Fizz first please. And everyone related to her.

Actually he's going to have get Andy to start digging out an extension to fit them all in.

elleanora i agree - far too much is being thrown at Seb. Exploring HIV infection among the young should be a slow story given proper thought and care - seems like it has been thrown into the mix to provide another piece of evidence for why Anna might have wanted to attack Seb.

Also, they throw all these multiple stories at one person and then if they use them again too soon with other characters it seems like repetition. It dilutes the effect rather than adds to the drama. It all feels made up on the spot - so we have to believe that Seb had a previous GF called Lacey who had HIV but died and didn't know and her mum told Seb's mum who didn't tell him - yeah sure! and Seb is 15/16??? I also seem to vaguely remember bacj through the mists that the first time Faye went out with Seb I got the impression that Seb's family treated Faye (to a meal?) offscreen and Faye felt like her and Anna were poor??? I may be wrong. They also just dropped the Seb nicking things compulsively storyline and his early aggression towards Faye.

Clawdy · 31/10/2017 08:34

That scene in the hospital with Seb and Anna discussing the split condom - found it really cringey and wrong for a so-called family soap.

redshoeblueshoe · 31/10/2017 08:51

Blue you've just made me realise - yes Pat had just gone on holiday, so how could he be at the hospital ?
What's really annoying is stories jump around, so many times lately where people on here have said -did I miss something ?

Maybe a good solution would be for Pat to kill off a few people every week, then at Christmas drop back to 2 episodes per week, that are well written and funny.

MyBeloved · 31/10/2017 10:17

Maybe Phelan is simply a way of getting rid of pointless characters.

Viviennemary · 31/10/2017 10:25

Phelan will have a big job on his hands to get rid of all the pointless people. He could lock them all up in their own cellars which would solve the space problem. Except Roy of course and maybe Tim who is quite amusing. But there would be nobody in the café and Roy would go bust. But then Phelan could order take aways for his prisoners to keep the café going.

eddiemairswife · 31/10/2017 10:29

I wonder if Vinnie's mum has gone on holiday with Phelan and Eileen.

StayAChild · 31/10/2017 10:35

It's positively farcical now. More like panto! I've watched Corrie all my life. It was like a warm, comforting thing to come home to - Corrie night. As soon as it went to Friday episodes, it was never the same. So many issues being addressed; they have long since lost the spirit of the programme. I really wish the writers would take notice of what the majority of fans are saying.

My friend and I have decided enough is enough and we're consciously choosing not to watch, though old habits die hard.

I did catch part of last night's episode, at the point when Phelan was giving Eileen orders about packing quickly. No way would Eileen be so meek and mild. She would tell him where to go.

Viviennemary · 31/10/2017 10:38

Yes the old Eileen has gone. I remember the first episode she was in doing her telephonist in the taxi firm. She had the makings of a good character and was for a while. Now the script writers have ruined it all. It's just total garbage. Grrrr.

eddiemairswife · 31/10/2017 11:02

I agree about the old Eileen. She used to be witty and could give as good as she got. Now she's a disappointed doormat, who'll be even more down when Todd goes.

LineysRun · 31/10/2017 12:12

Eileen is just Phelan's stooge now, and it doesn't make sense. A bit like Liz putting up with Annoying Woman. Nonsensical. Mary's gone the wrong sort of weird, Emily's supposedly still playing the panpipes in the Andes, Rita's lost her entire character and Toyah is bizarrely drab and tedious. Sally is standing in a mayoral election that could not possibly exist with her parody sister and parody daughters helping, and Anna can't remember who her own relatives are.

Do the writers not 'do' women, or something?

Eastie77 · 31/10/2017 13:35

Snagz I completely forgot Steph went to live with dead Katie in Portugal!

Bluelonerose · 31/10/2017 14:09

I forgot about bunnies mom. I wonder what he did with her?
I no care homes get a bad press but surely someone would of missed her by now ?

Bluelonerose · 31/10/2017 14:10

Vinnie not bunnies. No idea what is going on with my auto correct today Confused

CoolCarrie · 31/10/2017 16:00

How old is Fay meant to be? I must be getting old, but no wonder young girls think it's ok to have underage sex, and Anna is a shit adopted mother.

CoolCarrie · 31/10/2017 16:00

bunnies is a good name for him!

blackbunny · 31/10/2017 16:17

Anna is a bit strange...her mood can turn in a split second, one moment it's all darling and sweetheart, the next she's snarling and spitting like a wild cat.Its disconcerting, does she have mental health issues,is there a background to this?

CoolCarrie · 31/10/2017 16:34

No mental health issues mentioned that I remember, I think she is trying to be supermum, mothering everyone but she is crap at it.

Wormulonian · 31/10/2017 16:48

I agree blackbunny - slapping Seb, threatening his mum, looking like she would kill Seb over the condom split! I remember it was ridiculous how easily and quickly Faye was able to be adopted by Anna. They keep changing Anna when she first arrived on the street she was a pretty nasty piece of work - I think she threatened Tina's dad (who was with Gail) and didn't pay him for installing a new kitchen. Then sometimes she is Saint Anna.

It was ridiculous that she guessed Nicola was pregnant by "the look in her eye" - shame she didn't see that same look in Faye's eyes. She was so horrid to Faye over her baby.

Clawdy · 31/10/2017 17:25

Did I read somewhere Anna may be leaving the programme? Maybe they're building up to an explosive exit.....

Viviennemary · 31/10/2017 18:17

I am amazed that Anna with her bad judgement and weird attitudes was allowed to adopt a child. Still it's only a soap I suppose and not real life. Good riddance if Anna is leaving. She is a total pain.

ArseholesOnToast · 31/10/2017 18:34

I'd be glad to see the back of Anna too. She's an awful character, hairtrigger temper and so interfering. I can't stand her screechy voice either.

JustDanceAddict · 31/10/2017 19:02

I THink Faye is supposed to be year 11, so 15.

scrabbler3 · 31/10/2017 20:04

I think that Seb is 17. He's been out of school for over a year, so at least 16, but he was told that he's not old enough to take responsibility for the twins, so not yet 18.

When he joined the cast he was controlling and dominating Fay. That seems to have stopped now, as if by magic, because it suits the writers to make him a sympathetic character.

Upthread, I wrote that I remembered Martin Platt turning 18 and being admonished by Bet for drinking in the Rovers previously. That episode was then broadcast a few days ago. Weird.....

CS was so much better then. Character and dialogue were big drivers. A handful of storylines are going on in the old eps, some quite dramatic (Gail's affair) others less so (Terry and Alan arguing over Gloria, Sally and Kevin house hunting). But it's no less interesting for not trying to be edgy, issue-led and shocking. And there are few dud actors from what I can see - actors from recent years who I thought were quite poor (Barbara Knox, Anne Kirkbride) were so much better then.

Comedyusername · 31/10/2017 23:16

Agree with much that's been said upthread. Just to add - I thought I heard Phelan on the phone talking about Vinnie's mum, just before he spotted blood on his jeans, but I wasn't paying much attention! And, how did he afford to buy that big house with the cellar, without anyone knowing??

LoveMySituation · 01/11/2017 18:39

Corrie has always been full of and driven by strong women. No more seemingly. Tony Warren would turn in his grave
