Anyone watched it? Well acted and gripping, James Norton good as usual. Also nice change to see so many new faces. But I'm not sure about watching seven more episodes........

I've enjoyed this from the start. Unassuming Joseph is turning out to be bit of a surprise heartthrob in this. May even steal JN's thunder.

Can you imagine remaking the Bodyguard with him. Swoons....

MissEliza · 29/01/2018 21:46

Why didn't Joseph get in the lift? I never thought of that!

MissEliza · 29/01/2018 21:48

Joseph is lovely but JN in a suit is delicious! I'm not sure I can accept him back in a dog collar for Grantchester.

ImListening · 29/01/2018 22:02

This series is getting better & better.

Loving Joseph. Good to see Alex losing a bit of the self control at the end.

Rebecca is a bit dim.....

MissEliza · 29/01/2018 23:01

Ha! Yes Rebecca is very naive and trusting.

ReelingLush18 · 30/01/2018 06:27

Why didn't Joseph get in the lift? The dramatic tension wouldn't have been the same PLUS presumably the assassins could have stopped it with Joseph within - which wouldn't have done his own security detail duties much good?

Yes, for a should be wily City high-flyer Rebecca seems unduly naive.

And quite ridiculous of Alex to think that just sending her away would be enough to protect her.

Taffeta · 30/01/2018 06:44

Whoa surprised at ages of Russian actors Shock

The last ep was suspenseful and claustrophobic

What’s bugging me is the interior of the beautiful mews house, it’s horrid!!! The bedroom is bland, tiny & depressing and the rest of it not much better. Given all the cash sloshing about, the engagement dress trip to Oscar de la Renta, you’d think the mews house (which seems to be a flat not a house?) would be a little less Ikea-like?

ReelingLush18 · 30/01/2018 07:28

I've not been in any of those (S) W London Mews houses myself but often passed through their cobbled areas when out and about walking around London. I would say that most of them look as if they'd be pokey and rather old fashioned inside, and, location aside, not really worth the money they command. They always give me the impression of being pukka, genteel - but with the potential to be a bit scruffy - London boltholes.

MichaelBendfaster · 30/01/2018 11:49

I'm not sure I can accept him back in a dog collar for Grantchester.

Oh, I happily will! I LOVE Grantchester but I don't know if they're making any more, so frankly, if they do and he turns up in a hessian sack, I won't complain. Grin

Taffeta, I agree, the flat isn't nearly as nice as it ought to be. It looks different every time we see it, too, unless my memory is just failing me.

AuntFidgetWonkhamStrongNajork · 30/01/2018 13:20

There was an article in the Guardian this week Taffeta apparently the inside of the mews house is actually the basement of some random other house. I was looking at the size of the set of the mews house bathroom/bedroom/dressing room suite vs the outside of the mews and thinking "time lord technology" Grin

How many episodes left? I've taken to fast forwarding through JN's long gazes and endless speeches - the subtitles still work. Do you think it was deliberate that he was speaking more Russian this week?

Oblomov18 · 30/01/2018 13:21

Was the pool really in Comoran strike? I don't remember that. Which episode?

The interior of all the flats are vile.

Father is horrible and Masha is unattractive. Actually they are all horrible.
I can't stand Rebecca. I was hoping she would be killed. Save us all having to watch their awful chemistry any longer!
Eastenders on vodka. Grin

Am enjoying the Russian, and trying to work it out pre subtitles.

At least this weeks episode speeded up and was a bit more exciting. At last.

MichaelBendfaster · 30/01/2018 13:23

Was the pool really in Comoran strike?

The supermodel one, I think; the concierge took him down to the basement pool and confessed that he went for a swim sometimes when it was quiet, and must have been in there when the killer (can't remember who it was) got into the building.

TimesNewRoman · 30/01/2018 13:44

Just caught up.
Rebecca's acting is so bad! I am giving Alex the benefit of the doubt, hoping it's just his character and he's going to burst into action any minute.

I was really hoping for another Night Manager but it's pretty disappointing.

ReelingLush18 · 30/01/2018 13:48

Yes I do think it was deliberate that he was speaking more Russian - he's embracing his inner gangster!

Two more episodes to go. I saw a trailer for the next one - he seems to have a semi-cordial meet-up with Vadim????

JN always struck me as being in a metaphorical hair cloth shirt hessian sack in Grantchester - loved it though and sad if it doesn't continue.

Oblomov18 · 30/01/2018 14:10

Yes indeed, thank you Michael.

Taffeta · 30/01/2018 15:19

With the wealth and location budget, it could’ve been a feast for the eyes, like The Night Manager.

I wanted to stay in all the hotels, houses, apartments and visit all the restaurants and locations as they looked so enticing and beautiful in The Night Manager.

The only place that’s looked remotely attractive in this is Antonio’s place in the South of France.

EssentialHummus · 01/02/2018 21:50

I've been googling the actors.

Oksana (actress) is from a "well-known artistic family", Russian DH says.

This will sound twattish, there's no way around it, but I need to vent... the English actors would all do better to stick to English. I speak Hebrew and some Russian and both languages/accents are being mauled.

lookingforthecorkscrew · 04/02/2018 22:03

Arrrggghh! So dramatic!!!

That ending was shocking, but the first half dragged terribly, endless meetings between pairs of men muttering in two languages.

I don’t understand! Why did Vadim abort the kill? Who killed the daughter? It’s all so tense!

Flomper · 04/02/2018 22:38

Yet again I'm forced to take Vadims side

HalleLouja · 04/02/2018 22:45

Dimitri’s contact killed the daughter by mistake. Vadim is almost much more likeable than Alex. He is a gangster but not trying to appear legit. Alex’s face when he found out about the baby.

Lentilbaby · 04/02/2018 22:54

Vadim stopped the hit on Alex because he realised, at his daughter’s party, that he did not want to risk his or his daughter’s life. His intelligence friend says to him something like ‘see, life is not so bad’, prompting him to send the text.

SoupDragon · 04/02/2018 23:03

Who was Antonio’s partner that Alex met in London? When he was at Antonio’s villa he turned round at the table and I thought he’d been in the episode earlier but I couldn’t remember where.
