Tennis Tennis Tennis

I'll stick my neck out & say Fed to win the mens' & Carolina Plisshkova (sp?) for the womens'.

OP posts:

I find Sam's voice really soothing. Kim seemed shy and a bit unsure of herself but it was her first time commentating I think? I liked Sam explaining to Kim about barley water Grin

IHateUncleJamie · 05/07/2017 22:26

I will concede that Fed's cardis were pretty awful. Other than that, I adore him. Such a nice gentle guy, an incredible ambassador for the sport, and so graceful on court. 😍😍

BagelGoesWalking · 06/07/2017 00:03

I like Sam's voice and commentary too. You're right, her voice is soothing, never shrill. It took me ages to realise it was Kim Clijsters but I hope she does well.

BagelGoesWalking · 06/07/2017 00:03

Meant to add, did anyone see the Medvedev game with all the umpire overrules?

Raahh · 06/07/2017 07:06

bagel I think most missed it because it clashed with everything else,I only saw the vague highlights ( when I was channel hopping, he was pulling the match back). But we had a discussion about whether he was aware of the bribe allegations surrounding Alves- seems an odd thing to do (throw coins) if he didn't know about her 'interesting' umpiring history.
did leave us wondering how she kept her job after it, though. but at least we have the legacy of HawkeyeGrin

Raahh · 06/07/2017 07:09

And I loved her explaining barley water to Kim as wellGrin.

Personally, I have always found it disgusting, and awful for quenching thirst. Seems to leave a funny film on my tongue!

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 06/07/2017 08:16

Oh my God, I don't think I can bear how absolutely lovely this man is:

Nadal

Raahh · 06/07/2017 08:28

the only isn't he lovely? Kyrgios would probably have argued with the self service till.Grin

CremeEggThief · 06/07/2017 11:23

I think Kyrgios would have smashed it up!Grin

Lemon barley water reminds me of staying with my granny in the summers of the eighties. I tried it a few years ago, but it wasn't as I remembered it.

No TV til tomorrow, but I'm at work today, so won't find it as bad. Enjoy your viewing, everyone; the order of play looks good.

janaus · 06/07/2017 11:56

Poor Kyrgios, so Injured again. Seems he had a date at a nightclub later.

Raahh · 06/07/2017 12:02

Today is the anniversary of one of the best ever finals- Rafa/Roger 2008. An absolute classic match.

i'm listening to Tim discussing the committees he is on, and the fines that are doled out. That seems much more his thing, than being a player. Very corporateGrin.

Apparently there is no hawkeye on the court Medvedev was on, which explains a lot. And it's very telling that the Beeb are not mentioning the umpire by name- though she's easy to google, and her history speaks volumes.

Raahh · 06/07/2017 12:04

jan he's an idiot. Really.

Raahh · 06/07/2017 12:05

In Ant news- I have poweder and gel stations strategically placed.

I'm ready for you, fuckers

Oooh, Marcos Baghdatis, he reminds me of a grizzly bear. (since we have been likening players to animals) .

Sadly he's playing Grigor, so a bit torn...

janaus · 06/07/2017 12:08

Raah, I know. Not defending the brat. Him and his buddy Tomic.
Whoo hoo, hit with a $20,000 fine for faking injury. Thank you Wimbledon.
These 2 should be banned for life.

JaneJeffer · 06/07/2017 12:19

Baghdatis is so cuddly looking Grin

Raahh · 06/07/2017 12:20

They should be- but whilst they have seemingly the whole of the tennis media fawning over Kyrgios like he is the saviour of the game (even though there are plenty of other young players coming up)- they will continue to beleive their own hype. They probably earn enough from people dumb enough to sponsor them or their 'bad boy' image (it's entertaining, dontcha know). The odd fine won't damage the account.

And I'm sure it would be different if they were female.

Raahh · 06/07/2017 12:23

Jane he is Grin.

Raahh · 06/07/2017 12:26

Del Potro is playing Gulbis. I always liked him, but he can be difficult too. Grin

BagelGoesWalking · 06/07/2017 12:37

John I's commentary on the Dimitrov/Baghdatis match is DIRE. I know it's not the most exciting of matches but he's awful.

The80sweregreat · 06/07/2017 12:51

John I is that one at work who manages to swan about talking a good job, but actually not brilliant at it but gets away with murder. He has something on the bbc that keeps him where he is i reckon.
After the remarks about the french lady player i thought he'd be dropped.

Raahh · 06/07/2017 13:06

I hope Kyle doesn't get sun screen tip from Boris.

Raahh · 06/07/2017 13:08

Arghh! I don't know what to watch. Delpo has just come out to play. I want to watch Monfils (sorry Kyle), and I'd like to see Marcos put up a bit more fight against Grigor.

SanFranBear · 06/07/2017 13:42

Oh no - all sad for Marcos Baghdatis - I find him so entertaining to watch.

At work so only able to 'watch' the live text update and even then only sporadically.

C'mon Kyle

Raahh · 06/07/2017 13:44

Noooo! Delpo has just mentioned his hip.

Bloody hips.

Fizzywinegum · 06/07/2017 13:50

I'm at work in a hot unairconditioned office - I want to be at home watching tennis Sad
