I must say having watched The Last Post I have found it much more ‘soapy’ than OG. Ganted I don’t know much about Aden story and I am no wiser now. Biased again I guess. I may watch again before 9.0 if DH goes out 😀

Hi Elvis! It was a good job I spotted that thread on there when I did. I don't always look at those Discussion of the Day threads. Welcome to the Our Girl thread. We have been going for more than four years now. We started off discussing everything Our Girl from the first series, then it moved more onto the delights of Captain James (Ben Aldridge) but in the second and third series, Elvis Harte arrived and I think it's safe to say, he was a "Marmite" character - you either loved him or you didn't. I am a massive fan. I cried at the end of the final episode - it was his voice in the "letter from the grave" which totally tipped me over the edge and the following day, I felt so out of sorts, it was not pleasant.

Flip through this thread from Tuesday night onwards and you will definitely see you are not on your own with your thoughts!

Thanks blue I feel so stupid as a grown woman to feel this way! It sounds weird but I really hope she dies at the end so they can be reunited and we get to see them finally be married. Although DH told me he had read she falls in love with Elvis' replacement!!!! 😩

Ooh just found this thread today. Glad that other normal adults get in such a state over a programme and characters as I do!!

I was so annoyed by this series though - it was obvious Elvis was going to die from the opening credits. Someone was having elvis' name tattooed and military boys only do that when someone dies in my experience. So that was that ruined from ep1!!

Can't wait to see where they go from here.

Welcome "lala* too - two new joiners in the space of a few minutes!

If you ever watch Gogglebox, which I have to say I don't but do get the general gist of it, our watchalongs are along similar lines. We all watch the episode starting at the same time and just post our general thoughts, some serious and some rather tongue in cheek.

We did a watchalong from the previous series to get us in the mood for the new series, then when that aired, we did our watchalongs on the Sunday after the Tuesday screening. Given how sad the last episode was, we decided not to do a watchalong tonight but will probably do it next Sunday instead. However, we are not sure at what point to stop because the death letter is too emotional to comment on we think.

lala - meant to say that I had no idea about the tattoo etiquette. I didn't take much notice of the initial scenes I guess. Thanks for that.

Have either of you read the amazing fanfiction on the back of the Our Girl series? If not, I can definitely recommend it. There are some fabulous takes on Captain James, Molly (first series), Georgie and Elvis.

Got to say, I am not a fan of Mark Wright and not sure what MK saw in him really. I think the tabloids would like there to be a MK/LP relationship.

Where I was convinced the chemistry between CJ andMD was so strong theycould NOT be only acting and I wanted the same for them

The tattoos were just that to me as well had no idea about the significance of them. You see we are learning new things on here all the time as well as enjoying our chats and ff stories 😬

Haha flower I watched when Georgie and Elvis finally kissed and I kept saying to the tv they are not acting!!

The tattoo in the opening credits did have wings on it - it had no significance to me at the time, but with hindsight, it's obvious.

Anyway, even if MK isn't interested, I would be happy to put myself forward. To take one for the team if you like! We'll try to forget I am old enough to be his mother.

I did watch again tonight skipped the death scene but watched the death letter scene all the way through and this time thought it was beautiful but SO SAD A few more tears I’m afraid but not as bad as Tuesday!

Flower, it's not the words of the letter (which I agree are beautifully put together), it's hearing Elvis' voice from the grave. I just can't do it.

Elvis I will dig out a photo of the new SAS captain. It's on my phone so I'll do it when I get to bed. He's not bad but not a patch on Elvis in my view.
