The whole show was 100% more enjoyable than last week. Loved it. Go Ruth, Go Gemma, Go Alex. Go the Girls!

KurriKurri · 14/10/2017 21:35

I feel bad saying it - but if you asked me to name the contestants, I would forget Mollie everytime, She just doesn't capture my attention (Although after Shirley 'accidentally forgot Charlotte's name, Mollie will be getting all her votes this week as well as her own Grin)

GorgeousLadyOfWrangling · 14/10/2017 21:37

I think the best thing about these threads was the fact that we always agreed to disagree but there was never any vitriol like you get on Digital Spy where there are haters in abundance.
So whilst I defend anyone's right to say Kevin is annoying (even though I love him) or Alexandra is the ringiest ringah that ever rung (except for Jill/Nat/Jay/Denise/Kara etc to infinity) I do think accusing someone of faking emotion after their mum has only been dead a month is not in keeping with what is usually a lovely warm thread and adjectives like loathesome are inexplicable.

CeeBeeBee · 14/10/2017 21:46

I was expecting Mollie to be very good, as a member of a girl band, but her performances have been just ok so far. She seems nervous a lot of the time. Hope she stays though as she's not the worst and she has a lot of potential.

Walnutwhiplash · 14/10/2017 21:48

Susan and Kevin were great - huge potential for it to be a bit twee but it was a fab routine joyfully delivered. Hope Simon gets to stay another week - he doesn't come across well on Strictly at all but I like him on Sunday Brunch and he's so excited to be doing Strictly. Costumes are a bit disappointing this year - what's with all the puce/purpleConfused

MissEliza · 14/10/2017 21:52

Well done Ruth, Gemma and Susan! Mollie King isn't bad but I thought she'd ace it, given her background. Her performance tonight was so passionless.

Ontheboardwalk · 14/10/2017 21:53

Just watching on catch up but can we stop with the shouty shocking singing and terrible clapping please?

Think I'm going to watch the rest of it on mute!

GorgeousLadyOfWrangling · 14/10/2017 21:54

I agree CeeBeeBee She looked the part on the red carpet/launch but hasn't come into her own yet. It's difficult though or at least will be in a few weeks time to know who will go further in the competition. Just rewatched them all on youtube and Brian/Simon come off worse tonight but I always feel sorry for anyone lumped with a rock theme.
Here's Artem Wink

Gre8scott · 14/10/2017 21:57

I dont understand the kevin hateard hes amazing watch him in the pro dances hes the best by far. He seens so respectable of her and hes planed all the dances to suit her not trying to make her look stupid or sexy etc .. Id love for her to win

MissEliza · 14/10/2017 22:02

I used to think Kevin was quite arrogant but I've completely reversed my opinion of him. He and Susan are great together. I get the feeling he really respects and admires her. He's clearly a good teacher and she's worked hard. She does have a natural lightness on her feet though.

MargotLovedTom1 · 14/10/2017 22:23

Would be quite ironic if Kevin finally wins with his least-likely-to (on paper at least) partner Grin.

I still miss Tristan.

CalmanOnSpeeddial · 14/10/2017 22:31

It would be the funniest punchline ever if Kevin won with Susan. Not just that she’s not a ringer, but also, let’s face it, she was far from a household name to start out with. I think it’s mathematically impossible with so many ringers and other talented dancers ahead of her, but a girl can dream.

Susan’s secret weapon is that despite what her shape might make you expect, she’s very fit. She said she upped her personal training sessions to 5 days a week in the run up to Strictly.

MrsJamin · 14/10/2017 22:36

It is absolutely mean to describe someone as loathsome!
Let's return to the niceties of strictly shall we...
I was disappointed in Joe this week, I wonder whether he could be in trouble...

GrouchyKiwi · 14/10/2017 22:41

Agree with PP that tonight was LOADS better than last week.

Alexandra was bloody amazing. Loved Susan, Gemma and Jonnie as well, and Ruth did a good job.

Charlotte was miles better than the other weeks, Aston surprisingly bad, Joe looked awkward to me, Debbie struggled as I thought she would, Brian surprised me (I actually enjoyed his dance and didn't cringe at all), and Simon's dance was watchable if you pretended he wasn't there and focused on Karen instead. Oh, and I hated Mollie's dance, as usual.

Did I miss anyone?

This year has changed my opinion of both Kevin and Karen. I really like Kevin with Susan. I think they come across as great friends and Kevin's nerdy side seems natural whereas with Kellie I thought it was completely forced.

Watching just Karen in tonight's dance showed how much extra work she has to put in to make the dance watchable. In bits where Simon was meant to be strong and manly you could actually see her move herself towards him to make it look like he did it.

I'd really like Simon to leave tonight. But I suspect it will be Charlotte. The judges were much nicer to her, so the public doesn't have a "spite the judges" reason to keep her in, and she really doesn't look like she's having that much fun.

Noticed that Shirley takes off her glasses when she's going to be mean and leaves them on for her nice feedback.

GrouchyKiwi · 14/10/2017 22:48

I missed Davood. Hated his dance. Nadiya really needs to work on her choreography.

bonfireheart · 14/10/2017 22:50

Kevin has been in every final and everyone has said it's because he has ringers. But now maybe people will realise that his chereography is fab, plays to his celebs strengths, pushes them and is a great teacher.
Alexandra totally, totally amazing but all I can think of is people like Natalie Gumede who was amazing but just 'too' good.
Think Gemma is the dark horse, with Alijaz as a teacher I think she will get better and better.
Was expecting this to be Joe's "Ramprakash" moment but alas it wasn't to be.
Davood today showed he has potential without all the 'sexy' moves.

MissEliza · 14/10/2017 23:01

Joe looked really uncomfortable and not 'into' his routine.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 14/10/2017 23:03

Susan was fab!

Loved Alexandra - she may be throwing herself into this because it helps her stop crying over her mum, or maybe because she wants to do a good job for her mum - we all cope with grief in different ways. Or maybe she is just determined and motivated. Whatever - she is brilliant. Thought Debbie looked very young and pretty, and that Ruth was much better than she has been.

bonfireheart · 14/10/2017 23:07

I do think that Debbie & Giovanni are one of the best partnerships on the show and I really wasn't expecting that!

CotswoldStrife · 14/10/2017 23:13

Is it only me who think that Karen and Simon don't really get on, then?

BeaLola · 14/10/2017 23:43

I love Susan and Kevin's partnership - the dance tonight was unexpectedly good - just the right tone. I think Kevin who I always think of as Tintin does very good routines and gets the best out of his partners. I also like Debbie a lot - I would like to see her get to the final - interestingly I wonder how she would have done with Brendan - he in contrast to Kevin never seems to get the best out of his partners - it's more about him.

As for Gorky - I hope he stays yo the final - very easy on the eye and a fab dancer.

BeaLola · 14/10/2017 23:43

Gorka - just thinking about him I couldn't type straight !

CeeBeeBee · 15/10/2017 00:00

I thought you had meant to call him "Gorky" as an affectionate nick name! Grin

I hope he stays until the final too as he went out far too early last year. Watched his Paso Doble with Tameka on youtube a few days ago. My goodness, his outfit!

MintChocAddict · 15/10/2017 00:31

I loved the fact that Susan's Dad was all emotional in the front row. He's the former chief medical officer of Scotland, has held various other super important titles, led committees, chancellor of various universities but was so obviously proud of his wee girl whirling round the dance floor tonight. Was lovely!

CalmanOnSpeeddial · 15/10/2017 00:37

Something tells me that Sir Kenneth Calman will not be referred to by his title on ITT in the interests of relatability.
