Thanks for the link Rhu, I remember him now from that programme. Always wished they had carried on with that as it was very well done. He is quite young looking so would fit in as a youngish celebrity. Suppose to follow the norm you'd always have to have a slightly older persona in it too. Would Richard Armitage fit that category or perhaps Mr Wilcox from Howard's End (Matthews McFadyen).

Ilovelblue · 25/11/2017 21:33

I liked Richard Rankin in The Syndicate which was a Kay Mellor creation - she's the one who has written Love, Lies and Records which is on Thursday nights at the moment. I'd allow him through to the semi finals but he couldn't possibly take the Glitterball away from BA/CJ.

Hmmm, how would CJ and B differ as dancers. I think CJ would be more stiff upper lip and not willing to "let go".

Yes eejit I agree 100 per cent. I wanted to suggest that but thought I mustn't be always picking the more glamorous ones so toned myself down a bit and thought of Grantchester.

Rhubarb01 · 25/11/2017 21:34

Kazza that sounds like an essay question. "Assess the relative strengths and weaknesses of BA and CJ as potential SCD contestants."

I think CJ would approach it like a consummate professional with a strategic plan of action and nerves of steel. Each manoeuvre (dance step) would be highly rehearsed but his training would equip him to react to the slightest alteration to the battle plan (I mean dance routine).

kazzaD66 · 25/11/2017 21:36

ilove although BA did wiggle his hips a bit when serenading Molly Grin

Ilovelblue · 25/11/2017 21:36

What was Corporal Geddings' real name in the pilot? He was rather nice - Matthew McNulty??

TracyBeaker, thank you, I've found The Last Post on my online recording service. Requested episode 1 to have a look :-).

kazzaD66 · 25/11/2017 21:38

Love it rhu .So are you saying that BA would be a bit more casual in his approach?

Rhubarb01 · 25/11/2017 21:40

Richard Armitage/John Thornton (North and South) or Lucas North (Spooks) definite yes from me.

Go as glamorous as you like Magi

Magi84 · 25/11/2017 21:42

Kazza was that CJ or BA wiggling his hips for Molly? You certainly have posed a good question.

kazzaD66 · 25/11/2017 21:46

Sorry, I meant CJ, obvs!

Rhubarb01 · 25/11/2017 21:47

Yes Kazza obviously I don't know BA at all but could only surmise he would be a bit more of a luvie but in a nice way. Obviously pretty good at all the acting side of things and 'connecting' with his partner because it's an act but fairly self-deprecating too. CJ would be clinical in comparison and probably very tough on himself if things went wrong. I could imagine him staring at himself in the studio mirror and yelling, "What are you going to do if you mess up your lift - just leave your partner sprawling on the floor!!"

Magi84 · 25/11/2017 21:56

The trouble with picking all the guys everybody likes it will be difficult to vote people off. How about someone we're not keen on. I know that will probably cause a problem as someone is bound to have different taste. I'll put one here I can manage without (to put it kindly) and apologise if somebody else absolutely adores him. Bernard Cumberbatch (Sherlock).

Rhubarb01 · 25/11/2017 21:59

So we are looking for some marmite suggestions?

Rhubarb01 · 25/11/2017 22:01

This is when we need woof back with some of her lego men suggestions!

Magi84 · 25/11/2017 22:03

Yes Rhu I remember Woof being less than complimentary about Damien Green.

Rhubarb01 · 25/11/2017 22:03

OK I've got one and pix won't like it at all - I've put on my tin hat - but I can't stand Spanner's beard so I'm going to suggest Spanner BUT not Mark Armstrong who I am sure is absolutely lovely Smile

Rhubarb01 · 25/11/2017 22:04

Did you mean Damian Lewis Magi or 'The Sausage'?

Rhubarb01 · 25/11/2017 22:06

Mind you I'm not a fan of Damian Green either! - Actually, I do like Damian Lewis but he seemed to divide opinion on here.

Magi84 · 25/11/2017 22:09

Think I meant Damien Lewis but if Damien Green is The Sausage you can definitely pop him in the same category. Think I better get some sleep now and perhaps I'll dream up a few others to fill the bill. I leave it in your capable hands and look forward to reading more tomorrow!

Ilovelblue · 25/11/2017 22:23

Agree with you Rhu about Spanner. Am I right in thinking pixie has met the real life actor somewhere? I have a recollection of her having stroked his beard. When he was in the village negotiating for the purchase of that truck and he smiled and said "sweeties" to the kids, I thought he looked very dodgy indeed!

OP posts:
kazzaD66 · 25/11/2017 22:33

I'm sure that Spanner / Mark Armstrong is/are lovely but seriously, you could hide numerous rodents and a small child in that beard and still not notice! I'm not sure if I've imagined it but have there been instagram photos from Malaysia showing the beard severely curtailed? (I know I'm risking the wrath of Ops Tent [can't remember who that is in RL, sorry] saying that) Confused

Ilovelblue · 25/11/2017 23:16

The Ops Tent is run by pixie - there are some hilarious posts on there. She did a watchalong a bit like us a while back and I was laughing out loud - the cat thought I had lost the plot.

OP posts:
Ilovelblue · 25/11/2017 23:20

I saw a photo from somewhere (Twitter? Instagram?) where Spanner was head to head with John Michie who has been in Holby. I must see if I can find it to see if the beard had been tamed. I guess the SF have to blend in more with the locals but regular military personnel wouldn't be allowed to be so hirsute?

Hey Rhu probably outing myself but RA is from my home village.
He comes home every other Christmas & it's really funny in the local pub cos he gets ribbed something rotten & we have bets on how long it takes someone (not from the village) to say you look like that bloke in Spooks.
Random trivia his teacher taught my DD.
