So- dress in your best pleather, cos leatherette is for losers Grin

I know it's only Friday- but I couldn't wait this week.

The theme was tenuous- check out the song choices-

Girls

Grace Davies: 'Hesitate' (original song)
Holly Tandy: Ariana Grande and The Weeknd - 'Love Me Harder'
Rai-Elle: Jean Knight - 'Mr Big Stuff'

Boys

Lloyd Macey: Shania Twain ft Bryan White - 'From This Moment On'
Sam Black: Little Mix ft Charlie Puth - 'Oops'

Overs

Kevin Davy White: Whitney Houston - 'I Will Always Love You'
Matt Linnen: Alicia Keys - 'Fallin'

Groups

The Cutkelvins - 'Saved Me from Myself' (original track)
Sean & Conor Price: Julia Michaels - 'Issues'
Rak-Su - 'Mona Lisa' (original track)

So, it looks like there are THREE original songs. Which they can make fit any themeGrin

And not Beyonce, despite the title. (But we do get Whitney- maybe this is to sabotage Kevin?)

So...plenty of time to digest this information.Grin

Wine We might need it.

Thanks raahh. I don’t know many of these songs. The original ones will be boring I bet. Still, we soldier on.

Raahh · 17/11/2017 18:16

I know most of them- but 'Mr Big Stuff' is an odd one for Rai-Elle. It's recognisable(when you hear it) as versions of it have been used on ads and things. But it's a strange choice for a 16 year old- who is quite modern, unlike 45-year-old teenager Holly.

I loathe Shania Twain, so that won't endear me to Lloyd at all.
And I think the 'over familiarity' factor might mean people will not like Kevin doing Whitney.

Sean and Conor doing 'Issues' will be interesting. Not sure how they will shoe-horn a rap into it.

I recognize some of the songs, I have got my supplies for tomorrow, a bottle of Malbec, kettle sea salt and balsamic vinegar crisps and the new green and blacks velvet edition sea salt chocolate Grin

I look forward to tomorrow with you all. Smile

Raahh · 17/11/2017 18:30

Be interesting to see which 4 leave.

I think the Mumble Sons, Sam , possibly Matt (but his song is quite well known), and Rat Soup should go.

But I think the Cutkelvins are on shaky ground, and haven't been that good (however good looking they are). And I'd like Lloyd to go, because I don't really think this is the right show for him. I've not idea what they would do with him if he won.

Maybe it would be easier to list who I'd like to stay.
But that would be a short list that would comprise of Rai-Elle (because she seems like a nice kid) and probably Kevin. Grin

They should bring back Jake and Joel!

I recognise 2 songs! I feel like a trendy teen here.

It's so nice to hear that J&J are nice. They do seem like the type that your nan would approve of if you were to bring one of them home for dinner.

Raahh · 18/11/2017 14:34

I am watching some tennis this afternoon, getting myself sorted for tonight's song-fest.

I am not sure (again) about the split, especially as the categories are now a bit unbalanced, numbers wise.

Hellooo! I have to miss it tonight as I'm going to a party, booo.

However, the writer I mentioned (who co-wrote one of Grace's songs) might be there as they are the host's cousin, so that could be interesting.

My new best friends Jack & Joel told me they have plenty of gigs lined up, which is nice. I suggested they'd be good TV presenters if the singing doesn't work out Grin

Raahh · 18/11/2017 14:41

Grin your new best friends deserve to go far, with or without the X Factor. I still think that Simon was intimidated by their obvious intelligence, and the fact they were not easy to manipulate kids (like the Mumble Sons).

Enjoy your party, Noisy - hope you get some goss on Grace's 'fake' original song claims Grin.

A town near me is going to have some absolute X-factor mega star at the Christmas lights switch on. Shame I will be bathing my dog that night.

X FACTOR- This week's theme is 'Crazy in Love'- (Sat 8.10/Sun7.30) and there WILL be a double elimination!
Raahh · 18/11/2017 18:12

Dillite that's impressive.

Yes Lad were a boyband last year on X Factor- who I barely remember Grin- they seem to be joining the lineup of 'stars' coming to turn on the lights on Friday. Our 'town' centre is very small. It's not like it's the main Manchester switch on or anything. Yet it seems to have about a dozen acts coming.

The tree has been up for weeks (covered in what looks like sheets of paper) and is really not very big Grin.

OP posts:
dillite · 18/11/2017 18:59

Raahh I don't remember Yes Lad. To be honest, other than 1D and JLS, I don't remember any of the boybands that have been on through the years. Our town is also small. Technically it isn't even a town just a part of a bigger town, I mean, that high street has like 30 shops on with half being bookies.

JaneJeffer · 18/11/2017 19:07

I remember Yes Lad, I liked them - great name for a boy band Grin

I only know a few of those songs. Is it a double elimination? What will happen when the numbers go down, will everyone sing on the Saturday night?

Raahh · 18/11/2017 19:31

dillite yes, our's is the same. Mainly £1 shops, charity shops, pawn shops and an AsdaGrin

OP posts:
Raahh · 18/11/2017 19:35

Jane I still can't find anything to say who is singing tonight. There is one rumour that the elimination will be one from each category, otherwise, it could be that the bottom two could both be from the same category. So- you might get a situation where, both boys could go as they might be in the bottom two.
I think it's 'fixing' it though, dictating that one from each category leave. If a whole category are deemed to be shit by the public vote, then surely that's the chance they take?

If any of that garbled train of thought makes sense? Grin

dillite · 18/11/2017 20:01

nancy you so posh with your M&S walnut whips! All I have is a bruised pair and some horrible peppermint tea.

raahh your thoughts make perfect sense to me. I actually think that they should be mixing them up anyway, instead of having a stronger group compete with a weaker one. Or just have them all perform on a Saturday like in the good old days.

Raahh · 18/11/2017 20:03

dillite phew Grin

I do think not mixing them is a way of skewing the vote, indirectly. But they have conned the 'Great British Public' into thinking they are in charge.

All set for this night, am bloody knackered as went to Bicester Village today to try and find a dress for an Xmas ball I'm going to in Dec. It's awful, full of tourists and shops selling overpriced designer tat. Saw a beautiful furry coat but it was £13k!Shock

Raahh · 18/11/2017 20:15

£13K for a coat? [shock}

I'm still reeling from the fact Serena Williams' wedding dress was £2.6 million dollars. MILLION.

And it was such a tasteful event

Anyway.. here we go!
