Thanks for the link, BringMeTea.

Imagine it's 21 years since Martina won her first Wimbledon title, in the women's doubles!

JaneJeffer · 16/07/2017 18:22

I'm going to miss chatting to my dysfunctional tennis family on here! Raahh I'm sure you will keep us informed whenever there's any tennis to be seen - well I hope you will anyway Grin

Raahh · 16/07/2017 18:22

I LOVE Wimbledon, but things don't stop for them now it's over.

When I started watching tennis we only had one channel and Wimbledon was the only tennis they showed and we had a black and white tv!

GrouchyKiwi · 16/07/2017 18:24

I thought the latter stages of the tournament were a bit lacking. There were some fantastic matches in the earlier rounds (despite the people withdrawing through injury).

Ah well. Well done to Jamie & Martina. They were very strong.

Raahh · 16/07/2017 18:25

Oh, I will Jane . I don't get to 'watch' much , as I don't have SKy, but I will carry on waffling to myself on the thread, and filling anyone in who cares to read it of the progress of various people. mainly Rafa.

Seriously, though, although I'm not a fan, I hope Murray's injury is not one that keeps him out too long- and also that Djok can sort his head out. I think his problems are mental more than physical. I'd love to see Marin come back strong at the US, and I'm still hopeful for Delpo! Grin

Oooh, I discovered Eurosport on the Amazon Firestick, so I'll be investigating that for other tournaments.

SueMacartney · 16/07/2017 18:26

Raahh I could google but do you mind me asking you as I'm sure you know - a general guide to when the tournaments are on? Always mean to follow more outside Wimbledon.

Raahh · 16/07/2017 18:27

They are ruining my end of Wimbledon experience with bloody Coldplay.

Where is the proper theme tune??Angry.

Jamie Murray definitely commentated on a couple of matches this tourney, once he lost his (mens) dubs match on the Friday (I think he did a match on BBC on Saturday). I thought he did a good job, a nice change from Inverdale, Castle et al.

It's been a weird Wimbledon final wise (the men dubs being the best of the finals), but some good matches along the way.

Back to work tomorrow. Blah!

CremeEggThief · 16/07/2017 18:30

Canadian and U.S. hard court season starts soon and then the final Slam of the year, the U.S. Open, starts 28th August (Bank holiday Monday for us). A lot of these tournaments are shown by Sky, if you have it, Sue.

BringMeTea · 16/07/2017 18:30

See y'all next year.

Fizzywinegum · 16/07/2017 18:31

I've enjoyed this years Wimbledon and it's been nice to share it on here with (mainly) like minded people. The finals were a bit disappointing - I've not really recovered from Rafa losing. I spent most of that match hiding under my hoody.

Looking forward to the hard court season now.

Always feel sad when the last Wimbledon tumpty tum music is played.

Happy Blue Monday everyone

SueMacartney · 16/07/2017 18:33

Thanks Creme.

Think I will start MAJI (Mumsnetters against John Inverdale).

CremeEggThief · 16/07/2017 18:33

Stefan is being interviewed on BBC 2 now, Raah.

Raahh · 16/07/2017 18:34

The ATP site is a good one to get all the info. Sue

here

next up is Montreal, the Rogers Cup, on the 8th August (I think).

I also use the live tennis ranking site for my stats. Because I'm a geek, and I love seeing the ranking points.
live-tennis.eu

Shows live rankings, the race, how much prize money they've wonGrin.

Bloody Coldplay. I'm cross now.

Thank you all for letting me join in .
A bit of a damp squib end, but enjoyed the company :)

JaneJeffer · 16/07/2017 18:35

It'll soon be XFactor time now, see some of you there Sad

Just had to rewind to re-watch Stefan Grin. He's so lovely.

trixymalixy · 16/07/2017 18:38

Well I think that was a disappointing Wimbledon marred by injuries and one sided matches. The Nadal/muller match was the most exciting match in my opinion, although I didn't manage to watch as much of Wimbledon as I normally do.

Raahh · 16/07/2017 18:42

Jane yes, it will soon be X Factor.

This later Wimbledon start has thrown me a bit again, ds finishes school on Friday, and the girls next week. It's making the year go really quickly.

And bless Marin. He does have a lovely smile. He did well at Queen's , he's done well here.

OP posts:
CremeEggThief · 16/07/2017 18:43

It was a great tournament up to the quarters, apart from all the retirements in the first couple of days. The men's doubles was definitely the best match of all the finals.

Heartbreaking that a blister was the cause of what happened to Marin today.

Raahh · 16/07/2017 18:48

Creme it seems so trivial, doesn't it? But blisters are awful, and if you can't stand on your feet, then you can't move. And if you have size 14 feet...

mine are a 2. Grin

Raahh · 16/07/2017 18:52

Rafa had blisters on his hand (again in Australia 2014) and it looked liked that would be a problem for him there. Holding a racquet can't be easy with a blister on your palm. Seems really trivial, but can stop you playing really easily.

They were disgusting actually Grin
