So have been away for the weekend THOUGHT I had recorded it but dh had taken the plug out of the wall so we wouldn't get struck by lightning .

So I just managed to get in to see the dance off and was amazed that flat footed Conley got through fgs!!! Were the judges right????? I know Chizzy didn't dance much, but the bit she did was at least DANCING !!!! Though true not very foxtrotty.

Really enjoyed Saturday's show esp Aston, Alexandra, Jonnie and Debbie. Did NOT enjoy the mawkish Simon Rimmer/Hillsborough thing. Really sorry Chizzy went over Brian - was really surprised, but there was very little dance content in Whizzy's number (perhaps because of her knee?).

Also disappointed they couldn't come up with a replacement name for Len's Lens: we should start a campaign via Zoe Ball and ITT. SHe's obviously a reader of the Mumsnet threads - referring to Gorka the Corker is a give-away. Strictly Speaking is a great idea!

Hello dahlings. Caught up with both shows late last night, and this is the first chance I've had to catch up with the MN discussion. I enjoyed Saturday's show, but it's hard to comment because it'll take me until at least week six to remember who everyone is.

I'm a bit gutted to see the back of Chizzy so early. OK, I know they go on about 'bubbly personality' but Strictly is one of the few TV shows where we get to see bigger women being gorgeous and glamorous. I wish she'd been in for longer. Brian was awful, I don't want to have to see him again.

Also, from the previous thread, I'm very pleased to see that I wasn't the only person channelling Simon Bates and Our Tune. I always thought that someone wrote those 'listeners' real experiences' for a living.

Thank you to whoever posted that lovely video of Austin and Erin's quickstep. I can't believe it's nine years ago - Erin was my favourite pro of all time, I still miss her. And Lilia.

How can Shirley say that Brian deserved to win because of "content"?

Surely a simpler routine, well-performed should be judged as better than a complex one totally balled-up? Otherwise they could all just lump themselves about the floor attempting all types of stuff, and plain to be better because they put in a - I dunno - "triple seiko with cross brace and two widdershins half-turns"*

*NB - this may not be a real dancing thing.

Agree Chizzy was robbed. Charlotte was painful to watch and should have gone.

In fairness her Mum has just died so is probably a bit all over the place but if I remember correctly from The X Factor, she was like that then as well. When she won it-the facial expression was so cringeworthy!

seen it as a freestyle before but the rope/whip often hindered the performance. Oti's been there with the red elastic in Danny's foxtrot so hoping she doesn't overchoreograph.

Chizzy was nothing more than the pantomime dame of Strictly and for her sake its better that she's gone. She's been saved from herself and saved from the horrible fat woman stereo-tying that was going on. She really was playing up to it.

She wasn't being gorgeous and glamorous. She was being the pantomime dame. It was just horrible. She was given a stereotype to play and she took to it with relish.

I think Brian is a better dancer than Chizzy >ducks<

Chizzy had great rhythm but she had terrible footwork. You can't substitute shoulder action and gurning for footwork and that's what I feel she was doing.

Brian wasn't half as bad as I thought he'd be.

She was even playing up to the 'fat people are happy people thats why they are so loud' stereotype. She was always trying to get screen time and just didnt know when to shut up. For that reason alone she deserved to go. Other people will not get a chance to speak.
