Weren't a few of you discussing a British series a few weeks ago, that was set in Oman (military series, possibly on BBC, possibly a recent/new series)? I've been googling with all keywords I can come up with but came up empty.
Am I imagining things, or was there indeed such a TV series? And what is its title?

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 25/11/2017 14:26

Hi Delphin it was called The Last Post & was a drama about the RMP & their families set in Aden in the 1960s.
On BBC iplayer.
I keep meaning to watch it too.

Rhubarb01 · 25/11/2017 15:35

Afternoon everyone. Been AWOL for a few days but just catching up with things. I enjoyed The Last Post although it had a few annoying plot anomalies - but doesn't everything these days. For those people in the know about Aden in the 1960's and military matters of the time there seemed to be quite a few inaccuracies mentioned in the MN thread on the subject but all in all it was a good watch and better than some of the stuff that's been on. I also liked the fact that it was as much about the three female leads as the male leads. Not sure if there will be another series but it was left open enough for one.

Glitterball Anyone around for a SCD watch tonight? Not Blackpool week but might be good. Glitterball

Hi Rhu. I'll do my best but may dip in and out a bit. Hope that's ok.

If I can wrestle the remote of DH I'll watch it Smile

Did anyone see Shirley Ballas on Graham Norton? She seems lovely.
Apparently Strictly is the first TV she has done.

Rhubarb01 · 25/11/2017 18:51

Hi ilove and Tracy. I know what you mean about wrestling the remote. DH has taken control at the moment but I'm sure he will retreat upstairs shortly as he can't stand SCD.

I didn't see Graham Norton this week. I think she is really quite nice but sometimes her comments on SCD don't come off quite the way she probably means them to. I think she really knows her stuff though as she ought to given her pedigree. It does amuse me that in the intro bit she never makes it to the rest of judges in time for the music to end Grin

Rhubarb01 · 25/11/2017 18:56

I see Claudia is back to black - shimmering black mind you. Not sure about Tess's fuschia caped arrangement. Oh are we excited about the Paso Doblathon?

Golly, she made it this week!

Rhubarb01 · 25/11/2017 18:58

Oh yuk, Aliacz is is a totally red outfit with some frills - it reminds me of an awful men's ice skating outfit from the 1970's.

I reckon Debbie will do a fantastic AT.

Rhubarb01 · 25/11/2017 18:59

Let me re-phrase that "Yuck," and "Is in". Just too excited it seems.

We are back to stupid VT's this week - now we are in a skyscraper we will dance even better???

Rhubarb01 · 25/11/2017 19:02

Joe ad Katya - Quick step. Very nimble. I like twinkly Joe. Surprised that Katya is wearing such flat shoes today. Nice acting. Love the clever CGI or whatever it is on the dancefloor.

Ilovelblue · 25/11/2017 19:05

Watching but eating so will have to join in a bit later ladies

Tess' outfit is ridiculous!

Rhubarb01 · 25/11/2017 19:06

Katya is somewhat ridiculously over excited. That was a great routine but good grief all that squealing.

Rhubarb01 · 25/11/2017 19:08

Alexandra and Gorka the Corker - the Rhumba - this will be a test. I usually hate these dances.

Rhubarb01 · 25/11/2017 19:11

The singing was just dreadful particularly the man. I reckon that was pretty competent.

Rhubarb01 · 25/11/2017 19:17

Is it me or is Aliaz (I don't know how you spell it) is a bit hyper this series?

Rhubarb01 · 25/11/2017 19:19

Did something go wrong at one point when they were walking backwards? Other than that I reckon it looks a pretty good samba even with the rotten red trousers.

Rhubarb01 · 25/11/2017 19:21

I'm really surprised at the comments. I thought it was OK. Watch it Shirley, don't say Gemma didn't look as if she wanted to get out of bed with Aliaz!

Ilovelblue · 25/11/2017 19:24

If I could do something half that good, I'd be well pleased.

The judges really don't like it.

I need to do extra votes for Gemma - we have money on her!!

Rhubarb01 · 25/11/2017 19:27

Yes, you'd better protect your investment ilove.

Mollie and AJ - I do hope it's good. She gets picked on so much.

Rhubarb01 · 25/11/2017 19:29

Can't help thinking of the fabulous quick step AJ did with Claudia last year. It wasn't as good but it looks pretty decent. Maybe not so light on her feet but I reckon it was her best dance so far.

Ilovelblue · 25/11/2017 19:38

I would like to do a dance like that (in that sort of dress) with either LP or BA! If only eh?

That was lovely from Davood.

OP posts:
Rhubarb01 · 25/11/2017 19:39

Would it undignified for me to decide it was an 'excuse me' dance ilove and keep interrupting you?

Loved that from Davood and Nadiya and I've always loved that song too.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 25/11/2017 19:40

Davood is certainly easy on the eye Smile

Ilovelblue · 25/11/2017 19:42

Yes Rhu, it would be extremely ungracious of you!

(But since we are friends, I would let you have the next dance).

Ilovelblue · 25/11/2017 19:44

I don't really care for Debbie personally but we stand to make the most money on her and for somebody only slightly older than me, she is incredibly fit!
