I'm sure there are many planning to watch this tonight but I can't see a thread, apologies if there is one.

Looks promising with good acting stock. I'm already worried about the implications for real life reporting and conviction rates if the female is lying. Got a feeling it won't be that black and white though.

Finally caught up on Monday night’s ep... which has taken a bit of a turn for the ridiculous. Horrible to watch. But I KNEW the detective’s pregnancy would end up being a significant plot device... Wonder where it’ll go next, and whether the nice brother-in-law will discover the sister’s infidelity.

STRONGandSTABLE · 04/10/2017 23:36

I really hope Detective hasn't lost her baby, but it's not looking good, is it? And yes, PP upthread who said a medical check will show she has just had sex ...... ugh - horrible.

Inkanta · 04/10/2017 23:56

Like how Laura is quite ballsy - goes knocking on his door and shouts at him.

GColdtimer · 05/10/2017 06:45

@orenisthenewblack what are you wondering if we can rule the ex out of?

STRONGandSTABLE · 05/10/2017 09:57

Of course medical examination will reveal she has had vaginal sex and possibly his DNA there? Did he leave any with Laura?

rollerbladersrule · 05/10/2017 10:00

He wore a condom with Laura I don't remember there being any DNA?

Im sure he would have worn a condom and been very careful with the detective, especially considering him wearing gloves etc. when he came in.

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/10/2017 10:02

think he used a condom with laura

rem a scene with him going to the bathroom for a condom and he said in police interview that if she didnt want it why didnt she leave the bedroom while he went to get them, or something like that

dna doesnt help in her case, as he admits they had sex, but she consented

Alittlepotofrosie · 05/10/2017 13:43

I dont think she will lose her baby. I hope not anyway that's a step too far. Bleeding is quite common after sex in pregnancy.

Polkadot1974 · 05/10/2017 20:13

I can't cope with this so soon after Doctor Foster
Feel like I'm being toyed with but not in an intriguing way. I'll continue to watch though!

Clawdy · 05/10/2017 22:15

It was so much more interesting when we were unsure if he was guilty, and who was the "Liar". Now it's just a clichéd thriller with an evil villain, and plucky woman determined to bring him to justice. Boring, and been done loads of times before.

MissWimpyDimple · 06/10/2017 02:42

Initially I thought he raped the police officer too, but I’m beginning to think he actually performed some sort of abortion?

She didn’t look very dishevelled and as a surgeon he would have the know how?

It doesn’t really fit his MO at all to rape her like that (not saying he can’t develop it but still), but aborting her baby would fit with his sense of “injustice” for having his name sullied?

Papafran · 06/10/2017 05:53

No, pretty sure he raped her. There would be a hell of a lot of blood plus she would be in a lot of pain had he done that. He would also need surgical implements. She had a bit of blood on the toilet tissue. And he also did not know she was pregnant.

theaveragewife · 06/10/2017 09:48

Actually this was the most distressing part for me, and I thought if they dragged it out any longer than it already had been it could have been damaging to people who have been raped/abused and not believed. It is too socially ingrained into us to disbelieve women, it shouldn't be a voyeuristic popcorn eating event for sofa judges - who will mostly believe or excuse the man....where have those posters gone btw??

InigoTaran · 06/10/2017 11:21

Here's a real life example of a rich and powerful man sexually abusing women, producer Harvey Weinstein

www.nytimes.com/2017/10/05/us/harvey-weinstein-harassment-allegations.html

SchadenfreudePersonified · 06/10/2017 21:42

Well, I'm enjoying the programme, OTT or not.

I think that raping the police officer will be his undoing. He thinks that she will be unaware of what has happened (though may have been surprised if she was a virgin - not necessarily though as she may have experimented with heterosexuality inner youth) - and so she would have been had she not (I expect) rushed to hospital with a suspected miscarriage, where they will probably advise her to refrain from sexual intercourse for a while, and that is when a lot of pennies will drop - but how to prove it? . . .

Now read on . . .

Missushb · 07/10/2017 08:31

I wonder if the webcam could still be on? She could have saw it all! From when policewoman was talking to her girlfriend in Iraq?

Jill Halfpenny must be in it again if imagine, don't think they'd have her for a 5 min webcam scene.

Alittlepotofrosie · 07/10/2017 09:10

Good point miss! But was the laptop anywhere in sight? She skyped from the sofa/coffee table didn't she?

Missushb · 07/10/2017 10:46

Hmm can't remember now; I think the table was clear actually when he was in the room. Maybe on at a side table or something.

BeyondNoone · 07/10/2017 12:28

Quick google doesn’t appear to show that GHB is an abortifacient - and obv regular “PiV” is fine in pregnancy - so assuming he wasn’t really rough (as surely she’d notice pain and bruising etc then) i’d agree with the theory that the blood is due to hymen rupture rather than her losing the baby.

Oo, laptop camera being on is a good shout too

BeyondNoone · 07/10/2017 12:29

I don’t know if it can be used for video calling (I’ve never tried), but I have a camera on top of my TV that could potentially be on without someone breaking in knowing about it

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 09/10/2017 20:28

Predictions for tonight?

Questions we want answered?

troodiedoo · 09/10/2017 20:32

The blurb in the TV mag says it's a good episode, but a little far fetched.

Insomnibrat · 09/10/2017 21:02

I KNOW we've been told the surgeon did it but I cant get past the Ex B/F's weirdness.

squaresandsquares · 09/10/2017 21:07

It makes me feel sick that she's been raped

Trailedanderror · 09/10/2017 21:10

Quick quick! Snapshot précis as I'm watching it with mil who'll explain everything otherwise.
So far I've got Tom, his girlfriend and Katie and the pregnant (policewoman?) who's been raped?
