It's even unsettling the Federers I think.

CremeEggThief · 16/07/2017 15:11

I think he's going to retire now.

bookbook · 16/07/2017 15:12

painkillers there ...

BringMeTea · 16/07/2017 15:12

Unsettle the Federers. Like Meet the Fockers. Poor Marin.

trixymalixy · 16/07/2017 15:12

Come on Cilic!!! You can come back from this!!

SueMacartney · 16/07/2017 15:13

I feel awful that he can't go off and chat to the doctor in private.

CremeEggThief · 16/07/2017 15:13

Of course it must be. They must be as baffled as the rest of us. It's uneasy to watch...

bookbook · 16/07/2017 15:14

oh shut up Andrew Castle ....

JaneJeffer · 16/07/2017 15:17

The physio looks like Nidge off Love/Hate.

CremeEggThief · 16/07/2017 15:17

I wish they could bend the rules and let Marin speak to his team, even if they came on to the court...

Raahh · 16/07/2017 15:20

Can they gag Castle?

If nothing else, this two weeks of Wimbledon has taught GrouchyBaby how to cheer when watching sport.

bookbook · 16/07/2017 15:22

training Grouchy Grin

CremeEggThief · 16/07/2017 15:23

Go on Marin!

Raahh · 16/07/2017 15:25

Aww, Go! GrouchyBaby!

Let him have a set, Federer , you meany.

It's a bit like when Stan won in Australia 2014. Rafa was clearly injured. It wasn't how Stan wanted to win his first slam, and the loss affected Rafa badly. It affected Stan badly too, knowing people thought he only won because Rafa was injured. But we will never know, either way. Could Stan have won it, if Rafa had been fit? Stan's win at RG over Djok was his way to exorcise those demons- but he didn't play well for ages after his Aussie win.

I doubt Federer will be similarly affected, though. But nor sure how Cilic will fare after this, mentally.

Poor, poor Marin. It must be so horrible to have done all the hard work to get to the final and not be able to play at the top of your game.

SueMacartney · 16/07/2017 15:29

Yes, bloody Andrew castle! "Well done" - so patronising. Have you played a Wimbledon final against federer with an injury? No, so shut up!

OxfordshireLass · 16/07/2017 15:29

This is terrible, feel so sorry for Cilic. Whilst I definitely want a Fed win I want it to be competitive.

JaneJeffer · 16/07/2017 15:29

Yes, come on!

bookbook · 16/07/2017 15:29

They play within such small margins , that unless they are remarkable, the injured one never really stands a chance .
But he is getting his composure back I'm glad to see

GrouchyKiwi · 16/07/2017 15:29

Marin playing a lot better now. It's great to see some decent points.

Yy, Raahh. I hope he can find some strength to recover.

BringMeTea · 16/07/2017 15:32

Awful to see someone so vulnerable. I'm sure Fed will happily take it though.

Raahh · 16/07/2017 15:34

Andrew Castle, iirc, never got past the second round.

It's such a shame. I thought this might be a great final.

CremeEggThief · 16/07/2017 15:37

I think in a way you're being cruel to be kind if you don't give your injured/distressed opponent any free points, as it's prolonging the agony for them.

Marin is doing a lot better than he was and I think Fed has been unsettled. Sure he'll take it, but there's no way this is how he wanted to win. No way!
