I don’t understand the Alexandra hate at all. She’s a great dancer and would be a worthy winner. She doesn’t need to cry to get votes, her mum just died ffs.

CalmanOnSpeeddial · 15/10/2017 11:57

And yes she’s been in the second half of the draw three times out of four, like several other contestants, and just as you’d expect if it was randomly drawn.

In fact it’s also influenced by the PTB’s need for water cooler moments near the end of the show, and you can see how it’s worked on social media. Comments at the half way point were mostly “yawn”, “this isn’t much cop”, “everyone’s rubbish this week” but by the end of the show, with backloaded Wow dances, people were concluding that it was a pretty good week.

The80sweregreat · 15/10/2017 12:02

I am sure there will be an ' Alexandra backlash' there always is when someone is a good as she is.
it must be emotional doing this show, the hours they have to put in, learning a new routine every week - then all day on the saturday going through it all ( i imagine) having to get dressed up - it must be endless. Not to mention the extra interviews and those terrible VT things!
i know they are getting a huge fee and publicity, but its one of the tougher reality shows to go on i would have thought. Especially if dancing isnt really your forte.

ImListening · 15/10/2017 12:03

I’m disliking Shirley even more this week. Unbelievably rude to call Charlotte by the wrong name. And no one commented on it.

My favourite is Susan. She’s clearly loving it.

The80sweregreat · 15/10/2017 12:09

Shirley is irritating - bring back Len.. ( although i know not everyone liked him either!!)
Those glasses she wears on and off, on and off. winds me up!

Whatshouldmyusernamebe · 15/10/2017 12:10

Oh yes very savvy to be genuinely upset about your mum dying less than 2 months ago. Hmm

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 15/10/2017 12:11

So much nastiness on this thread, such a shame as they used to be really fun.Hmm

Whatshouldmyusernamebe · 15/10/2017 12:11

It's unbelievable isn't it.

The80sweregreat · 15/10/2017 12:12

I get a bit tearful over my mum and that was 7 years ago!! ( not a terrible cant live without her way, but if i hear a song she liked or some memory it can make you a bit sad sometimes) 2 months is nothing, if you were close and really miss them. She probably would have loved to have seen her doing so well and it hurts.

ppeatfruit · 15/10/2017 12:18

Well to be fair Cave the studio on Strictly is not usually crowded with sweaty clubbers! They've got space to do unusual moves!

IfyouseeRitaMoreno · 15/10/2017 12:18

Jesus. Alexandra’s Mum died just a few months ago, as she was starting Strictly and it had been her mum’s dream for her daughter to be on Strictly.

When my mum dies I’ll be crying every Saturday night just watching Strictly because it is something we do together.

Can’t blame her for being a bit upset eh!

ppeatfruit · 15/10/2017 12:21

Exactly Rita Your user name is my fave dancing film star btw!

DuckOffAutocorrectYouShiv · 15/10/2017 12:23

I’m catching up. I wonder if Shirley is paying any attention all, spwhen giving charlotte feedback she called her molly Hmm Nobody picked her up on it.

Whatshouldmyusernamebe · 15/10/2017 12:24

They didn't pick her up on it but Tess pointedly said Charlotte twice and Claudia did too.

DuckOffAutocorrectYouShiv · 15/10/2017 12:28

Molly was as wooden as fuck and doesn’t appear to be improving (to my eyes) whereas Charlotte with no prior dancing experience or training looked like she’d made progress this week. Consequently, I thought Molly & Charlotte’s dances were on a par quality wise but c got hammered where Molly got shit sandwiches (critisxms wrapped in compliments). Sometimes it looks like blatant favouritism in this show.

Sorry for typos, my iPad is a dickhead.

Horsemad · 15/10/2017 12:30

Shirley has apologised on Twitter.

DuckOffAutocorrectYouShiv · 15/10/2017 12:30

what, it’s ironic when she prides herself as the picky one, pedantic about technical accuracy.

DuckOffAutocorrectYouShiv · 15/10/2017 12:31

Has she, horse, I don’t do Twitter. It’s not her first namefart on the show

ppeatfruit · 15/10/2017 12:33

Duck It's called short term memory loss, it wasn't deliberate.

ellenanora5 · 15/10/2017 12:35

She should have apologised there and then to Charlotte, I hope she stays tonight.

KurriKurri · 15/10/2017 12:39

It would be nice if we could just enjoy Alexandra's dancing in stead of going into her supposed 'Motives' Hmm for crying about her very very recent bereavement. Grief can hit you at the most unexpected and sometimes, it must be pretty awful if it suddenly gets you on live TV when you are trying to hold it together.

I don't know much about her, except that she won X factor and works in musical theatre (so presumably has danced) - but I don;t care - it's an entertainment show, and to me all her dances have been amazing - I love to watch her (and I'd go and see her in a show after this).

As for unwarranted crying ...... Ore anyone ??? I Don't remember him attracting such vitriol fro his tears, seems it's OK to cry if you are man 'loving the dance' but not if you are a woman who's mother has just died.

I'm loving this year - so many talented folk who are a joy to watch. (#teamsusan)

DuckOffAutocorrectYouShiv · 15/10/2017 12:42

ppeatfruit she has short term memory loss?

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 15/10/2017 12:47

She normally only has to worry about numbers, names aren't an issue in normal dancesport judging Grin It wasn't great, but I'm sure it's happened before and will happen again.

Wingedharpy · 15/10/2017 12:51

Tears are also a tension release, and who wouldn't be tense doing Alexander's routine?
I held my breath all the way it - it was truly spectacular.
I felt quite emotional just watching so goodness knows how she must have felt doing it.
My eyes were quite moist at the end - nothing to do with my DM, who died 46 years ago.

IhaveChillyToes · 15/10/2017 12:52

@CalmanOnSpeeddial I thought the draws for running order was random until it was discussed on ITT this week

The producers or floor manager or whatever the lady's job was, described how they choose who dances when

iirc it was a sort of celeb male/female mix up and dance style Latin/ballroom mix up

That also was open to being changed after they watch the dress rehearsals HmmHmmHmmHmm

So IMHO to have Alexandra to be at the end or near the end for 3 out of 4 episodes is unfair and like others have said sort of making her the highlight of the show and very easy to remember to vote for given that some people might not watch from beginning

I do know that she really does not need votes atm cos she won't be in DO but it might be influencing other people's vote % iyswim

Does it also have anything to do with X factor timing? - as in, leave the good ones until the end so people do not turn over to ITV (no idea of timing cos never watch X factor so not bothered by what time it clashed)
