The pros choreograph their own routine where they have the necessary expertise. Generally speaking (AFAIK) they all get outside experts to do their Charleston’s, everyone except Janette gets Salsa experts in to do the Salsa, everyone gets outsiders to choreograph the AT (except Vincent and Flavia in the old days). But apart from that they do their own. I’ve heard it said that Aljaz choreographs all Janette’s Ballroom because that’s not her area - not sure whether that’s true.

Whatshouldmyusernamebe · 15/10/2017 09:57

What is the AT ?

CalmanOnSpeeddial · 15/10/2017 09:57

Argentine Tango

Whatshouldmyusernamebe · 15/10/2017 10:01

Thanks.

PoppyPopcorn · 15/10/2017 10:06

Boastyboast... I’ve met Janette and Aljaz. Really lovely couple. Yes they do help each other out with choreography as you would when you’re a married couple and one has experience in Latin, the other in ballroom.

And Janette is TINY, 5 feet if that.

TheSassyAssassin · 15/10/2017 10:08

Oooh now that's a stealth boast to be proud of Poppy, nice to hear they are as lovely in RL as they seem on SCD Smile

CalmanOnSpeeddial · 15/10/2017 10:17

They do seem like an absolutely lovely couple, devoted to each other and their friends.

bonfireheart · 15/10/2017 10:18

Janette dated Artem and Pasha and married Alijaz. Lucky girl!

ppeatfruit · 15/10/2017 10:21

Did anyone notice that the orchestra is in a different place now? it's right in the middle which made a difference to SOME of the music Hmm! Probably better for the sound balance or something.

I thought Tess's dress looked like she had just been dug up by an Egytian explorer of pyramids! All bandages coming undone Grin Claud's was much nicer, some of the dancers were wearing really beautiful ones, Susan's was lovely , Nadiya's was gorgeous ,Charlotte's ?? in a black and sparkly neckline with pale purpley godets!! FAB!! Shirley is a bit Hmm in her judging.

MrsJamin · 15/10/2017 10:25

Yes Aljaz and Janette seem such lovely people. I think the couples do really help each other out - especially Katya and Neil too, as Neil is an excellent choreographer - I'd love to see him get a partner next year, I don't know why he hasn't. He looks like he has loads of personality and skills!

ManicUnicorn · 15/10/2017 10:27

I've not heard that Jonnie isn't nice. However he's frequently late for training and there was an incident this week where Oti was left waiting around for several hours for him to turn up. That to me shows a lack of respect towards Oti and a lack of commitment, I can remember James Jordan totallyletting rip at one of his partners for doing the same thing.

I know sometimes being late can't be help, but when you look at the hours Susan and Brian are putting in it makes you think. I'd expect more dedication from a Paralympic sports person to be honest..

MrsJamin · 15/10/2017 10:30

A picture paints a thousand words?

Yes Janette and Kevin come across as very good teachers. I loved Susan's dance.

AJ is too egotistical. I feel sorry for Mollie she isn't a born dancer even though she's in a girl group.

ElspethFlashman · 15/10/2017 10:43

They collaborate with the Strictly choreographers for some dances like the Argentine Tango but they seem to take all the credit for others.

And that tango was 100% an Anton Special. Keep 'em in hold and do lots of fast twirls and successfully hide the fact that they have all the flexibility of a store mannequin.

Oti's dance looked very Oti, too. Very ambitious and explosive.

ElspethFlashman · 15/10/2017 10:49

The problem with Mollie is that she's getting lost. There are women with real personality who are out shining her. She's just..... pleasant.

MrsJayy · 15/10/2017 10:51

I bet janette and Alijaz are just a beautiful couple, Smile loved last night even Simon Rimmer, Susan is my favourite she is a total delight and she is making Kevin bearable he seems to be very genuine this series.

MrsJayy · 15/10/2017 10:52

Poor Molly is just Meh bless her

CaveMum · 15/10/2017 10:53

To be fair, Anton's Tango was exactly what you'd see on the competition floor. What we see on Strictly is usually a cabaret version of the dances.

For instance I've danced Salsa for years and you NEVER see dancers performing lifts like that unless you're at a showcase! Salsa is a "Club Dance", it's meant to be danced in crowded, sweaty nightclubs where there just isn't the room to be faffing around like that!

MrsJayy · 15/10/2017 10:58

Yes Antons Tango was a Tango least you could tell what dance it was.

CaveMum · 15/10/2017 11:05

Here we go, what a proper Ballroom Tango looks like

ManicUnicorn · 15/10/2017 11:18

I expected Mollie to be good, but she's just meh. She's being totally overshadowed by Alexandra, Debbie and Gemma.

The80sweregreat · 15/10/2017 11:43

It seems to be that the ones you think will be really fabulous are 'not as good you think they should be ( Charlotte and Mollie for example) goes to show how hard these dance routines are. Susan has exceeded my expectations!
I think that the dance off is a bad idea. If your bottom all round in the public's eye, then they should be the ones to go.

strongasmeringue · 15/10/2017 11:47

*@CeeBeeBee - thank you for the warning regarding who went out.

OneInAMillionYou · 15/10/2017 11:50

I hope Charlotte is put out of her misery tonight and is eliminated.

I fervently hope that this is Brendan's last series of SCD. His style seems very dated and I'm bored with his outbursts.

I think Alexandra is very savvy. Tonight is the second time she has brought her late mother into the discussion, I found it very calculating and frankly unnecessary. I would be disappointed if she won although it seems likely.

Loved Gemma and Aljaz and thought Debbie was under marked.

I hope the producers will be fairer with the running order for the next few shows, Alexandra has been favoured with dancing at or near the end, with all the connotations of 'top of the bill'.

CalmanOnSpeeddial · 15/10/2017 11:53

For the people who say Alexandra is being calculating Hmm why on earth would she choose to bring it up now? She could not possibly be less in need of votes than she is this week. The BBC could accidentally leave her off the voting website and disable her phone line and she’d still be here next week.
