's the only one who would know where she'd be.
People are being really hard on JN and the lack of emotion. Isn't this down to his character? Alex is a cool stoic character. I would have expected him to react like that when Rebecca told him about the baby.

Laquila · 06/02/2018 12:49

Ooh Alberta I’ll be cross if that’s the case! He’s the only character I like.

It’s not au much that I think JN is a bad actor, I just find his character dull and unsympathetic. And together with his dull girlfriend, well...

I think the sister is weirdly underdeveloped too. But totally agree about Natasha’s hair!!

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 06/02/2018 12:58

I like the theory that Ilya was trying to have Vadim assassinated (I don't think he'd want to hurt Natasha, who he genuinely seemed to care about, and her death can only lead to a massive escalation of violence which is the opposite of what he wants. I think he figured out Vadim wanted JN killed and just thought he'd had enough of Vadim's way of doing things?)

I think the most likely suspects are 1) Dmitri 2) Kleiman (because I think he deserves a twist/big moment in the finale) and 3) Ilya.

MissEliza · 06/02/2018 14:09

I get why Alex is like that though. He's come to London as a young boy and found people look down their noses at Russians, well rich gangsters anyway. He's been bullied at boarding school and had to suppress his identity to be accepted. Even going to a boarding school in this country will screw you up. A bf of mine at uni was an ex boarding school pupil and he was so emotionless (I cringe now at that relationship). I don't get why they made the Rebecca character so weak though.

BringMeTea · 06/02/2018 15:10

I think this has definitely got better as it goes. LOVE James Norton and agree anyone who has seen Happy Valley will be in no doubt at all about his acting ability.
My money is on Kleiman for Natasha. I must say Rebecca has not annoyed me. I think she is quite a realistic representation of a ‘type’ though would probably be more outwardly distressed after being shot in her own home by a hitwoman. I also think she is plenty attractive enough for Alex.

SoupDragon · 06/02/2018 15:17

It's got to be Ilya responsible for the shooting of Natasha. He's the only one who would know where she'd be.

I think lots of people knew where she would be - it was a party in her honour.

ImListening · 06/02/2018 23:05

I'm really looking forward to seeing how this pans out. I think it's Dmitri who ordered the hit as he kept saying it was his job to protect his family.

I love love Oksana- think she's the best thing in it! What a character.

octonaught · 07/02/2018 10:51

I just wonder what the Mexican Connection is? Ludmila has been given a Mexican passport & the Mexican characters have been introduced in the 7 th episode...

MissEliza · 07/02/2018 11:06

The Mexican connection is Antonio. The men Alex met in the Dorchester I assume were his bosses and he obtained the passport.
Incidentally, does anyone have a clue where Alex and his dad met the Russian embassy official? It looks lovely.

ReelingLush18 · 07/02/2018 11:57

MissEliza suspect it's one of the big London hotels (a bar within)?

EllaHen · 07/02/2018 15:06

Late to the party this week as I only watched last night.

Dh and I were agog at Rebecca's assertion that because he was a poor child he has no class. I knew I was right to hate her.

Davros · 07/02/2018 18:27

The Langham

squiz81 · 07/02/2018 22:12

Who was Alex transferring 25000 Euros to? Surely he wouldn know anyone in Moscow to organise a hit

When did that happen? I thought at the cashpoint he was withdrawing £250....or was this an earlier scene when he was on his PC? I dont think i paid close enough attention!!

I had assumed Alex's dad had arranged a hit on Vadim, but it was bungled and the daughter hit by mistake. Hence him looking aghast and then ringing Alex in a panic. But im now doubting that, partly because of whats been said on here...but also why would the hitman being trying to start a conversation with the daughter...he would just try to find the dad wouldnt he Confused look forward to seeing how it ends!

ReelingLush18 · 08/02/2018 07:15

I think it's all been made to look deliberately vague (pointing fingers in various directions) to heighten tension for the denouement last episode.

Wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't Kleiman behind the hit - he has revealed himself to be a super snake in the grass. Or possibly even Antonio's Mexican cartel.

I've noticed on IPlayer that it says McMafia Series 1 Episode... so assuming that there is the possibility of a second series. That would lead me to think that things won't all be nicely concluded at the end of this final episode?
