I'm sure there are many planning to watch this tonight but I can't see a thread, apologies if there is one.

Looks promising with good acting stock. I'm already worried about the implications for real life reporting and conviction rates if the female is lying. Got a feeling it won't be that black and white though.

Or phone records will trace his mum then visit then talk to carer and find stuff in shed

eternalopt · 10/10/2017 06:37

This had such potential. The first 3 episodes were subtle and kept you guessing...and now it's batshit crazy!! A real series of two halves.

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 10/10/2017 07:15

Ihave,

IIRC, he got into DI Vanessa's home simply by picking the lock on the sliding garden door (living room)!!! Which is laughable, given that she'd surely be on the ball about security? What with being police and all...

He then conveniently found the door's actual key (on a sideboard?), with which he later let himself back in, once she was knocked out by the spiked juice.

BurnTheBlackSuit · 10/10/2017 07:29

People still not believing he did it - this must be people thinking there's going to be a twist in the tale, rather than the "rape prejudice" it sounds like I think.

IRL people don't believe women/think the man must be innocent, but I think this is different.

Which makes this a rubbish series. Would be much better if they had left doubt and she wasn't believed and then revealed he was guilty at the end.

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/10/2017 07:52

I would have handcuffed him arrested and then left in car for 8hrs /till drug wore off then drove to station

southeastdweller · 10/10/2017 08:07

What a load of heavy-handed tosh this is. The scene at the end when Vanessa raced over to the dockyard at night to confront Andrew reminded me of the 'And I would have got away with it if it wasn't for you kids' scene at the end of Scooby Doo episodes.

FeralBeryl · 10/10/2017 09:18

Her dragging him up those step was a total shark jump.
Agree with the poster who heard the scooby doo music when he lifted his untied hands up 'ta-daaa'
Ffs, obvs I'll still watch next week though Grin

CarrieBradshawsScrunchie · 10/10/2017 09:34

I'm really enjoying it. It's a drama so dramatic things must happen.

I was surprised there wasn't more of a reaction from Laura at the end when Vanessa was shouting at Andrew about what he'd done to her. No real shock and surprise that the police officer investigating her case was also a victim! There could have at least been a 'bloody hell!' or something...but she just kept staring forward with her mouth hanging open.

IhaveChillyToes · 10/10/2017 09:37

Thank you ThaliaLuxurySpa

CoolCarrie · 10/10/2017 09:54

To rebalance the bad guy Ioan you all need to watch a brilliant film he is in, Amazing Grace with a great cast including Albert Finney, Stephen Campbell Moore, Benedict Cumberbatch, Rufus Sewell, Toby Jones, Romala Garia, and Yohisa D'or. Ioan plays William Wilberforce who brought in the bill to end slave ships and founded the RSPCA. Make sure you have hankies because it is a tearjerker.

keepondreaming · 10/10/2017 12:40

@CarrieBradshawsScrunchie I thought the same. Surely she would had said WTF? He raped you too!

purpleme12 · 10/10/2017 12:40

Yes I also thought that

ConcreteUnderpants · 10/10/2017 13:22

ThaliaLuxurySpa

It was his mother's house.

Have to admit I did like the "Don't run" bit he snarled. Very menacing.

kittydetective · 10/10/2017 13:26

Off the wall a bit but he might be setting it up for his son ... that’s proper twisted thou

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 10/10/2017 13:34

Surprising lack of obligatory blue rope from the ITV 9pm crime drama's stockpile ( Broadchurch , The Loch , Fearless ...).

Doubly noticeable, given the beach/ kayak club/ boat shed abduction locations.

Kudos to them for that at least, I suppose.

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 10/10/2017 13:35

Thanks, Concrete.

KurriKurri · 10/10/2017 13:52

So are we supposed to think his collection of SD cards is recordings of all his previous rapes ? There must have been at least 12 in the card holder - that's a lot of rape footage - how many time has he done this, are loads of others going to come to light ?
Why didn't they find the cards when they raided his house - since he's only just hidden them.

I am assuming the elderly lady is his mother, and that the carer may have a nose around in the shed and find his films/ drugs etc.

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 10/10/2017 14:17

Or his son goes visiting Granny and has convenient plot reason to venture into shed? Sad

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 10/10/2017 14:23

^ Oh, sorry, I missed that Kitty already suggested that.

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 10/10/2017 14:26

^ Though I'm thinking the son may discover them by accident, rather than intended by his father.

CoolCarrie · 10/10/2017 14:30

I think he is going to end up dead, just a feeling. Jill Halfpenny might will turn up next week, as it's the last one and she is clearly a soldier, and she will deal with him. As pp have said why have her appear in the series for such a short time, unless she is going to turn up again.

dottypotter · 10/10/2017 14:35

gave up after week 2 long drawn out, usual story ,and using rape and violence as entertainment.

Elendon · 10/10/2017 16:34

Those two women certainly have the measure of him. He's like a Harvey Weinstein.

Interesting re the GBH drug information. He's a total sleazeball/abuser/rapist and yet so charming and attractive and believable.

Elendon · 10/10/2017 16:40

There could have at least been a 'bloody hell!' or something...but she just kept staring forward with her mouth hanging open.

But no one should dictate what another person's reaction would be no matter how least that would be. We are all different.
