unicorn. That's libel sweetie.

expatinscotland · 03/05/2017 23:35

'You can't judge people for being dignified.'

It's not even that. I can only imagine the level of sheer shock involved in it all, training or no.

Smellbellina · 03/05/2017 23:35

Why are the police files readily available on line? Is that the Portuguese way?

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 03/05/2017 23:40

Yes, IIRC, smellbellina although some parts get withheld.

MintChocAddict · 03/05/2017 23:41

Idiot

Unicorndreamer · 03/05/2017 23:43

Why do i need to grow up for stating True facts ???

Night night anyways my bed is calling

PacificDogwod · 03/05/2017 23:44

I am a doctor with 25+ years of experience, I have seen death, I have seen people react to sudden or expected death and loss of loved ones. There is no 'normal' or 'correct' way to react.
While i may be trained to deal with crisis situations, there is no way on this earth I could be objective or calm if my own were involved.
I have NO CLUE how I'd react in Kate's shoes.
Nor do any of us.

Unicorn, go away. Please.

MintChocAddict · 03/05/2017 23:47

You need to grow up because you're getting your kicks speculating about a missing child on a thread like this.
It's either a lack of maturity or you're just spectacularly thick.
Sleep on that.

OkPedro · 04/05/2017 00:08

expat 💔 I lost my parents and best friend. I didn't cry at any of their funerals. I can totally relate to that "I'll go insane" feeling. I can remember seeing my friend in her coffin and thinking "this is what it feels like to lose your mind" on the outside I'm sure I looked emotionless

RainbowJack · 04/05/2017 01:16

All I get from these documentaries is how incompetent the Portuguese police were.

They'd obv. made up their minds and tried to get anything to match up.

youarenotkiddingme · 04/05/2017 07:15

The thing that I think people forget when they skate the PJ is that they are a small local town police force who had never dealt with something like this before.

SY are VERY experienced. That alone means they'll have different approaches and idea etc.

justintimeforacuppa · 04/05/2017 07:40

"There wasn't one scrap of evidence to suggest an abduction"
The only evidence is Madeline is missing. There is no evidence to suggest she wasn't abducted
Apart from the several alerts by two highly trained cadaver dogs......
Apart from that it's extremely rare for a child to be abducted from indoors by a stranger. There is usually some involvement of a family member. What i'm saying is, nobody knows what happened to poor little Madeleine, everything is speculation, but imo it's ridiculously naive to rule out the parents involvement.

MaisyPops · 04/05/2017 07:40

Rainbow. I'm not sure they could be described as incompetent. It seems fairly normal to question the family given that most issue swith children happen with people they know.

Kate McCann refused to cooperate and didn't answer over 40 questions. She says this was in protest. Sometimes I wonder if this is one of the reasons people struggle to empathise with them.

ComputerUserNotTrained · 04/05/2017 07:50

I think, even if you think the likelihood of abduction or of her wandering off is miniscule, that you should keep these thoughts to yourself. Posting them on internet forums isn't going to help, but has potential to cause huge amounts of unnecessary pain.

We all have a right to an opinion, but we also have a moral obligation to at least attempt to be decent human beings.

youarenotkiddingme · 04/05/2017 07:53

That's one thing I never understood. Why would you refuse to answer questions in protest when 1 - just 1 of those could help find your missing daughter.
I get they were accusing the parents and they took umbrage to that - and tbf of my child was missing and someone blamed me I'd be raging too. But I wouldn't obstruct the investigation.

Smellbellina · 04/05/2017 08:18

imo it's ridiculously naive to rule out the parents involvement.
And yet both the Portuguese and UK police have.

Smellbellina · 04/05/2017 08:25

it's extremely rare for a child to be abducted from indoors by a stranger. There is usually some involvement of a family member
Which is partly why it is such a high profile case.

justintimeforacuppa · 04/05/2017 08:26

There's many things i don't understand either. Apart from refusing the 48 questions, (who would do that) and they and the tapas 7 have always refused to do a reconstruction, why have the McCanns never physically searched for their daughter, (but would rather spend their time suing anyone who has a different view of what really happened to Maddie) why did Kate McCann wash the scent of her daughter off cuddle cat. The list of inconsistencies and things that don't add up about their version of events is massive. That's why i'm keeping an open mind.

Smellbellina · 04/05/2017 08:29

They wouldn't have been encouraged to search themselves they would have been speaking with police.
The teddy was washed months after Madeline went missing.
People want to believe the parents were involved despite there being no evidence at all to suggest that.

justintimeforacuppa · 04/05/2017 08:30

How do you know that's the reason Smell, are you saying if she'd been abducted in the street it wouldn't be high profile? Hmm
Most cases of a child going missing from the home usually involve a family member. It would be extremely rare for it to be by a stranger. That was my point.

comicnavy · 04/05/2017 08:36

I don't think leaving children unattended was common back then. We always made use of the baby listening services back then, as did people we knew. It was only 10 years ago.

Not a criticism of Madeleine's parents only what has been said on the thread.

Smellbellina · 04/05/2017 08:36

It would be extremely rare for it to be by a stranger
Which is why such cases have a higher profile.

justintimeforacuppa · 04/05/2017 08:37

smell as far as i know it was washed just before the sniffer dogs arrived.
There is also no evidence to say she was abducted, and are you saying that the police didn't want them searching for their daughter? ever? because they never did. As if the police would encourage that day after day after day.....

justintimeforacuppa · 04/05/2017 08:41

If there is a child abducted from the home, the police always suspect family, you are deliberately missing my point.

justintimeforacuppa · 04/05/2017 08:43

Btw the Portuguese police haven't, especially Goncala Amaral, the man that they nearly ruined.
