What are people's opinions on the new Bake Off so far? And yes, I know we're only a few minutes in. IMO the new presenters feel a bit like they're trying a little too hard to be Mel and Sue.

Opinions?

That was the right decision.

Crispbutty · 24/10/2017 21:11

Phew!!

MiniCooperLover · 24/10/2017 21:11

I do think Stacey had better previous weeks than Kate but her cheeky little girl got her through

secondhoneymoon · 24/10/2017 21:11

It was close though, the final needed Stephen in it

SchadenfreudePersonified · 24/10/2017 21:11

THANK YOU GOD!!!!

AndromedaPerseus · 24/10/2017 21:12

Shame mopey Kate is in the final rather than life affirming Liam

Xmasbaby11 · 24/10/2017 21:12

Good result! They are so talented.

ContessaBonessa · 24/10/2017 21:12

I've watched this week's episode but am still not sure of the finalist's names. I think that's a sign I haven't been as engaged this year!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 24/10/2017 21:13

I've really warmed to Steven over the weeks - but I agree with others that Kiam should have been there (with Steven and Sophie)

JustDanceAddict · 24/10/2017 21:17

About time!

Boulshired · 24/10/2017 21:20

I am annoyed this week, Sophie’s looked good but was really just meringue glued to a cake (in lots of pieces), Kate’s had no structure and Stacey’s just plonked down. At least Stephen had a go at meringues as a structure rather than a decoration. None of them were great.

Butterymuffin · 24/10/2017 21:44

Sophie's meringue was described as 'perfect' despite the big bloody cracks. I think they wanted to make her star baker but it would perhaps have been fairer to say 'it's so close there's no star baker this week'.

InsomniacAnonymous · 24/10/2017 21:46

I'm glad Stacey's gone, it's going to be a good final. I really like Pru as a judge btw.

jay55 · 24/10/2017 21:47

I think Sophie got star baker for her technical ad much as the show stopper, she was miles ahead on that.

TheLastPeg · 24/10/2017 21:48

Contessa it was only last week that I could finally remember Sophie's name. She is good but a bit boring.

Normally Noel/Sandi go straight across to whoever is leaving once it's announced and hug them, or their neighbour pats them on the shoulder etc, but nobody moved! Eventually it was Paul who gave the first hug, which never happens! Maybe Stacey wasn't that popular...

SashaFiercesMummyFromHell · 24/10/2017 21:49

Bit of a disaster- meringue week. Think that it's been said before kind of have a weird thing for Noel now Blush.

Butterymuffin · 24/10/2017 21:56

Jay I think you're right - but I wish in that case they'd said 'really close this week so star baker was decided by the one round where someone was clearly ahead'.

I find Sophie very hard to warm to, though she's a very good baker.

RainbowPastel · 24/10/2017 22:13

Gutted Stacey has gone. Can't stand Smug Stephen or Sophie and Kate never does well. Kate should have gone weeks ago.

I'm annoyed on Steven's behalf that Prue and Paul mentioned the cracks in his merengue showstopper but didn't comment on the cracks in Sophie's.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 24/10/2017 23:23

Yes - especially as Sophie's was practically in pieces.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 24/10/2017 23:24

Gutted Stacey has gone.

Are you on glue Rainbow?

RainbowPastel · 24/10/2017 23:26

She was by far the most genuine.

Floralnomad · 24/10/2017 23:28

I felt a bit sorry for Steven this week as well . Very happy that Stacey went and twitter has been really amusing with all the celebratory clips . Kate's looked like it had been made by a 9 year old and I wasn't that impressed with Sophie's either , it was very simple looking .

Ceto · 25/10/2017 00:20

The point about Sophie's was that she did a good job of covering up the cracks, whereas Steven's was so far gone that he couldn't.
