Can be for any reason

For me
University Challenge
Breaking Bad

OP posts:
RustyPaperclips · 05/11/2017 00:18

Breaking Bad without a doubt. I thought I was the only one to not get it but feel very reassured

clary · 05/11/2017 00:29

I like BBT and Friends, and Frasier is brilliant, watched it this morning and literally laughed out loud.

What I cannot stand is Miranda, everyone says ooh it's so good, but she's just an annoying woman who (wrongly imp) thinks she's funny.

oh and Mrs Brown's Boys. Tasteless crap.

Raisedbyguineapigs · 05/11/2017 00:32

Mrs Browns Boys here too. And My Family mystified me. They managed to get quality actors and turn them into planks of wood. Quite a feat!

FavouriteParksAreCarParks · 05/11/2017 01:18

Sorry Michael Palin because I do love you but for me it’s Monty Python. Also Dad’s Army, X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent.

I liked Breaking Bad - and Walking Dead is my favourite programme bar none!

Never seen Game of Thrones.

TheQueenOfWands · 05/11/2017 01:21

Sex And The City.

Spoiled, entitled brat with too much money and free time moaning about men being shits and people not bowing to her every daft whim.

Treat people how you want to be treated, yah?

furlinedsheepskinjacket · 05/11/2017 02:35

mrs browns boys was the most watched tv show over xmas last year

work that one out :)

TheQueenOfWands · 05/11/2017 02:43

People get wildly pissed at Christmas and watch anything.

Once The Snowman and the Christmas episode of Bottom is over most Christmas telly is trash.

If you watch it wearing a paper hat and a ridiculous jumper it doesn't count.

furlinedsheepskinjacket · 05/11/2017 02:50

lol but that'd why it keeps getting recommissioned arghhhh

Wh0KnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 05/11/2017 08:02

Mrs Browns Boys
Friends
Cold Feet
Big Bang Theory
X Factor/Voice/BGT
Only Fools and Horses

TroysMammy · 05/11/2017 08:05

I'm a celebrity
X factor
Bake off
Britain's got talent
Strictly
Dancing on ice
Anything else with knock out rounds voted by the public.

Middleoftheroad · 05/11/2017 08:12

My Family
Outnumbered
Miranda
The One Show
Bake Off
Strictly
The Voice

Oh and Factor X as League of Gentlemen called it during their genius live show!

Paddington68 · 05/11/2017 08:36

Friends
Top Gear
X-factor - after the auditions
Only Fools and Horses
Last of the Summer Wine
Rosemary and Thyme - great actors, but rubbish plots/script
Anything American after it's first season, Lost, Heroes, Mad Men, Grey's Anatomy, Sex in the City (Carrie is a cow), - even the West Wing got dull in the end
QI - just put the News Quiz on telly.
Celebrity Panel Shows in general with the exception of 8 out of 10 cats does Countdown.
Death on a Caribbean Island thing.
The One Show - are the on drugs? Suicide to the latest play in the West End musical without a breath!
Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, - never seen

I'll go back to my book.

Sparkletastic · 05/11/2017 08:40

Breaking Bad

ArbitraryName · 05/11/2017 09:16

Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, - never seen

How can you know they’re overrated if you’ve never seen them? It’s one thing for them not to be the sort of thing you like to watch, but you can’t actually know if they’re worth the general hype and critical acclaim unless you’ve actually watched them.

PoppyPopcorn · 05/11/2017 12:30

Another one who hates Mrs Brown's Boys. And Game of Thrones.

I also think there is a problem with series running far too long - Friends was good for a couple of series, then not so much.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 05/11/2017 20:32

Sex and the City

Fawlty Towers

The Walking Dead

Friends (I've only seen bits of it )

KUWTK (not seen it but DD gives me chapter'n'verse Hmm )

MIC

Gogglebox

TOWIE

butterfly56 · 05/11/2017 21:03

Big Brother
Celebrity Big Brother
The Apprentice
Great British Bake off
All reality TV

YouthsAStuffWillNotEndure · 05/11/2017 22:59

Broadchurch - so formulaic but then I dislike detective dramas in general. There's always 2 detectives that are oh-so-different from each other, they might as well be called Detective Chalk and Detective Cheese. I gave it a go because everyone said it was exceptional but it really really wasn't.

sweetbitter · 06/11/2017 00:41

Doctor Who. I have tried but it just seems so naff and unfunny and never hooks me in.

Weird because I love nostalgic British telly and sci-fi generally.

Wh0KnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 06/11/2017 06:54

Oh yes, Dr Who. I have been dipping in and out since the 70s and just don't get it.

goingonabearhunt1 · 06/11/2017 13:13

I don't get Dr Who either.

Also Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother.

Agree with others that Miranda is shite.

And The Office isn't that funny.

maddiemookins16mum · 06/11/2017 17:06

Friends.
Just such banal nonsense.

TheKurgan · 06/11/2017 19:17

House of Cards. The first series was great and it's gone steadily downhill ever since.

PuppyMonkey · 06/11/2017 19:30

OP, I proper Lol'd at your "University Challenge." Grin

I think people on this thread have misunderstood the premise. These are supposed to be programmes that are critically acclaimed, but you just don't like them - Breaking Bad is a perfect example, although those who don't like BB are entirely wrong as it is of course brilliant.

MRs Brown's Boys has no place on this thread, as while it is indeed rubbish it is not critically acclaimed by anyone and therefore is not "overrated."

My suggestions are:

Dr Foster
Gogglebox
The People vs O J Simpson

derxa · 06/11/2017 19:39

Agree with Game of fucking thrones and in fact I came here to post that as soon as I saw the thread title. Like Lord of the rings in that it's full of characters with stupid fucking fantasy identities and ridiculous names doing unlikely yet clunky and boring things, but with gore, tits and fannies. Utter pish. This Grin
