As you were ladies...

OP posts:
CalmanOnSpeeddial · 08/10/2017 10:49

Counting the hours until the full Monkseal recap is up for this one tbh. Shirley vs Brendan is the gift that keeps on giving, the Rev will be much funnier in screencap form than he was live and he’s going to demolish Mollie and AJ’s abomination.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 08/10/2017 11:15

AJ looked more like Friederich or Rolf, I agree. They should have had Molly as Liesl, not Maria!

IhaveChillyToes · 08/10/2017 11:22

When Simon is in bottom 2 Shirley will save him anyway regardless of who he is against which is very silly IMHO

Think having favourites is one thing but to be so obviously down on NON favourites is wrong and very unprofessional for head judge

IhaveChillyToes · 08/10/2017 11:23

I also would hate to have Brenda as my dance teacher

OneInAMillionYou · 08/10/2017 11:25

Hoping Rev Richard is the one out tonight as I find him utterly repellant to watch and just fast forward through every moment he is on the screen.
Will start enjoying the show once he is gone, his dancing is utterly shit too.

cowgirlsareforever · 08/10/2017 12:09

If a female pro danced like Brendan she'd have been shown the door ages ago.

TheDailyWail · 08/10/2017 12:20

Absolutely, I had to turn off the Brendan argument.

birchandrowan · 08/10/2017 12:25

Brendan calling Shirley 'My dear' was appalling regardless of the rights and wrongs of the argument. How patronising and dismissive.

The80sweregreat · 08/10/2017 12:51

I really do not like Brendan and i am amazed he is still there - he always starts a fight with the judges, his partners seem to have problems. He is a good dancer ( i dont know anything about dance, but when he is dancing without his partner, he looks really good) but not good at bringing out the best in the celebrity he is with - maybe he just isnt a natural teacher, cant see why someone 'doesnt get it' when he finds it so easy. Some people just dont have enough empathy or patience to teach and it must be hard on this show as they dont have that long to learn a whole routine and he is probably a perfectionist too. I have re-watched Aston as a troll, he is a fabulous dancer, so natural and good at acting the part too. There are some really talented people on this show.

ellenanora5 · 08/10/2017 12:56

I love Brendan Grin

I liked Shirley in the beginning but I've gone right off her now, not because of the Brendan clash but because her love for Simon and her scoring of his dance was ridiculous, and after her hugging him last week which was a bit odd.

He also looked ridiculous as Buzz.

Gemma was my favourite of them all last night, I think she will get better and better.

Ruth or Rev to go tonight for me

CeeBeeBee · 08/10/2017 13:03

I predict Ruth and Charlotte in the dance off tonight. I'd be astounded if Charlotte didn't go this week. Her morale is down and Brendan isn't helping with his answering back.

Auburn2001 · 08/10/2017 13:09

I think Charlotte or the Rev should go this week. My favourite is Joe.

AJ just looked like a teenage Captain Von Trapp to me!

Also thought Alexandra was Mary Poppins. Would have been better to have her dancing with Henry Higgins.

birchandrowan · 08/10/2017 13:10

Charlotte can't possibly be enjoying it so I hope she goes soon, but after the rev. Richard, please!
The other hopeless ones can go in any order, but with Shirley's fawning, Simon will be here for some weeks yet.

OneInAMillionYou · 08/10/2017 13:11

Charlotte reminds me of Rachel Riley, a pretty girl who hasn't got an ounce of rhythm and is hoping to get by looking good in the frocks.

Her facial expressions reveal she is hating every minute of being shown to have no talent and she needs to develop a bit of backbone facing the judges, all this 'poor little me being picked on' requiring Brendan to 'come to her rescue' is pathetic.

Contrast this with Susan Calman, who displays massive enthusiasm and the joy of dancing.

The80sweregreat · 08/10/2017 13:15

Even Ed balls was bettter than Charlotte.
Agree that Susan is great. She wont win, but she will go out laughing and trying her best.

CeeBeeBee · 08/10/2017 13:32

I agree with a previous poster about Anastasia being infinitely better when she dances with Gorka one week. So much so, that people wanted him as her partner for the rest of the show.

It really is a shame about Brendan because I like watching him in the pro dances.

KurriKurri · 08/10/2017 13:34

Victoria Pendleton is the person who comes into my mind when I see Charlotte too (as PP said) looks like she should be great (poise. grace etc) but stymied by nerves. She looks like she is praying she will be voted out.

My favourite is Joe - he seems like a nice person, working hard, takes criticism and isn;t totally up himself. Looks like he is surprised he is quite good at this. And I adore Katya - she is just a joy, I love her choereography, the way she brings the best out of people and her bubbly personlity. She's a massive asset to the show. Would love Neil to have a celebrity too next year (but I read somewhere he is more involved with choreography ??)

I also like Alexandra - I thought I wouldn't warm to her but I loved her dance this week - got the mood perfectly, and Gorka is lovely - very impressed by his choreog.

Despite the fact that I think Brendan is an arse, I'm not massively keen on Shirley, she should have risen above the Brenda tantrum and not thrown in her pot stirrer dig at him after Aston's dance.

Sick of the sight of Eamonn (or more the constant shots of him) I thin Ruth would do better if he wasn;t always looming about like a groke.

CalmanOnSpeeddial · 08/10/2017 13:39

Arguably the worst thing about the whole Brendan/Shirley spat is all the people saying “oh poor Charlotte, why is everyone being so mean to her and making her so upset”.

Charlotte Hawkins is a 42 year old (yes, really!) professional journalist and live TV presenter who has signed up to a TV programme in which she will be judged on her ability to dance in the hope of a huge career boost. I get that she’s nervous but FFS people, stop with the infantilising of a competent middle aged professional broadcaster.

CalmanOnSpeeddial · 08/10/2017 13:41

NB the above is not having a go at Charlotte herself, who has not asked for special favours or played egregiously on “Me Neeeerves!”

KurriKurri · 08/10/2017 13:50

I think it's shame that someone who clearly is not enjoying herself, is still in it when someone who clearly was loving it (Chizzy) has gone home.

Maybe for the first cull they should ditch the dance off and ask for a volunteer Grin

I love Susan by the way - she's making Kevin bearable, no mean feat !
And I love the fact that her wife is in the audience every week quietly supporting her, unlike the ubiquitous Eamonn who seems to be trying to gatecrash Ruth's experience.

bonfireheart · 08/10/2017 15:21

Couldn't wait for Len to leave but at least he wasn't attention seeking and trying to stir...

I'm not bothered by the Brendan/Shirley clash - Brendan has ALWAYS clashed with the Judges, particularly Craig, and I can't help but feel a lot of the hysteria being whipped up by some in the media is because Shirley is a woman.

Brendan has a problem with authority in general, he is Scott from Strictly Ballroom Wink

cowgirlsareforever · 08/10/2017 16:16

Derek Hough has now waded into the argument, backing Shirley.

cowgirlsareforever · 08/10/2017 16:16

Sorry for the cross-post!
