Anyone watching? Seems a bit ropey so far but I'm still quite gripped.

I'm watching it, not really sure about it, not exactly gripping so far Hmm

bootsmealdeal · 11/07/2017 21:40

The script is pretty wooden.

Crispbutty · 11/07/2017 21:45

I think it's really good so far.

PseudoBadger · 11/07/2017 21:47

Oh it's awful! And I normally watch anything...

furlinedsheepskinjacket · 11/07/2017 21:50

bit ropey is about right

some awful acting

tigerdriverII · 11/07/2017 21:54

I like it

Dulra · 11/07/2017 22:01

Interesting 1st episode will watch on Smile

CoolCarrie · 11/07/2017 22:12

It reminds me of a book I read recently, about two girls and a missing child, it will be interesting to see if this story goes the same way.

Akire · 11/07/2017 22:13

I'm not enthralled, not keen on silly flashbacks that don't make sense so often. We see how it goes.

bootsmealdeal · 11/07/2017 22:15

I'm still smarting from that other bbc1 drama about the pregnant architect that had the ridiculous ending.

OP posts:
eddiemairswife · 11/07/2017 22:19

A bit cliched; maverick cop, hidden childhood secrets, dodgy husband of ex-schoolmate and to cap it all a secret other man.
Felt Linda was really wooden.
Did the plump woman police officer play a similar role in the drama about the young Jane Tennison?
Why must rain always be torrential? What's wrong with drizzle?
Why,oh why, do so many characters have identical beards?

RaynaJaymes · 11/07/2017 22:20

I liked it. Will definitely be watching next week.

Optimist1 · 11/07/2017 22:35

Wish I had a £ for every time someone identified themselves (or was identified) as police! Or remarked on Helen's pregnancy.

bagelbaby · 11/07/2017 22:38

The friend's house and location looked just like the one used in the Shannon Matthews drama!

Mumteedum · 11/07/2017 22:40

Thought was v silly. The interview was daft. She was being shown evidence bit there was no "for the tape, x is being shown exhibit a..". Unless the other shows are Bollox and that doesn't happen.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 11/07/2017 22:42

I don't get it, just because she's a police officer somewhere else she can just pitch up at any murder scene and they tell her everything?

Crispbutty · 11/07/2017 22:51

I liked it. But I do like mark billinghams books in general and haven't read this one.

I think it's the taxi driver

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/07/2017 23:04

havnt seen yet tho like his books tho havnt readthis one

squoosh · 11/07/2017 23:07

'Did the plump woman police officer play a similar role in the drama about the young Jane Tennison?'

She was the woman who was murdered in that architect drama and yes she played a WPC in the Prime Suspect prequel. And she played a similar role in the UK Law and Order.

She's clearly the go to woman for these roles!

billybullshitterz1 · 11/07/2017 23:11

It was ok. Spotted Peep Shows Superhans as the crazily dressed pathology guy so may persevere next week

stonecircle · 11/07/2017 23:13

Am watching just because I love Mark Billingham's books, but have to admit it wasn't a gripping first episode. I think Mark B was in it - wasn't he the court usher?

bagelbaby · 11/07/2017 23:28

He was. Cameo appearance
I thought all a bit of a cliche.

WomblingThree · 12/07/2017 00:37

It was a bit shite, but I quite enjoyed it (what does that say about me?!). Surely the newspaper wouldn't publish a photo of a murder suspect's wife though?

furlinedsheepskinjacket · 12/07/2017 01:47

yy to shannon matthews/the replacement/broadchurch mash up

its no line of duty that's for sure

stargazer2030 · 12/07/2017 05:00

It was okay. Lots of ridiculous bits though as others have said.
Did anyone else think the sound quality was poor. I had to keep turning it up and down as I couldn't hear some of the dialogue but then it would suddenly go really loud?
My main gripe though is it was set mainly in Derbyshire. Many amazing towns that fit the bill so I googled where it was filmed - Huddersfield, West Yorkshire..... Really annoyed me for some reason. Like filming the Loch Ness drama in the Lake District. Could have been a fantastic advert for the area.
