So- dress in your best pleather, cos leatherette is for losers Grin

I know it's only Friday- but I couldn't wait this week.

The theme was tenuous- check out the song choices-

Girls

Grace Davies: 'Hesitate' (original song)
Holly Tandy: Ariana Grande and The Weeknd - 'Love Me Harder'
Rai-Elle: Jean Knight - 'Mr Big Stuff'

Boys

Lloyd Macey: Shania Twain ft Bryan White - 'From This Moment On'
Sam Black: Little Mix ft Charlie Puth - 'Oops'

Overs

Kevin Davy White: Whitney Houston - 'I Will Always Love You'
Matt Linnen: Alicia Keys - 'Fallin'

Groups

The Cutkelvins - 'Saved Me from Myself' (original track)
Sean & Conor Price: Julia Michaels - 'Issues'
Rak-Su - 'Mona Lisa' (original track)

So, it looks like there are THREE original songs. Which they can make fit any themeGrin

And not Beyonce, despite the title. (But we do get Whitney- maybe this is to sabotage Kevin?)

So...plenty of time to digest this information.Grin

Wine We might need it.

See you next week :)

JaneJeffer · 19/11/2017 21:41

I left to watch the tennis and missed Fergie but tuned in in time for the vote off. I think it was very unfair on the girls. I don't like this splitting them up thing at all.

Do be careful if you venture into the baby names threads ladies, there's some very highly strung folk on there Grin

Raahh hope you're feeling better Flowers

TheweewitchRoz · 19/11/2017 22:52

Apologies if I’ve missed the discussion on this but why are the live shows over 6 weeks rather than 10?

It’s too short to get to really see them & harsh with 4 people going each weekend. Also very annoying that it’s 2 from each night rather than all being up against each other & the bottom 4 going home!

sweetbitter · 20/11/2017 00:21

Agree hidley, Raelle was not given good song choices. I'd have liked to see her do something to really showcase that big gospel voice she had at auditions, and it never really happened.

I'm a little sad they both went out while boring Matt stayed in. But obviously this whole shebang is going to be won by one of Grace, Lloyd, Kevin or Rat Soup so it's hard to really get worked up about in which order people who aren't them get voted off.

I think the X factor would do itself a favour if it did way more stripped back performances, half the time all the backing dancers and effects and production lighting only serves to show how amateur the singer at the heart of it looks.

hiddley · 20/11/2017 03:16

I really hope Rai Elle gets signed by someone as she has serious talent. She is so unique and very confident. What the fuck song choices or who made them though destroyed her chances. She could easily have won this whole thing as she is so talented. She is unique but her song choices were not modern at all. She made the best of them, but they were just mediocre songs that she had to try to make the best of.
If not, if she comes back next year, and chooses more popular songs, she stands every chance of winning. There is no-one there this year who has her talent I think. And I'm 40.
I love her little attitude.

hiddley · 20/11/2017 03:18

The other fella I really missed is the fella who was kicked off for drug possession or something? Anthony Russell. I could listen to him all day.
Talent is in the ear of the listeners I guess. Not all of us love the same music.

hiddley · 20/11/2017 03:19

Oh and as a slight aside, I want to marry Stormzy. Just putting it out there in case he's ever stuck for a date or anything. Grin

hiddley · 20/11/2017 03:28

I could see Anthony Russell heading up a rock band actually. Not a boy band. Lead singer in a rock band.

JaneJeffer · 20/11/2017 09:34

hiddley have you been awake all night pondering the X Factor?Grin

Stormzy's girlfriend was on The Weakest Link for Children in Need the other night and to put it politely she is sorely lacking in general knowledge! Very good looking though, whoever she is.

I agree about Rai-Elle. Hopefully Stormzy will give her a hand up.

hiddley · 20/11/2017 13:33

Lol, I was in hospital till all hours Saturday night so slept until 5pm yesterday, so yes, I was awake till all hours pondering xfactor. Disgusted to hear Stormzy has a girlfriend. My general knowledge is sorely lacking and I'm not even goodlooking so I'll have to set my sights elsewhere.

Raahh · 20/11/2017 16:59

I have still not actually watched- not feeling 100%, and crashed about 5 minutes after posting last night Grin.

But I did think Rai-Elle's song would be risky. They didn't seem to know what to do with her. I think she will do ok without the show- between this and the Cbbc thing she was, she has been seen by quite a few people. I think she will go on to have a decent career.

I'm not really surprised Holly went . I think the audience are finding her a bit difficult to warm to- this middle aged teenager- and now the field is smaller, no-one voted for her.

I saw Stormzy's girlfriend (Maia?) too. It wasn't a vintage Weakest Link Grin,

I have to go and watch Dd in a concert at school. I've said before, singing is not her thing. Apparently, she is in good company in her classGrin. It's not really going to help my head, is it?

OP posts:
Dillite2 · 20/11/2017 19:45

raahh I wouldn't risk another migrane watching the show. I'm sure your dd's singing will be more than enough in that regard.

Raahh · 21/11/2017 13:07

Just catching up now I'm feeling more huma.

Rai-Elle was robbed- I think he song let her down, because people won't know it.
Kevin was not as good as he has been- 'Smooth' was so good, and now he seems to be doing JL versions of already slow stuff.
Matt- growly. But I can't warm to him really.
Holly has better voice than some left in the competition. But I think the public are probably finding her hard to relate to. And didn't know the song very well- though with all the 'original' stuff, that shouldn't matter.

OP posts:
Raahh · 21/11/2017 13:09

So - Grace- sounds just like everything she has 'written', and she is still singing in that strangled way, or down her nose.

But they obviously want her to win.

OP posts:
Raahh · 21/11/2017 13:15

I think Holly might disappear.
But Rai-Elle should do o.k

I wonder what Simon really thought of the result?

It's going to be quite a dull final at this rate .
I would have loved them to bring back Stormzy to duet with Rai-Elle.

Can't quite see it working with Lloyd.Grin

OP posts:
hiddley · 21/11/2017 13:45

I too would have loved to see Stormzy and Rai-Elle. Seem to have similar genres. Plus they'd be so cute. He's like a great big brother to her. Pity really. I wonder who the fuck chose her songs? Agreed it's going to be really boring from now on.

Raahh · 21/11/2017 13:52

Hiddley I do think she will still be ok. I hope, behind the scenes , Simon/Syco have already signed her up.(though she might do better without them) But it's a shame they have tried to make her 'older' instead of sticking to things that would appeal to people around her age. Her and Stormzy would have been brilliant.

OP posts:
hiddley · 21/11/2017 14:12

I think it's in their contracts when they enter X factor that they can't enter any other contract for a year or something unless with Syco (may be wrong on that).
Her and Stormzy would be a perfect blend really. He has such a low voice, but her voice would be in the same key but just on a different level?

Plus he's so huge (surely 6' 4 at least) and she's so tiny and she has such attitude and condidence whereas Stormzy comes across as quite serious and modest and shy almost.

hiddley · 21/11/2017 14:15

*confidence

Raahh · 21/11/2017 14:19

Yes, I think they are tied in to Syco for a while. I'm still not sure who has made it onto the tour . It's all so quick this year, it's hard to keep up with what's going on. They used to make a big deal about the 'cut off' for the tour. Unless it's so cheap this year, they aren't bothering Grin

OP posts:
Raahh · 21/11/2017 14:20

Crap, not cheap. Though cheap works just as well!

OP posts:
Dillite2 · 21/11/2017 15:42

When they advertised the tour it looked like all of the acts that made it into the finals made it into the tour. Now that would be one crap tour. Who even goes to those?

Raahh · 21/11/2017 16:00

Makes you wonder, doesn't? dillite. I wonder if a lot of the attendees win tickets through radio stations. Or are just extended family and friends of the acts. Who are forced to go to every night. Like some sort of circle of hell .

OP posts:
The80sweregreat · 21/11/2017 17:04

A friend of a friend went to the tour a few years ago - they said it wasnt that bad. Their daughter was about 13 at the time so maybe your ears havent fully developed by then or something? i know that i watch things now from the 80s or 70s and think ' my god, that was bad' when i thought it was okay at the time? who knows , i wouldnt fancy going.

Raahh · 21/11/2017 18:17

I suppose , at a push, as a 'first gig ' I can imagine people taking their kids. But at the same time, I can't imagine falf the acts appealing to many kids.

And the tickets are usually not cheap. For any gig these days.
Dd2 is 7- 2 of her friends as off to see little mix tonight ( I'm not sure if it's the gig Lloyd is meant to be supporting). I dread to think how much the tickets were. and how shattered they will be tomorrow.
