We could get rid of a few that way.

OP posts:
opheliacat · 14/09/2017 16:18

Blimey I missed that! So Miley will turn up in 2030 aged 15 then?

ProfYaffle · 14/09/2017 16:22

I guess so Ophelia - with a Manc accent.

opheliacat · 14/09/2017 16:24
Grin

Soaps haven't got a handle on accents at all. Hollyoaks, emmerdale and corrie residents all sound much the same apart from someone from Hollyoaks with a Jamaican accent despite his family all sounding quite middle england

scrabbler3 · 14/09/2017 22:00

Is Denise coming back? I remember the character from the 1980s/1990s and was surprised that she turned into someone who'd abandon her 15yo son.

What happened to the fortysomething man Liz was dating (dad of Amy's boyfriend)? She was pretending to be Amy's mum. Did the storyline disappear because Bev Callard needed time off for health reasons?

Wormulonian · 15/09/2017 09:15

Yes, I think the Liz storyline did just disappear. Denise did come back briefly (around the time Daniel attacked ken)but then disappeared again - don't know why. She said she would be close by to keep an eye on Daniel and then seemed to be gone. I thought she would be back long term. The storyline that she left Daniel to fend for himself aged 14 and that he never thought to get in touch with ken was just bonkers.

Eastie77 · 15/09/2017 12:05

At least they remembered to give Adam a Scottish accent. They could have made a bit of an effort with Bethany though. A decade in Italy, left the UK as a small child but sounds as if she's been living up North all this time.

Phelan's daughter has been milling around the street for months and yet Gary didn't recognize her in the club Confused. He must have walked back to the Street (speed walking since he reached there at the same time as the black cab) and sobered up en route since he was drunk in the club and completely fine when he met Sarah, ready to carry on Grin

Why does Jake need to go to a private school. A state school with extra support as needed would work, no? State schools are often better than private at helping kids with additional needs. Gary seems to have already earned enough to pay for 1-1 speech therapy.

ShowerGel9 · 15/09/2017 12:10

I think there will be a fire in the house.

Andy will perith in the fire.

Firecrew will come and find him all changed up and will be like 'WTF"

mrssunshinexxx · 15/09/2017 13:54

Sarah platt is pathetic!!!!! What on earth is up with Gary?!?!?

eddiemairswife · 15/09/2017 15:33

Didn't Gary have PTSD after he served in the army? Perhaps he's heading for a relapse.

Wormulonian · 15/09/2017 16:30

Peter grew up in Scotland along with his twin sister (Adam's mum). Peter has not a hint of Scots in his accent and his sister was quite posh (as far as I can remember). Bethany is just following a Corrie tradition.

Izzie's pain was supposed to only be going to get worse - but now she seems to manage perfectly well on her tod with Gary away (the odd time we see her). Continuity is not Corrie's forte either.

Don't have high hopes for Corrie going to 6 nights a week - any thoughts?

deadringer · 15/09/2017 16:41

I love corrie even with all it's difficulties, I love it even when the storyline are crap. BUT, I wish they would go back to a couple of nights a week and a slower pace, they wouldn't have to keep squeezing in lots of far out storylines. There is only so much that can realistically happen to any character, so it gets more and more ludicrous sadly.

lizzieoak · 15/09/2017 16:44

Good point - whatever happened to Izzie and the weed pain management? I wish Corrie wouldn't get bored of storylines and drop them. It's like a bloody Beryl Bainbridge novel - everything proceeds at a good trot, you're invested in the characters, boom, the writer loses interest and The End.

Eastie77 · 15/09/2017 17:59

Wasn't David once diagnosed with Epilepsy?

Anna's legs burnt to a crisp, life changing injury and no mention of it a few months on as she happily walks around.

I seem to remember Carla was a raging alcoholic and gambling addict for about 2 weeks. All changed from one episode to the next following a lecture from a disappointed Roy and she back in the Bistro drinking glasses of wine normally.

Ken had a stroke, stayed in hospital for a week, spoke out of the side of this mouth for a while and is now all better with no mention of difficulties, follow up appointments.

Whatever is wrong with Rita will clear up in days unless it's her exit storyline.

Peter (or the actor who plays him) has never had a Manc accent never mind a Scots one. Even a Londoner like me can spot he is from somewhere in or near the Midlands.

ProfYaffle · 15/09/2017 18:39

And Sinead's miraculous recovery from the mini bus crash. Her back's never even referred to any more.

scrabbler3 · 15/09/2017 20:32

Oh yes I'd forgotten about most of those storylines. They just get dropped when inconvenient, such a when Izzy needs to be partying pain-free in the Rovers etc.

Eastie77 · 15/09/2017 22:19

And has anyone ever worked out how Izzy gets up and down the stairs to her flat?

eddiemairswife · 15/09/2017 22:22

Has she got an upstairs flat? I thought she had a downstairs flat in an adjoining street.

WishingCarrot · 15/09/2017 22:30

Sophie, Peter and Sinead have all ended up in wheelchairs at some point and are all now walking perfectly normally 🤔

Clawdy · 15/09/2017 22:31

That group in drag!! Hilarious! Dev looked the best.....

scrabbler3 · 15/09/2017 22:32

I did enjoy the drag scenes. I bet they had fun filming those.

theliverpoolone · 15/09/2017 22:33

And Jonny has been remarkably free of his MS symptoms for a good few weeks now Hmm

lizzieoak · 16/09/2017 00:18

Has anything happened with Andy? We're a week or so behind in Canada and the suspense is killing me.

eddiemairswife · 16/09/2017 13:11

I still get muddled between Shona and Nicola when they are not in their usual context. i.e. with either David or Phelan.

opheliacat · 16/09/2017 13:38

I was doing a MN "cocklodger" when David was whingeing about Shona's winnings buying a climbing frame for Max.

How old is Max now? Lily is 4; i was very newly pregnant with DD when she was born.

opheliacat · 16/09/2017 14:01

Why was Beth twittering on about Tracy and Charlie?

She wouldn't have known Charlie!
