Jonnie and Oti - did they say it was a salsa? Oh dear Jonnie isn't doing much and he's got his chest out - that's not a good sign. It was all about Oti wasn't it.

Ilovelblue · 04/11/2017 19:57

I think we get £40 if she wins.

Susan and Kevin - its a jive. They look as if they should be presenting something on CBeebies!

Ilovelblue · 04/11/2017 20:04

That's so funny Rhu but you're right.

The jive is one I'd love to do but my shoulders and legs would fail at the first move I think!

OP posts:
Rhubarb01 · 04/11/2017 20:04

I don't think white bovver boots help to make the jive look sharp and precise. It wasn't a bad attempt, I suppose.

Rhubarb01 · 04/11/2017 20:09

Davood and Nadia - she is wearing a really pretty dress. I usually love American Smooths.

Rhubarb01 · 04/11/2017 20:10

Whopee - not only an American Smooth but wait for it a FOXTROT American Smooth.

Rhubarb01 · 04/11/2017 20:12

That was really lovely and such a fantastic 'sit lift'. Hope they get really good marks.

Rhubarb01 · 04/11/2017 20:14

Darcey called that a 'bum lift' - how coarse from a prima ballerina!

Ilovelblue · 04/11/2017 20:18

Ooops, lost focus there a bit, sorry Rhu. It was excellent.

Who do we think will go tomorrow? Ruth seems the most obvious, unless we voting public like the - er - showmanship and comedy of their dance!

...... and so back to OG!

I was out with a friend this afternoon as she wanted some moral support whilst looking for a new car. When she was talking part exchange and all that good stuff, I went and had a coffee and used their wifi. I was looking at the Twitter comments following LP's video of thanks. It really made me laugh at some of the things his fans were saying. If LP ever ends up on Graham Norton, they are the types of comments he is likely to flash up on the screen just to embarrass his guest!

Thanks Rhu and Ilove - honestly who needs Claudia and Tess when we can have you two.

Rhubarb01 · 04/11/2017 20:25

I think Ruth will be alright - it was so funny and the unexpected ending is very memorable.

I think the least entertaining were Aston, Mollie and Gemma. That's not good from your betting perspective ilove but it could be Mollie if last week is anything to judge by.

Ilovelblue · 04/11/2017 20:29

Magi not sure whether I would be Tess or Claudia, but if Claudia, then I can promise you my hair is better than hers (ok, not very modest but hey!)

I'm not as good commenting on Strictly as Rhu. She has more technical expertise than I have I think. We aren't a bad double act on the OG watchalongs though - we are practically in sync these days!

Talking of that, how do you fancy doing the watchalong for the final episode next Sunday Rhu? And Flower too? We should have decompressed more by then.

OP posts:
Magi84 · 04/11/2017 20:35

I'd like to try to do a watch along - not sure if I would be quick enough on the tapping of keys but will give it a try. So as long as nothing in RL changes in next Sunday's timetable.

Rhubarb01 · 04/11/2017 20:38

Yes, I will give next Sunday a go. I'd better watch the episode again though beforehand or I probably will be unable to comment for the last fifteen minutes.

My only knowledge of ballroom dancing comes from watching SCD since the first series and ITT but I suppose you do pick up stuff after a while. I'm also a 'Dancing on Ice' fan and that's back after Christmas after a four year break which I'm pleased about. Although SCD is the best show I have to take my hats off to those who try the ice skating equivalent - that is really difficult!

Ilovelblue · 04/11/2017 20:42

Magi it doesn't have to be earth shattering comments. Mostly, it's drivel from me and in the past, I've watched the new episode probably three times by the time we come to the watchalong but I can't face certain parts of this one.

I think we might need to agree to fast forward over some of it. I can cope with Elvis being blown up and even the aftermath (including The Hug), but not sure I can manage the letter or the tattoos. Shall we decide nearer the time? We may feel differently by then.

When the new series has its dates confirmed, we could probably re-watch this group of episodes as a refresher?

Back to OG...

Well, I was thinking about CJ again and decided that I'd like the next series to start with either an inquest into the events in Afghanistan or maybe CJ in a consultation with a military pyschiatrist. If you consider all the things that have happened to him, he's got a lot to off load. I'd really like to hear his inner thoughts on everything.

I've wondered if the fact that he hasn't been promoted has anything to do with the mess up on tour with Molly (The Bridge - not the kiss!) and let's face it , it wasn't very good in this series either was it. However, I suspect the real reason is he wouldn't spend his time with Two Section if he was a Major. That could be a possible alternative to leaving the army, though, couldn't it? Perhaps they'll promote him out of the series.

Magi84 · 04/11/2017 20:47

Yes probably best to sort it out nearer next Subday just to see how everyone is feeling about by then.

Magi84 · 04/11/2017 20:52

Plenty of food for thought there Rhu. Lots will depend on how things pan out in the next eight episodes and BA did sort of hint about "insight" into things with Molly. Don't think there's any likelihood of LT coming back into OG so presumably only mentions of her, if anything at all.

Ilovelblue · 04/11/2017 20:52

I reckon you've got something there Rhu. The shooting in Afghan in the first series, plus he said he was going to resign his commission and his mental state. We never did get an explanation in series 2 of why he was back again after having said he was going to resign. He either had a change of heart or was persuaded by his superiors but either way, they wouldn't have wanted to give him an automatic promotion out of that, would they?

I understand that as a major, he wouldn't be in the front line quite the same. I think I've got that right. Major Beck certainly wasn't on the front line, was he?

Ilovelblue · 04/11/2017 20:55

Oh - I meant to say, when I was waiting at the car showroom for my friend this afternoon, there was one of those celebrity magazines. I think it went back to July or August and there was a picture of LT on the front. Something about getting ready for the wedding and hoping to start a family very soon. I meant to take a photo of the article actually and then forgot. So if she's intending getting pregnant soon, there's no way she's going to be in EE indefinitely, let alone OG.

"I understand that as a major, he wouldn't be in the front line quite the same. I think I've got that right. Major Beck certainly wasn't on the front line, was he?"

Yes, a major is a staff position, so he would be dealing with tactical planning, oversight, and organisational matters (and HR), rather than lead from the front like the lieutenants and captains.

Ilovelblue · 05/11/2017 17:05

Feels very strange not to be organising Sunday evening to be able to do the watchalong at 9pm. We've been doing it for 8 weeks now - maybe even 9 - as we missed a week somewhere along the line.

OP posts:
Rhubarb01 · 05/11/2017 17:27

Just popping in after moonlighting on another thread! Yes, it will be strange not to do the watchalong ilove but we can at least watch 'The Last Post' live this week. I've joined in a bit on their thread and there are quite a few questions we'd all like answers to so I'm hoping it's going to deliver or is it going to leave us wondering if there's another series. Needless to say there have been quite a few gripes about it being unrealistic in military terms - never heard that before about a drama - and a lot of confusion about Alison's twin pregnancy.
